Geet was strongly trying to believe on Ronnie but all know seed of doubt grow pretty fast. Once it roped, it’s start shooting in pace and strengthen its roots in the thought land.
Geet was tired and stressed, still she wants to confirm that what she was thinking is wrong. Ronnie loves her only. And if he not answering her calls, then there must be a reason. She needs to find out that. Might be he is in some trouble.
Geet quickly changed and hired a cab to reach Ronnie’s new rented flat. At least she knew this only. When she met him in her classmates’s party at disc, he was living with his friends as a PG. But now after finding a job, he start living separately on rent.
Rains start falling and clouds threatening the world with its thunderbolt. It’s late night and above on that heavy rain. Still she was determined to reach him at any cost. She thought to call him but then she dropped the idea and put her phone back in bag.
Her hands were cold and forehead filled with sweat drops. In her whole route she was only praying that all her doubt are just proved a doubt only.
After 45 mins she reached to the building where he lives. She paid to the driver and le he left. Her steps were heavy and heart beats pretty fast.
Don’t know where this all heading. She entered into lift and only praying that her donuts not to turn in to a reality.
He was living on 4th floor. With a sound doors of lift open and she comes out. Her hand was freeze. She was hesitated to press the bell button. What he thinks? This one question cautioning her and obstructing her to press the bell button. “It’s okay. He will understand.” She consoled herself and finally stretched her hand to press the button.
She was waiting but not ready for what she saw. A girl open the door who was stood in his shirt only. Her eyes opened wide.
“Yes?” She asked from Geet.
“Who is darling?” Ronnie appears from behind and asked without seeing at the door.
“I don’t know.” She replied and glanced back at Geet. “Who are you?” She asked again.
Geet ran away without giving her any reply. She doesn’t need any answer or explanation. Every thing is crystal clear. He was just doing a time pass with her. Two timing. Who knows how many affairs he have behind her back.
She ran down stairs without looking behind. At the time of coming she was taking steps very slowly but now she doesn’t care about any thing. She just running away. Don’t know from whom.
Her whole world crushed down suddenly. How many dreams she weave around him and what kind of a person he turned out. She trusted him so much that she wants him to meet her father even in this condition of her father. But now what? What she left with? No nothing. Her heart and soul felt empty. Her world seems blind. She couldn’t able to see anything. She felt her life got over. The person she trusted more than herself was a dream for her.
Now when she awake he was vanished of her life. It seemed she had woken up from a deep sleep. And now there is none named Ronnie. Till now she was living in a bubble. But bubble’s life is short and now it was burst.
Geet turned blank and walking in a heavy rain without acknowledging where her step heading. She was like a living dead body. Her father was in debt and her lover betrayed her. All things turned horrible.
A car was honking from behind as she was walking on the middle of the road. But she turned deaf to every voice. Car stopped and a person come out to remove her from his way.
“Are you deaf?” He shouted as rain was falling heavily and there is no street light was working.
Geet stood like a statue. Not reply to him. He was annoyed and patted on her shoulder. “Hello miss. I am talking to you. Can you hear me?” He asked again. This time bit more louder.
Geet doesn’t replied and start walking again. He chased and held her from arm. To make her walk on the footpath. But when she come this much closer to him, he looked at her face. He scanned. And turned the torch of his mobile.
He recognised her. “Geet…” His perfect sculptured lips uttered her name softly. He shake her softly. “Geet you okay? What are you doing here on lonely road?” He asked. His voice concerned.
Geet was quite. He held her from both arms and waits for her to utter something. “Geet… What happened? How is Mr. Handa?” He knew that something wrong happened with her but don’t know the reason. So he assumed might it related to her father.
Geet finally reacts a little. She glanced up to look at his face. Both were badly drenched in rain. Water droplet falling rapidly. For few seconds she was only staring at Maan.
“Geet what happened?” He asked but before he could ask any thing else, Geet hug him firmly. She was crying. He could feel her warm tears against his chest even in heavy rain.
Maan felt helpless. Probably for the first time. He was never into girls or any relationship before. Always determine and focused towards his works. He became rough like his files. Don’t know how to express emotions and how to console someone.
He was very hesitant what to do in this condition. Plus he is stranger for her. Don’t know what she assumed about his gesture. She held him firmly but his hands struck in mid air.
Hold her or not? A dual was running in his mind. But she was vulnerable and need support. Her tears provoke him to held her. Console her. Nothing matters. In that one moment he knew he made a right decision to chose this girl for himself. His heart ached seeing her broken. In ages he could feel something. Pain.
Now he knew she just not a infactuation. But he feels so strongly for her. And that’s matter. He left his hesitation and engulfed her in his arms.
The moment Maan held her, her grip turn more firm on him. As she was held her last source of life. She wants to cry louder and louder and wants to know why Ronnie turned his back so quickly. What made him unfaithful but then her subconscious mind told her what would change in her life if he even gave some lame excuses.
End of the day, he is a betrayer after all. She sobs in between. And Maan who don’t know the reason for her crying. But wants to correct whatever wrong she faced. He wants to remove every worry, every ounce of pain from her life.
