Before saying that these views r narrow minded and not twenty first century material , I wud request u guys to understand in what perspective she is trying to say this . She made the comments not to tell us that Jhanvi's sasur is good or to say that Jhanvi shud become his pair ki jooti . She made the comments purely from a practical wisdom viewpoint ...............that is , my dear friends , that why shud a girl poke her nose where it doesn't belong ..........the key to a girl's happiness is to stay happy with her husband and maintain relations with his family in a pleasant but detached manner .........by not getting over involved . And hey , this view is very broadminded and immensely practical .

sajibabe , you said who gave the father in law the right to treat women like footwear etc and have such scumbag shallow views . Absolutely agreed . But who is supporting the sasur here my dear . No one is . Who gave him the right is a good question , but why the hell has the heroine opted ...........i repeat , opted , [ she has a choice ] to live in those shallow surroundings and stoop to uneducated levels by putting veils over faces and apologising for freeing a gal from standing in the sun ? Her own husband is telling her repeatedly that u have come only yesterday , u dont know my uneducated , ignoramus family , lets get the hell out and live an educated , happy life , but this woman opts to live there , pull veils over her face , bluntly has the guts to tell her husband NO I AM NOT LEAVING when he has fought on her behalf and told the family that he is leaving the house and ulta she makes him go and apologize to her sasur and say I AM SORRY , in the process making him look like an utter fool , what is twenty first century or broadminded about this kind of utterly foolish behaviour that this gal does or did ? This is my family , Ill live here she says , when a better beautiful life awaits her .............continuing in the same hell hole thinking its my fate , im married [ for life ...............] , thinking my arthi willl go from here is eighteenth century thought , but learning to walk out in search of a better life like NIkhil did is twenty first century thought ................knowing hard core people never change , its better to leave them and focus on ur own life like Nikhil did is twenty first century thought .

The thread starter points out that each family has its skeletons in its closet , better to leave them alone , instead , do ur own development . That is what this practical soch is all about , bas . No one is on the sasur's side here . All this prying and James bond behaviour at night is unecessary . Ignoring a loving husband and his pleas and opting to live in a hell hole and coaxing him to live there too is , i'm sorry to say , not standing up or being revolutionary , but plainly stupid .
