Something has shifted between them now. There is a new found comfort level.

G - Aunty who told you this!!! Hahahhahahaha why would I have his power of attorney?? Hahahhaaa... no no... I don't even have a key to his house. Somebody has lied to you. I would really like to help but I can't!

The parents frowned at the news.

The key to their son’s home... even they didn't have. He wouldn't even invite them there...

And the power of attorney... the woman's reaction was so genuine. They had to believe it.

Mil - Oh is that so... Sorry for the misunderstanding... we didn't know... do not feel bad about the key thing even we don't have one...

Geet nods as if they were sufferers of same fate.

The parents repeat few more words of advice and then leave her alone.

As soon as the parents in law leave.

Geet called the assistant.

Determined to get to the bottom of the situation.

She just went through 2-3 hours of mind-numbing orthodox sermons by the parents. She needs to know who is responsible for her suffering!

Geet calls assistant and asks him what's going on?

The assistant had been working overtime in recent days trying to hold up against the pressure the family members were putting on him. And now even madam is calling him.

Everyone else he can still refuse... but if madam says something he is really not sure what to do.

Cautiously he asks Geet.

A - Good evening, madam. What can I help you with. I am not exactly sure which matters you are referring to?

Geet knew that the assistant was a person who was fully trusted by Maan.

So, she also doesn't hold back and tells him about the papers and work-related conversation with Maan's parents, to him.

Hearing all this the assistant lets out a sigh of relief and thought that indeed sir and Madam are 2 body 1 soul.

Even without sir explaining anything to madam. She did the exact right thing, what sir would have wanted her to do.

The assistant explains the business part of the situation to the woman.

There is a big-big project which needs to be completed in phases. For each phase companies can bid/ collaborate and work on it. Maan's company had completed first phase successfully and now they were bidding for the second phase, at the same time they were investing ahead of time to acquire resources required to complete the second phase once they get it.

Pre investment is required because:

1. Gives client more confidence in your ability to complete the work

2. Others can sabotage the resources. So even if you get contract, you are unable to fulfill it and then you lose the contract while paying non - completion heavy penalty.

While Maan was around, things were on track for phase 2.

Issue #1

Now that he was gone. Lot more competition in bidding had cropped up and somehow few of them seem to be placing bids only few thousands below Maan's company. Obviously, there was information leaks.

Hence, they had to keep changing bid amount, lowering the profit margin.

Issue#2

Many family members hindered and delayed and over thought and over meddled in decided the updated budgets... Causing cascading effects of lose.

Issue #3

Since the project had high returns. Everyone wanted in on it and wanted to plant/hire their own people in different teams of resource acquirement (which Maan never allows) ... Of course, once they have the position, they act corrupt and lazy.

What the in-laws wanted Geet to sign was an approval to appoint certain family members at certain posts which they wanted and also to take decision making control of the project away from the Assistant and hand it over to group of people/shareholders/department heads, family members were colluding with.

Geet listens quietly to all the explanation.

At the end she still couldn't understand why involve her?

G - But has this all got to do with me?

A - The deadline for all the bids and final submission is day after tomorrow. So, everyone is trying to finalize their stake in this before Sir returns.

G - But why come to me?

A - Because your signature is as good as Sir's. As you hold the legal right to make all decisions in his absence.

G - No I don't!

A - ... Perhaps Sir didn't inform you?

Geet is flabbergasted by the whole incident and conclusion.

The assistant quickly pulls in the lawyer (who had made their marriage contract) into the call.

And asks him to clarify the situation.

Lawyer - As Sir's legal spouse, you automatically get the power. Initially Sir had explicitly disallowed any of his blood relatives to be allowed to hold it...

G - What about me? Doesn't the contract... I mean didn’t he add me also to this list?

L - He didn't. In case Sir is incapacitated you will be one taking all medical, business, financial decisions for him.

Geet is shocked and stupified

G - What if I don't want to?

L - .... We will have to submit some documents to change it ... but that can be done only after Sir comes back.

G - So next 2days I go into hiding avoid all this drama?

Geet jokes in an angry tone

L -.. ..

Maan for some 2-3 years had some documents drawn to disallow all these family people to gain that power of letting them make decisions on his behalf.

As for Geet... he didn't think about it. He didn’t think about making extra effort to disallow her too.

Uske dimaag mein ye baat aayi nahi.

And now by default she gets the power.

Maan thought ki marriage contract mein property and shares ka clause hai and that’s all that is required.

And waise to its a contract marriage... but to the lawyer it looked like a standard prenup agreement with few extra things.

Aajkal wealthy people usually sign prenup... Toh woh bhi aur kuch nahi bola Boss ko.

A - Madam... I have a request. Would you be willing to attend the next meeting and clearly stop these people!!

The assistant asked in a teary voice.

He finally felt a hint of relief that at least someone was still believing in him.

He could even imaginarily feel Sir's aura while talking to Madam...

Isn't this untimely joking ability something Sir excels at?

G – Sorry, I don't want to get involved in all this. I don't know the details of the situation and it's not right for me to take any stand.

L - Ahem... Madam if I may... I actually agree with Mr A here... your absence or inaction at this point is same as your agreeing with others... as Mr A alone cannot stop these people.

G - But... Mr A didn't contact me before... clearly my help is not needed.

A - I forgot!!! And I dare not take initiative to disturb Madam.

Both the assistant and the lawyer try to persuade her a little. But Geet didn't agree. She just didn't want to be involved in this matter.

If she takes incorrect stand... Then... Wouldn't the whole responsibility fall on her?

As it is Maan's family and so many people in his circle look down on her and call her names behind her back

If she makes a big mistake here... God knows what all they would say next.

More importantly what would Maan say?

Geet clearly understood that she got the power by default. Not because Maan wanted her to have it.

Would he also believe that she is doing all this for his power and money…that she is just a gold digger?

Geet has a sick feeling at the bottom of her stomach.

Revealing Maan family got a clarity to us. How artful are they? Even Maan parents. Did Maan had no idea about attorney of his share and property. Did he choose to keep her as legal holder of his asset. Waiting for Maan and Geet meet. Waiting!

Assistant & Lawyer asked Geet for Help but she declined as she wasn't confident 😔 & unaware of the business issues