Anything which made her smile again. Because first time when he saw her, she was smiling. And that clicked something in him. Her smile is beautiful. He wants her to smile back like on that day.
Maan look all around but he found nothing so he parted a bit and took her to his car. He opened the door and made her sit inside. Both were cold due to heavy rain. He wrapped her in his coat and sat next to her.
He waits but when she doesn’t start conversation, he initiated. “Geet what happened? What are you doing here in heavy rain and alone?” He asked again.
Geet was mute but he patiently waiting for her to say something. Geet nodded no. “I want to go back home.” She just said this and he nodded. Not pushed her for any thing. He started his car and moved towards her home. In whole route she sat quite.
Maan was worried. He doesn’t leave her like this. So when they reached he himself invited into her home. “Geet ek coffee milegi? I am feeling cold.”
Geet now realise that he was also drenched like her. Above on that he gave his blazer to her. She little bit come out of her sorrow and start thinking soberly. She nodded yes and took him inside.
“I am sorry….”
“It’s okay. No problem. I am fine.” He said to lessen her burden.
Geet went inside and brought towel for him. “If you don’t mind, I can give you papa’s shirt. your clothes got soaked.” She wasn’t sure a rich man like him might not wear the clothes of his employee.
“No it’s absolutely fine.”
“Please. You will catch cold.” She requested and he agreed.
Geet gave him track suit of his father and he changed his wet clothes. Meantime she too changed her clothes and tried to control her tears. Maan come out and search for her. She was in kitchen. Maan sat in hall and waits for her.
She come out with cup of coffee. “You won’t take?” He saw one mug and asked.
“I don’t like coffee.”
“Then take what you like?”
He mentioned about her like and she again start thinking about Ronnie. She likes him but reality is that he never likes her. No feeling for her at all.
Now she doesn’t have a trust on her choice as well. “Sometimes our choices are not right.” She replied in flat and dead voice.
“That’s not a problem. If your choice is giving you trouble. Then leave that habit. Simple.” Maan trying to talk so simple.
“It’s not easy.” She snapped.
Maan said nothing and just dip his finger in hot coffee. Geet stare him surprisingly. His finger start burning but he didn’t remove it. Geet was confused but she removed his finger from the mug.
“What are you doing?” His finger was completely red. She quickly brought toothpaste and applied on his whole finger. And blow air in between. “Have you gone mad? Why you did this?”
“You tell why you removed my finger and applied this?”
“To lessen your pain. Last night I thought you were a sensible man. Who know and understand everything. But you are crazy like hell. Aise kon karta hai?”
“What weird thing I did?” He asked in very calm tone.
“As per you this is normal to burn your own finger. Do you have some mental issue?” This time she forgot about her own pain and got busy in scolding him.
“You just said it’s not that easy.” He replied and Geet turn numb. She was staring him amusingly. “Pain kaisa bhi ho. Kahi ka bhi ho. We always trying to cure it. Then why not mental pain? I am not very good in explaining about emotions and life lessons. All I know is my work and achievements at any costs. But one simple thing I can tell you is never hold your pain and defeats. I learn from my mistakes and become a better businessman. But this simple rule is applicable in our life too. We all do mistakes and make wrong choices. But never judge or doubt yourself for one wrong choice you made. I dip my finger in hot coffee. which was definitely a wrong decision. But you removed it and help me lessen my pain. I don’t know how many friends you have and how much closer you are to them. But I hope there is atleast one person with whom you can share your trouble and come out of your pain. Your problem and pain will not cure in a day. But it’s effect start declining. Slowly slowly.” He said and start walking out.
“Wait.” She crossed the distance. She was hesitant. Don’t know what to say. “Thank you. Once again.”
“Never loose hope.” He just given her advice.
“Dad is doing well. Thank you.” She finally informed him. She doesn’t know why but still she wants to share with him.
“Don’t worry. He will be at home very soon. And if you need any help. You can freely call me. Here is my number.” He wrote his number on paper and handed to her.
“Thank you.” She smiled weakly. Finally. He smiled wide. Seeing her little better.
That one single night change not her perspective about him but for many things.
Both Maan and Ronnie taught her a new lesson. And their Fate played it’s game in between.
It wasn’t a love story but might be a beginning of that.
Her father got discharged and start recovering. He realised his mistake but Geet was stronger than before. She finished her studies and start job to help herself and her father.
Maan waits for her until she herself called him and set a date. Though it wasn’t official but yes it was their date.
Geet asked whether he is still interested in her or not. Maan wants her opinion. And she wants time so they both know each other little more before marriage and then took the decision. She doesn’t want to rush things like she did in case of Ronnie.
For next 6 month they were in courtship. Start understanding each other’s likes and dislikes. Their routine. Each other’s habits.
Afterwards she accepted his proposal for marriage and said yes.
It was a complete loss for Ronnie. But she wasn’t his fate. She belongs to someone else and Fate took her there. Maan and Geet got married. And start a whole new journey with each other….
