Sadly , like in my house, even though my mom has all the freedom and my dad doesn’t stop her from taking decision. But when it comes to certain things like money and house, she will always depend on my dad for final decision, my mom is a homemaker. Not all but most of them don’t think that the money earned by husband or son is THEIR money too.

my dad keeps telling her not to ask him and take her own decisions but sometimes she relies on him for final approval.

It sort of but worse for Ashwini because she isn’t even respected by her own husband so she feels she doesn’t have the right even though no one is gonna stop her physically from doing what she wants
