"It's a big house and you can sleep anywhere.." Virat said indifferently as he was not feeling well and also her words affected him a lot.
Shock would be an understatement for Sai for what she felt at that moment. She thought to evoke some response from him as his indifferent behaviour in the morning hurted her a lot. She didn't know but his warmth was missing from his words which he always emanates. Today she felt a cold vibe which she is not used to.
Her heart broke further in the evening when he refused to take her to his transfer or even didn't mention about his transfer. She was feeling some unimportant person in his life, which she never wanted to feel. Though she couldn't be the most important person in his life, she wanted to be an important person in his life. All this emotional baggage was making her heart break. She herself didn't know what to do, what to feel. All she wanted was to be with him.
"If my transfer happens, I'll take you too.." Sai remembered once that Virat told in the initial days of their marriage, sorry, deal marriage. But today, he didn't remember his own words. He failed to uphold his own words. Her eyes welled up, seeing him reacting indifferently .
She remembered how he stopped her from going to Usha Maushi's room to sleep and bringing her from there but today it seemed he was not even acknowledging that she was not sleeping in the same bed with him.
"So you're releasing your anger for Samrat dada on me?" Sai asked him frustratingly.
"Who am I to do that?" Virat replied tiredly. He was not feeling well from the previous night. Might be the chilly weather of Mahabaleshwar didn't suit him, he was feeling too cold in the morning and now he could feel that his temperature rose. He was not in the mood to fight or talk to anyone. Taking the requisite medicines, he went to sleep. Anyway he had to leave for his transfer place in 2 days.
Virat's heart broke thinking about the transfer, he didn't want to go away from Sai. But he understood from that day, being away from her is only good for her. She would be happy without him and he would be happy in her happiness. Those words on the anniversary day still haunted him. He was definitely happy to get back his Jeeva but his Sai..his Sai thought he's sad that he got back his Jeeva? Only that much she understood him? Did she call him a two timer? Even after being loyal to her the whole year, he didn't deserve to be called like this. Yes, he did late in setting up the boundaries between him and Pakhi,but he never crossed his boundaries. Always saw her as Jeeva's wife and even clarified to her. Then how can Sai call him a two timer? So he decided to free her from this relationship, though he didn't want to, just for her sake.
"Arre!! Why are you talking to me like that?" Sai enquired as she was miffed with him. She didn't like this ignorant Virat. She wanted him to talk with her even if he fighted with her. His ignorant attitude was hurting her a lot.
"Who am I to do that?" Virat again replied the same making Sai disappointed again. She got up from her side of the bed and went towards him to ask him now why he was behaving like this, but as soon she touched his arms to remove it from his forehead, she felt like she touched a hot plate.
"Virat sir! You have a high fever!" Sai exclaimed with concern.
"Yes I have." Virat again answered coldly.
"I mean you have such a high temperature and you didn't find it important to tell me about this." Sai now was now both concerned and angry that Virat didn't now even bother to tell about his health to her. He was burning in fever, still didn't tell her anything. Why was he being distant towards her? But now, she could only think of his fever.
Sai became all worked up seeing Virat in fever. She could see him moaning silently in fever, and her heart broke at that sight. She immediately went towards him and wrapped the blanket nicely so that he doesn't feel more cold.
"Who are you to ask me?" Even in pain, Virat didn't let go of his stubborn behaviour.
"Enough of this Virat sir! We can later on decide who I'm to you but now you should stop talking. You are moaning in pain and still won't let go of your behaviour." Sai's voice cracked at the end seeing Virat's condition. Though she wanted to be angry and stubborn,her heart couldn't see him in pain.
"You d..on't need ..to.." Virat replied silently as he was feeling difficult to talk.
"Shut up Virat sir! I know what I need and what I should do. You can't even talk properly and still you want to fight with me." Sai retorted as she went to bring the thermometer to check the temperature .
"Please, Virat sir, please don't say anything and take some rest.." She almost pleaded and went towards him to check the temperature.
"Open your mouth…" Sai instructed and Virat, not having energy to retort, opened his mouth like an obedient child.
"102°F!!" Sai was taken aback seeing the temperature. Her eyes welled up but for a different reason now, she could not see him suffering like this. Composing herself, she quickly dialled Pulkit's number as she wanted to consult before giving him any medicines.
"Hello.. Pulkit Jiju...Virat sir has high fever….. Yes, I checked the temperature.. it's 102°F... Yeah I know that Jiju.. still I want to consult first... Okay Jiju... ok…" Virat could hear the conversation between Sai and Pulkit. He was somewhere happy to see her concerned for him.
"She thinks about me…" He thought while witnessing the conversation between Sai and Pulkit. He was being semi-conscious due to the fever and couldn't keep his eyes open properly. The headache was making his condition worse, still he couldn't stop admiring his wife.
Sai hung up on the phone and went inside the bathroom to get a clean towel and a bowl full of water.
She came with those things and kept it on her side of the bed as she went to his side to keep in a comfortable position.
She lifted him enough and kept two pillows behind his back as she came to her side so that she could put the wet towel on his forehead.
"Sai... lea..ve...it…" Virat still was refusing Sai's help in that condition…"When...I...wo..uld..go..for transfer... there'll..be..no one...to help...me."
"You're going to transfer when you are okay..and for being okay, you need treatment. So stop being stubborn and let me do what I need to." Sai too was getting miffed at him at that point of time. Why couldn't he see that she was too concerned for him? Why did he need to be stubborn even at that moment?
"And you only know what you'll do when you go.. away.." Sai cried at those last words.."As long as you are with me, it's my duty to see you and you're no one to stop me from doing my duty."
"Oka..y.." Virat finally gave up.
Sai then started to put wet towels on his forehead so that the temperature gets less.
She finally cried seeing him in that state.
"Why are you behaving like this Virat sir? I might be no one to you but you're my entire world. I can't see you in pain like this. You being that joyful Virat Chavan 2 is all I want at this moment. I want to fight with you, want all your attention,be someone in your life, hug you and never let you go, but you're going away from me? Why? Am I that bad? " Sai thought cryingly while pressing a wet towel on his forehead .
After some time, when she realised that the fever had subsided a bit,she slightly tapped his shoulder.
"Virat sir, you need to have medicine, please wake up.." Sai tapped him again.
Upon getting no reaction, she again tapped him. She didn't want to break his sleep but he needs to have the medicines otherwise his condition might get worse.
"What happened Sai?" Virat finally woke up at her tappings. Sai made him sit at a comfortable position, as she went downstairs to bring some warm milk for him to drink before she fed him the medicine.
"Virat sir please have this milk.." Sai pleaded to him and Virat obliged as he was too weak to refuse. Sai then gave him the requisite medicines.
Sai sat behind Virat and was caressing his hairs as he was taking the medication. He was sleepy due to the fever and was a bit weak so as soon as he took the meds, his eyes drooped with sleep and he went to sleep by keeping his head on Sai's lap.
Sai was taken aback for a moment at Virat's gesture but composed herself and started caressing his head.
"Why couldn't I live in this moment forever? Why do I need to leave you? I want to be with you, Virat sir.." Sai slowly whispered as she bent down to place a sloppy kiss on his temples.
