Truth is bitter .. the popularity of ghum is because it shows the ugly mirror to society..
Whatever happened to Devyani pulkit .. and how her mother handled harini is not far fetched .. look around you .. you will see such uncomfortable skeletons coming out
and virat being outraged but unable to have guts .. to prosecute his elder is also reality .. humans have feet of clay .. Sai is young .. so she’s idealistic .. as she becomes more mature .. shades of grey will be added in her persona ..
I can clearly recollect .. I have seen an exact case happening like pulkit devi and harini happening with a family friend .. where the lovers who were married for a short period separated.. I don’t know whether the foetus was aborted or child given away ..
and the girls parents not having an iota of guilt .. after 2-3 years we got invite for the second wedding of the girl .. so it happens ..
Completely agreed, I've seen worse. I've seen the father and the brother actually murdering their daughters bf (they were put behind bars thankfully, didn't happen in India).
I don't know about the people here, but I know that I don't have the guts to step up. If something like that would happen in my family, I'd probably cut all ties, but I still wouldn't be able to involve the police. I know it's morally wrong, but I'm not that a strong person. There are few people who actually could do that.
The show however, I don't have any problems with them showcasing all that, but the problem is first establishing righteous characters and then butchering them. It's just so out of character for Sai and Virat.
Not only DevKit situation, also the way they mistreat Aai. I've seen happing that too (bit different, the husband was abusive (he has bettered as in no physical harm but mental still) and he is next level selfish) and I know that her children want to defend her and support her, they even tried, but she herself doesn't want to. She has her own reasons, but her children actually behave as if nothing happened in the past because their efforts won't pay off as long as their mother doesn't decide to do something. Theie mother is a bit Gopi Bahu type, she still has respect and love for her husband and there's also financial aspect and 'log kya kahenge' and no she's not uneducated, she's really well-educated. It's really beyond my understanding. But again, that's not how Virat's character was established initially so hate that he doesn't speak up for Aai.
