Virat had started to develop feelings for her a long time back. He loves her company, looks forward to spend time with her, observes her, cares for her, and just as anyone who would be in this phase, wants to see the same kind of feelings in Sai too. He wants to see that longing in her, to see her showing some interest in him.
His disappointment once came out while telling Pakhi that Sai never waits for him. The same day he enters the house, his eyes looking for her throughout the house and Karishma mistakes it to be him looking for Pakhi. He will even tell Karishma that he will meet Pakhi later. All this started even before they had an actual proper conversation after they got married.
And ever since she shared about her anxiety before the results, her aaba's plans when she would get the results and shares all stories of hers and aaba, he started to get more attached to her. He cannot find that attachment in her, whatever he does or after whatever they both share, she is always in page one of their chapter "her aaba" and "the deal". He got very hurt during the conversation of naag nadi visit, he could see that she loves only her aaba and after everything, she still doesn't consider him to be anyone in her life with whom she can visit a river. She got comfortable when she heard from him that she is her family.
When she asked if Usha mausi can join them, he got annoyed, he even then asks if he is not her family. He gets very hurt to come to know that after all the time, though they are married she doesn't even consider him as her family.
She of course has her own reasons, thinks he is doing it all only because she is his responsibility and does things out of force too.
First time during the rasam at home, she didn't like him doing it because his Aai was forcing him, she understands it that way. Then she asks him why did he bring her from Usha Maushis room, only because people will say something, she was convinced only when he said he wants her to stay in that room. Even the trip, she got happy only after hearing he wants her to join. The word zimmedari also acts as a barrier between them which Virat is oblivious to.
She always gets annoyed because she thinks he is doing it all only because she is his responsibility. She checks with him everytime, he asked her not to go to GC alone and when she asked why, he had said that she is his responsibility, she didn't want to step out of the car, only when he said he wanted to bring her, she got down.
She stays away so that she doesn't come in between him and Pakhi and also because she is confused and is not sure if she can look at Virat sir that way.
He has only now come to know what Sai thinks of his and Pakhi's relationship.
But the mere fact that nothing affects her inspite of them sharing a lot of good times disappoints him and hurts him. How direct was when he had asked, mein bhi tumhara apna nahi hoon while dropping her at college, he probes her too to answer. While tending to her alta applied feet, another direct question, am I not a person who can be loved. Even in the recent episode when she talks about split personality, and asks whom she likes and when said no one, he gets disappointed and annoyed and immediately asks why. It got diverted due to the tyre burst, otherwise he would have tried a little harder this time to find why she won't like him.
He got so happy when she held his hand at the temple, he was the first one to notice it and looks at her, trying to read her emotions. Many a times they have got lost in each other's eyes but Virat has tried to read what she feels and if has affected her even a little. The yearning converts to frustration and desperation too at times.
He always wanted her to give him recognition in GC too, the day he saved her from Jagtap at the mandap, she runs past him to her Aaba and he keeps looking at her. When she cries when her aaba collapses, Virat got more affected looking at Sai's condition than his guru's condition.
His disappointment came out in many ways, many a times.
Though he had scolded her and behaved rude with her because of the pressure from his family, he always adored her. There was a helplessness in him which actually showed how he wanted Sai to deal with things calmly, how he wanted her to deal with them tactfully rather than confronting them or fighting back always. Those anger also was because he would have no option other than listening to his family if she crosses a line. He didn't want her to fall into their bad books always. He has never liked her becoming a prey.
Though they are not dil ke acche family, as we all know but as per Virat Sai's actions and reactions can have its own repercussions which he wouldn't be able to help her from.
He can see her good deeds, her intentions but her way of dealing with things are entirely different from how anyone from his family would have dealt and hence she always gets blamed, misunderstood.
All these along with Sai failing to see his care, concern and affection for her gets frustrating for him.
Yes, even if she doesn't love him he will love her but that would only mean that he will continue to feel insecured which wouldn't do good for either of them. There can be a time, he might realise that she needs time to understand him and if he lets her be, she might start to realise her feelings for him.
Virat wants to be loved, Sai is not able to comprehend anything, though she cares for him and respects him, is still not able to associate the word love with her Virat Sir.
Aptly worded...that's exactly what Virat Sir is!!!
