So I took a break for a week from GHUM and discussions on the forum wrt to current episodes and I come back to watch this! Nope.. not saying it was a bad episode.. Sai was fire and bang on with her acting prowess..but then again it leaves a bad taste. The whole episode seemed like a pack of jackals hounding a roaring tigress. Chakravyuh!!
Agreed, both are flawed. None are perfect, but I’m confused where to place Virat’s character after today. I know that we still have the remaining part of the confrontation to watch out for tomorrow and to make a holistic opinion post that, but this is more about the scenes as stand alone
1. Chivalrous - He has portrayed it at various occasions. But why does he fail when it comes specifically to his wife. Does he consider her to be some private property that can be used as per his whims and fancies? I understand he has been quiet about this relationship with Pakhi, because he doesn’t want the truth to come out. Obviously fearing his family’s reaction. But more so, because he is cognisant of Pakhi’s reputation. He is guilty and somewhere feels responsible for her state. He knows that she will be accused and humiliated more and he wants to save her. Very thoughtful and gentleman like! 👏👏
2. Hypocrite- But what happens when it comes to your own wife? Is it only limited for outside world or is it my reputation over my wife’s insult? How selfish! Dude...you dig your own grave and throw your wife in it. Yes, she loves you and hence it affects her. But irrespective of that she does not deserve this humiliation for your doing. The entire family including the bff taunt her, shred her self respect to pieces, comparing her wifey concern for payable services, but this guy doesn’t utter a word. Oh that look she gave him to atleast speak for her over the fee for his care services. He could have redeemed himself there. But he was so busy being impressed by his wife’s reply, he forgot about the insult she was being subjected to on his behalf. His family saying she has no value, she has no right an all the crap he still didn’t speak. Oh yes! He does make a lame attempt but then blame it on Sai that she spoke for herself. Because she had figured out by then that she was alone in this fight, so she had to fight this all by herself. Virat is calm, composed and doesnt react on impulse and all that, then how can he shout and accuse Sai at every opportunity. Begging her to stay and then making a spectacle of her humiliation. After knowing what the Bff truly wants, any dumb person will understand her actions against Sai. She even had mentioned”Tum gadchiroli gaye jahaan tumhe meri zindagi ka sabse bada kaanta mila”. I mean how much more obvious can someone be to make the intentions clear. Or did a sorry and haldi ka dhoodh wash off everything. He refuses to acknowledge any of her cunning and pathetic thought process. But he throws his wife under the bus to save his and his Bff reputation. I understand that you moved on, but she is not lying either. And you have never really made the effort to make it clear to her. And admit it you did have the opportunity... multiple times. Yes Sai was washing dirty linen in public, but she was provoked and people tactically brought it out, she didn’t. She only responded. He knew it later, yet he looked at her for misunderstanding him. Have you given her an opportunity to trust you???
Coward - For a Bystander (I know people may not agree with this). I wish there was scene when Ashwini narrates the entire sequence that provoked and accuses Virat for his cowardice. “Tum apne baba jaise ho”. I understand that Bhavani and Ninad relationship is not an EMA more of respect and blind faith, around some back story. But the common point is both let their wives’ get humiliated and insulted by their families. As a husband its Virat’s responsibility to protect Sai’s self respect, but he fails miserably. Infact he plays the catalyst. You married a 19year old to give a boost to your own “Mahaanta”. What about her? She is still reeling from the loss of her only family. Someone who sacrificed his life to save the son of this family. Kamal Sir’s life may not hold any value to them, but what about Virat’s life? Can some ask the venom how much will she quote for Virat’s life here? And Virat talks about taking responsibility and all, but what about the mental torture that a young girl has gone through. Would her father be happy about taking such a promise from Virat? Has he really honoured the promise? And most of all as per the initial arrangement was he not ruining her life by marrying her and post her studies leaving her and stamping her as a divorcee for no fault of hers. Not that being a divorcee is wrong, but its still considered a stigma and it also somewhere restricts her love life and marriage options.
Where is this guy saving her? She is independent, she has the means to survive. Why does she need to be in this rut?
