I was trying to say that abuse is being normalised under the guise of romance

Oh thank god, someone understood my point đŸ„ș

I was scared fans might get offended lol. Yes they are definitely romanticising abuse in a way. Today's episode was the lowest low they could go.

I know, and I understand it must look like I'm overreacting but such shows actually glorify horrific things.

There's a reason why few shows have been banned like this. Because they reach a lot of audience and it's concerning what they show

It's not overreacting, you know.

We are in 2021, and this is not ok. In fact, we have a right to point out when something is wrong.

Had they portrayed the issue to critique it, it would have been ok. But, they are glorifying it, like you said. And that's not ok.

What the female lead is facing is domestic abuse, even violence today.

These kinds of shows normalise such horrific behaviour. I seriously don't know how these scenes are approved by star plus. It disgusts me to the core.

It's extremely horrific to see all this content on screen and that too with such high TRPs. Really tells a lot about our society as a whole.

All this verbal abuse and harassment, even physical sometimes is considered not a big deal by many and it's reflected in shows like this. I'm so infuriated by the guts of these makers. They have lost all morality and crossed every line.

This show seriously needs to either tone it down or it needs intervention.

I know I'll hit a nerve with the fans but this is what's bothering me as a viewer. Not just this show but many other too. The kind of content that airs on prime time TV just disgusts me.

Ye to kuch bhi nhi hain abhi ab kuch din rukie aapko kuch special dekhne ko milega jo kissi serial mein nhi mila FL glorification ke liye

people actually get influenced by these kind of regressive shows. Also these shows are watched by many who might not have access to the right kind of education so they think this kind of behavior is acceptable

Media and these shows have a great reach and influence/affect our psychology in various ways, the first, probably is - accepting such content since its just a show.

And what our movies and tv shows present do influence people's perceptions and does influence people. On itv all we ever see is nasty treatment towards women and it is never addressed properly, and instead it is treated by showing simply the girl being a goody goody to win over her in-laws and only then they start treating her better with time. This happens in every itv. What message are they trying to show by showing this in every serial? That a girl can only expect good treatment and respect from her in-laws if she goes out of the way for them always and is extra nice to them even when they are verbally abusive to her? That if in-laws treat their daughter-in-laws harshly then that is the best way to keep them in control and make them subservient bahus? It is actually disturbing how in-laws and DIL relationships are constantly shown on itv.

Yes,

That is why I had mentioned once to use disclaimers for such scenes because some people cannot differentiate between what is right and wrong

Agree completely. There's.a difference between showing something just to highlight how wrong and trying to glorify and normalise such behaviour.

This show is actually very regressive:

1.Seriously forcing females of house to work in kitchen with college and work and males only doing outside work. I would has preferred virat too helping in kitchen.

2. To discipline someone not giving food.

3. Doing hai tauba on every topic.

4. Pakhi being favoured because she belongs to upper caste

Well, honestly it depends on every one's thinking. According to me shows are just for entertainment and that's my opinion. Secondly in this serial sai is no less. She is also ready for fight. So I believe its equal from both end and she is not kind of women who will tolerate ill behaviour of anyone.

I understand your point of view.

But we live in an era where celebrities and for that matter a actor’s character is idolized by many.

There was a survey conducted by one of my senior in school on cigarette smoking, and almost 60% of the youngsters accepted that they started smoking because they saw Sharukh Khan doing it and thought it is cool.

People fangirl a character like Kabir Singh, when stalking is considered an outright offense.

ITV for that matter has a more widespread reach than any other medium and here it is a Hindi medium show which has a Pan- India reach.

Already we live in a patriarchal dominated society and ITV or for that matter any medium should condemn these issues and not use them for entertainment.
