Hey guys watched till episode 49.
Patralekha got married to Samrat and Virat gave her vada that he won't let anybody else come in his heart or life. I'm amazed Sai is called impulsive but Patralekha couldn't have taken a more impulsive step in her whole life. After marriage she regrets her decision. But it's too late.
As much as I have seen Virat he is the kind of person who thinks of himself as a highly principled person and wants others to think the same. A highly principled person is one who does not compromise with his principles. Many times, a person's life revolves around one thing or trying to maintain that one thing whether or not s/he is aware of that. How others see that person is a different thing. But a person's motivation is almost always the same whatever s/he does outwardly. As far as I can see Virat's motivation is-- Virat Chahvan jyanchi pakki zaban. He makes a promise. He's going to keep it no matter what. When he gave that promise to Patralekha it was in all sincerity. He was going to keep it no matter what.
But some promises are meant to be broken. And they are not easy to break. Kante ko kante se hi nikala ja sakta hai. Only another vada could've broken that vada. But just like taking that thorn out, you need to be patient, consistent and bear some pain, this vada too broke gradually. It took some time.
When Virat left Samrat's marriage, it was for Sai. It was the first time her name was mentioned in the Chahvan Nivas. Introduction of Sai's name before Sai herself😆. Patralekha felt threatened for the first time. Maybe a woman's instinct. Virat gave that vada before marriage. The wedding ritual wasn't even complete, the catalyst to break the vada entered the picture. And the ease with which he takes Sai's name surprises everyone as if he thinks they all know already who Sai is😆. But he knew Sai before them.
Before Sai entered his life, Virat's entire life was a testimony to the amazing abilities with which he had managed everything. He may not have been able to resolve any issues in his house but everyone believed and loved him. He acted as the peacemaker trying to keep everyone happy at least with him. And his efforts, his methods worked. Always. Everyone who knew him was impressed including Patralekha who fell for him a little too soon. It was all normal for him-everyone loving him, praising him, applauding him.
Then came Sai. The way other girls in Sai's school were awed with his looks, Virat, having the good looks that he has, would have seen many girls falling for him like that. Even Usha Maushi thought he was handsome😆and if not good looks, his good deeds definitely made people give him attention. And people acknowledged that. But Sai was different.
He tried not to show it but he was intrigued with her and how she did not pay attention to him like others. She used to fight with him, call him names like Gabbar, Basanti😆and was more focused on her Aaba and her own life. At first Virat scratched her off thinking of her to be a rude person. But the more he knew her the more impressed he became. The things that impressed him were the things that he really respects in a person- honesty, bravery, hardwork, selflessness. He was impressed and he never shyed away from voicing it out even in front of Patralekha and Kamal Sir.
Sai had started relying on Virat long before she would like to admit. His constant presence in her life gave her strength and respite. She has seen the same bravery or should I say something more in Virat that she has. She saw that she could rely on him when he went to save the little girl who called her Sai Didi (forgot her name already 😖) Their value systems match-honesty, bravery, selflessness. Though Sai was impressed, several things didn't let her express it as much as she would have if not for her Aaba and the constant danger lurking in their lives. Also when she is angry over something, even if she is impressed, she doesn't voice it out.
So on one hand Virat was impressed and voiced it out, Sai didn't do that, much. It felt as if whatever Virat does he ends up making her sad and angry. And Virat was not used to anyone not being happy despite being with him😆so he started doing things to make her happy like giving her Ghar ka khana in safe house, taking Kamal Sir's medicine to him. When Usha Maushi tells Sai on phone in Virat's presence that Virat Sir scolded her Aaba just like she does and fed him, Virat knew she would be happy listening to this and was satisfied😳.
So both of them had started admiring each other whether or not they admit that in front of each other. They had made a separate place for each other in their hearts but were completely unaware.
Coming back to Virat Patralekha's relationship, it started thinning thread by thread with Sai's constant presence in Virat's life and her unintentional interruption in Virat Patralekha's conversations again and again. Sometimes it was Sai, sometimes it was about Sai, sometimes it was because of Sai😆 The equation was changing. But Virat's admiration for Patralekha remained in his heart. Anytime someone or he himself said Chalta hu, laut kar aata hun he was reminded of Patralekha and a part of him cried. Often his eyes got moist. But soon the equation was going to change forever.
Kamal Joshi saved his life and sacrificed his own. Virat was more shaken with Sai's grief and anger than Kamal Sir's death. He gave a dying Kamal Joshi promise that he will take care of Sai. Another Vada. Another kanta ready to remove the other kanta. He witnessed Sai's anger and was ready to go but villagers asked him to marry her and take her along. Even though Virat clearly said no but the promise had started its work. When he packing his bags he saw his diary and a withered Rose kept preciously and a smile appeared on his face. A rose given by Patralekha with the advice that he should say laut ke aata hu, her memories flooding his mind, memories of her marriage and he goes to a burning candle and puts it in the flame. As if to symbolise death of those memories, but soon he comes out of trance and saves the Rose from completely dying symbolising his attempts to keep the bond alive between him and Patralekha. And unsure of himself that he might burn the Rose down completely and alongwith it his promise to Patralekha he at once goes back and puts the half burnt Rose back into the diary. Even though he wouldn't like to admit, things had changed. Next time when he is ready to go back to Nagpur, before getting into the van, his laut ke aata hu reminds him of nobody. Things had changed for Sai too. When the marriage is talked about, she is angry, for she thinks he was the reason her Aaba died. She clearly jilts Virat's every move he tries to make towards her, trying to make him, others and herself believe that she didn't need him. But she had started relying on him so much so that when she was about to take her life, the last thought she had was of him. Though she herself denied him to stay, she secretly hoped for him to stay. Later when she knows the truth of her Aaba's death, she is hurt that Virat didn't come to get her discharged. Neither of them gives up any chance to remind the other that they were rejected by the other.
