In a recent interview of the actors from the colors show, they were asked how do they come to terms/justify something on screen that they might not necessarily agree/identify with as a person? The answer - that's why it's called acting. An actors job is to take whatever is given to them and to portray it as convincingly as possible even if they personally might not agree with it.
While the characterization, direction, writing, editing, etc is all abysmal in this show, we can't necessarily blame all of that for poor acting as well.
Take Sonali, Karishma, Ninad or even Bhavani kaku for instance, they have pretty one-dimensional characters, their lines are repetitions of what has been said from day one, yet one cannot deny that they are good actors.
Pakhi's character actually had a lot of potential, AS was average at best in the beginning, but she was never able to capture the layered intensity (anger, betrayal, hurt, jealousy, etc) that was there in the writing. In fact, her acting let down the writing in those early days and it has only been downhill since.
Shruthi's character as it's being shown now, is absolutely one-dimensional, so it's hard to even expect anything more from the actor. It will be interesting to see what happens to her character post-labor, etc... if they will continue showing her as this helpless damsel in distress that needs to depend on Virat for everything or the Shruthi that had no problem being pregnant in the jungle with her husband and seemingly managed a whole bunch of criminals.
Neil is a good actor, but yes, he has had his moments as has been pointed out. If the problem is that he as a person can't connect with the character, then he needs to work on making it convincing - that's his job.
So, yes, while on one hand character's can affect actors, it works the other way too... actors can bring down characters as well.
