Part 2 - 'Majboor kya keeje'

Aniket - Are you okay Sai?

Sai - Haan, mujhe kya hua hai? I am fine.

Aniket - Don't lie to me. I know everything that has happened between you and him.

Sai (with a faint smile) - Are, that was 5 years ago, I am over that now. I am fine, really. Chal lets go for Coffee.

Aniket - I thought you hated Coffee. No Green tea today?

Sai - I hated many things but I also don't want to remember many other things.

Later during the rounds

Dr. Barve - So, Dr. Aniket for your information, Mr. Chavan's family members are coming today. They will try and talk to him. If you are interested, you may be present there then.

Aniket - Sure Sir. I would be glad too. Can Dr. Sai join too?

Dr. Barve - I don't see why not. Any of you can be here and remember in case of Comatose patients, it is possible that they are aware of their surroundings. Infact, this is what we want. Therefore, give respect to the patient.

After Dr. Barve leaves, Sai pulls Aniket to the side.

Why did you insist on me joining? You know na, they shouldn't know I am here.

I know, but you have changed, ye short hair and mask main tujhe nai pehchaan payenge. Piche se dekhna na… Itni bheed main unko kya samajh aayega.

Aai and Baba have come for a visit

Dr. Barve - Mr. Chavan, to explain it in simple terms, in Comatose patients the brain or the mechanical part may still be working but the emotional connect or what we call as perception and awareness is missing. We need to trigger those parts of the brain. Please appeal to him emotionally.

Ninad - Thik hai Doctor. As you say.

Aai - Godu, uth na Bala, dekh main nai jaanti tu mujhe sun sakta hai ya nahi. Par Doctors bol rahe hai ki tere apne tujhse baat kare. Isliye main aur Baba aaye hai. Kal Shivani aur Mohit bhi aayenge. Pata nahi tujh tak hamari baatein pahunch bhi rahi hai ya nahi. Par main aaungi tujhse milne. Roj.

Baba - Virat.. Dekh beta. Maine bahot galtiya ki lekin ye tu bhi jaanta hai ki tu mere liye kitna khaas hai. Hamare liye hi sahi.. Vapas aaja.

Sai is standing at the back and is conspicuously avoiding looking at either Aai or Baba and is trying hard not to run to Aai and give her a hug. Afterall, while their marriage may have ended, she did have a strong bond with Aai and it still pains her that the day she moved out of that house, she lost Aai and Baba too.

Later that evening, Sai is ambling about near Virat’s room about whether to meet him. Aniket sees her and comes to her.

Aniket - Go and see him

Sai - Nahi, main to bas aise hi

Aniket - Kya aise hi. I know you want to see him. Abhi koi nai hai yahan par. I will cover for you. Aur vaise bhi unke aapne unke paas ja sakte hai.

Sai - Yahi to tum galat ho… main us category main nai aati!!

A few days later

Virat has shown no signs of waking up.

Samrat and Pakhi have come to meet. Dr. Barve is also on the rounds with Sai, Aniket and others.

Samrat - Shiva, dekh Bhai… mujhe ye sab bolna karna nai aata. Par tere bina tera Jeeva adhura hai. Jaldi se hum sab main vapas aaja. Miss you yaar.

Pakhi - Virat, main tumhe is halat main nai dekh sakti aur mujhe ye bhi realise hua hai ki maine bahot kuch galat kiya hai tumhare saath, I am so ashamed. Shayad ye mauka hai kuch thik karne ka…

With that, Pakhi opens a bag she has brought with her and proceeds to place something near Virat's pillow.

Sai who is witnessing this exchange quite passively suddenly draws a sharp breath when she realises that it is her dupatta that Pakhi has placed near Virat.

Pakhi - I hope this is okay Dr. Barve. This belonged to someone special.

Dr. Barve - Yes, absolutely fine. Doctors, your thoughts?

Aniket - Sir, as I see. The scans look normal and the physical recovery is quite fast. We may continue with the treatment

Dr. Barve - Yes. Mr. Salunkhe. I would suggest we keep going and let's decide in a few days. Don't lose hope.