Virat Chahvan has split into two. One was the promise made to Patralekha symbolised by a Virat in white who met her in Yoga Camp. The other one was a promise made to a dying man symbolised by a Virat dressed in his uniform ready to do his duty. This was interesting that both these Virats simply gave their reasons and looked at the real Virat asking his decision. He talks to his father and is given an advice that would help him take the decision.
Virat's nightmare was symbolic of many things. It was all about his vaade to Patralekha and Kamal Joshi. He could listen to Patralekha's voice through the chains of the promise he made to her. It implied that Patralekha was no more in his life just the promise that was stopping him from moving ahead. And ahead was Sai. He could clearly see her in danger but couldn't do anything about it. Both promises were there. One in the form of Kamal Joshi and the other in the form of chains. It's interesting that Patralekha's promise (though Patralekha was alive) was an inanimate object that was nothing more than a dead weight and Kamal Joshi's promise (even though he was dead) was very much alive in front of his eyes. He saw his father there teaching him what he has been teaching him since childhood-duty comes first. He sees Sai, measures both promises and decides to fulfill both. But he broke the chains, and saved her. Even though he told himself that he is going to keep that promise he gave to Patralekha he said it in Sai's embrace. He said it without realising that he won't be able to do so. Because he said it in another captivity-captivity of Sai's arms. Patralekha's promise was chains trying to control him, but Sai's arms are there to hold him not to control him. Her embrace is not chains that he will have to break free but something he won't ever want to let go. Another thing to notice about this particular scene is that Patralekha's chains, Kamal Joshi and Ninad Chahvan none of them were there symbolising that in the end no promises, no duty, no responsibility will remain there but only Sai and Virat in each others' embrace.
When Sai comes to know about Virat's decision, she no longer is unwilling to marry him, the only thought keeping her from making the decision is Patralekha's presence in Virat's life. When she goes to meet him and to ask him to refuse to get married to her, she frankly talks about Patralekha and he doesn't deny anything. When she mentions what will happen to Patralekha, he remembers about Patralekha and more than her, tells himself that she cannot keep any expectations from him. I was suddenly reminded of the scene when he was burning the Rose given by Patralekha with his own hands. More than Sai, he is scared about his own heart that is moving on. When he drives Sai home they remind each other again that they themselves have no interest in the marriage. But also do not forget to remind the other that s/he was rejected by the other one. When Virat mentions that she can go after she becomes a doctor he thinks he's giving her respite but every time he's making her more troubled. Hurt Sai pretends not to care and both think the other one wants to break the marriage after five years.
Virat calls Patralekha and Sunny to attend the wedding. Mohit and Karishma accompany.
Vitthal Mane comes to get slapped by Virat in the wedding and for Sai to see Virat's care for her and also for Virat to realise how much Sai needs him. But the slap showed more than responsibility that both Virat and Sai noticed but chose to ignore. In sindoordan ritual, both are thinking about the other one's rejection.
Vada has already broken, he is already free but he's still holding the chains in his hands pretending the promise is still alive. Every tear he dropped in the wedding was on the death of that promise.
After marriage pradakshina both Virat and Sai remind each other and themselves of their deal marriage. Both try to make themselves believe that the marriage is going to break after five years and how relieved they both are due to the but both know that the truth is far from this. Every time Virat mentions duty, every time he told Patralekha that nothing has changed between them he was assuring himself. Every time Sai mentions Patralekha she's trying to shield herself from hurt that is going to break her heart if she doesn't build a wall.
Virat hid his fears behind the duty. And Sai hid her fears behind the deal.
It is also interesting to note that Virat might be evasive about Patralekha if not Frank. But he never tried to make Sai believe that she was nothing more than a friend. Sai questioned and he either remained silent or answered her. But after marriage, When they come back from the temple, for the first time he told Sai that Patralekha was his friend and Samrat's wife. He gave explantion but also pretended not to care by saying there was nothing to feel sorry for as the vada is not broken. He hid his feelings for Sai behind that mask. All those things he said were attempts to stop his heart from moving on that had already moved on. Sai too wore a mask. She had started having feelings for Virat which she hid very diligently behind care for Patralekha and Patralekha's bond with Virat and deal marriage. Many times when a person tries to confer themselves from hurt the become super conscious of the other person's hurt. Sai did just that. Pakhi ka kya hoga?
But Patralekha has sensed what they don't want to admit to each other and themselves.
Virat mentions Patralekha as heart and Sai as duty. But the roles have reversed. He called Patralekha to his marriage to clear things, thus doing his duty. In the car back to Nagpur, he looks at Patralekha for the hurt he caused her but his heart instantly thinks about protecting Sai when the car halts suddenly.
Both have immersed themselves in their new roles. When Virat protects her, Sai instantly notices if Patralekha is hurt to witness this. And after reaching home, Virat mentions the word duty as many times as he can.😆

I wrote whatever came to my mind. No head no tail. But I had a lot to say. Also I skipped a lot of things as this post was especially dedicated to the vada aspect and its changing dimensions. Also I wanted to describe the progress of Sairat's relationship till marriage. This is why I stopped myself from making a post earlier about Sairat. I know no one is going to make it this far.😆but if you did, I'm impressed👏
