His extreme need to punish Sai when she goes wrong and let go the crimes like these just with a disappointment and be back to his normal..Kaka, Kaku..Baba stuff is something I am not able to understand.. He loves his family, he biased when it comes to farz..He loves Sai..he goes extreme. Now we may say he felt cheated and betrayed , because he was insecure and give various other reasons..But are you able to relate with this man at all? What the hell have writers done to this character? I cant relate to it all..
All I can say is that I have seen men like Virat (minus the abuse) brought up by a narcissistic parent. They will be in denial about the parent's actions but shout at/ fight/hurt their spouse for much smaller issues. Even if they do realise some of the parent's wrong actions, they are too weak to put up a stand. I guess deep inside, their relationship with the spouse, however strained, is more real than what they ever had with the narcissistic parent. The relationship with the narcissistic parent is conditional and based on emotional manipulation masquerading as love.
Coming to Virat, I don't think anyone of us can relate to his abusive behaviour. We can try to explain it, interpret it in our own ways. On my part, I tend to extrapolate the behaviour of the men I just described and try to fit it to Virat. In addition, Virat is brought up in a patriarchal family in which punishment is frequently used as a valid form of discipline, even among adults. So his actions during his rage reflects the abusive pattern he has subconsciously imbibed.
No matter how much Virat claims to love them, they are/always have been 'paraaya'. His relationship with them is everything toxic - where there is no honesty and is only based in emotional manipulation. His relationship with Sai and Ashwini is the only true relationship he has got and somewhere in his heart he knows that.
Having said that, I'm totally disappointed with today's episode. The crimes of his family are too huge for even men like him to ignore. Virat is intelligent and morally sound enough to be disgusted and disillusioned with everything he heard. Unfortunately, he may not be strong enough to take a drastic action. But there will definitely be a huge chasm in the Virat-Chavans relationship. But in the show, everything will be forgotten and he will be normal after two days. There will be no moral dilemma, no breakdown, no cutting of ties.
