'I'm not experimental with food'

In conversation with Sayantani Ghosh...

The aroma that comes to your mind when you are hungry?

That's when I invariably think of chicken – the aroma of the chicken curry that my mom makes comes back to me every time I'm really hungry.

A snack you always carry with you?

I always carry some fruits with me, since I'm very conscious about proper nutrition.

Which is your most important meal of the day?

Lunch, which generally comprises a bowl of chicken or fish preparation, curd and chappatis.

The food you crave for when you are depressed?

Chocolates really make me feel better whenever I am feeling a little blue.

What's on your wish-list when you are the happiest?

It has to be chocolates again. I can't keep my hands off them.

Your most memorable meal so far?

I will never forget a meal that I had with a vegetarian friend. Being a Bengali, I am a hard-core non-vegetarian and I hated the all-vegetarian meal she was having.

A dish that you have cooked for a loved one?

I am really bad at cooking. So I always end up cooking noodles whenever I am asked to prepare something.

A cuisine you may have heard about, and are keen to sample?

I love Indian food and am not very experimental when it comes to food.

Your favourite from your mom's kitchen?

My mom makes the most amazing Machher muithya – a fish delicacy that tastes a little like chicken.
