MG OS: Marriage sucks
They were in Meera's house where Meera, Geet's bestfriend was having her mehndi raat (mehndi night), the house was beautifully decorated, like the perfect bride's house. Meera's parents had left no stone unturned, it was after all their only daughter's and youngest of the house's marriage.
Not far from where Meera, Geet and a few other friends sat getting their hands decorated with mehndi was a stage. Annie, the cousin of Meera's to be husband had decided to host the mehndi raat function.
"What is marriage?" Annie asked to the crowd of single and married ladies.
"A waste of our sanity" came a voice, it was Geet, possiby Meera's most pessimistic friend on the topic of marriage.
"Shut up Geet, I'm getting married sooner than you can spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" Meera shouted. Glaring playfully at Geet.
"Can't hide the truth Meera, here let me sing you all a song" Geet said, stood up, took the mike from Annie and began to sing "Zor ka jatka hai zoren se laga, hai laga, shaadi ban gayi umar kaid ki saza hai saza". Just as Geet was about to continue to sing, Annie reclaimed her mike hurriedly and Geet went back to her seat with a pout. I really wanted to sing the line "shaadi ke mandap se tum khudgo bhaga "she thought.
Annie awkwardly laughed and continued with the program. If Meera had superman's eyes, Geet would've been in a LOT of danger that night. But Meera didn't, lucky Geet.
Day of marriage
Pls don't let the camera man film me while I eat, today's food is extra delicious and I won't hold back were Geet's thoughts as she looked at the food buffet on the table like they were her lover. Delicious, I'll be back soon, promise.
Geet hurriedly went to the mandap(sacred tent used in weddings) because the official ceremonies were about to start. She stood behind the crowd, not very near but also at a place where she could see the ceremony taking place. The perfect place. A kid ran in the crowd, bumped into her and nearly made her fall but a hand held her and helped keep her balance.
"Thank you so much! Everyone here knows me, if I had fallen ..gosh I don't even want to imagine" She rambled while not even looking at the person who saved her. Her focus was on her shoes as she had worn heels that she felt would desert her at anytime.
"You're welcome, are you okay?" The voice asked. Geet looked up and saw a very handsome person.
"You're so fine..I mean uhh haha I AM so fine...no n no I mean I'm fine now, thank you" Geet shied and thought to herself how she had embarrassed herself in front of the handsome stranger. I'll never forget this moment noooo
"So are you from the bride's side? I'm from the groom's side, the groom Jay, is my childhood neighbor and cousin. We grew up as brothers. My naam is Maan btw" Maan introduced himself in front of the pretty stranger he had saved. Too much information Maan? Stupid
"Oh haha yeah, I'm Geet, the bride Meera is my bestfriend, we met in high school and stuck together like thick syrup in hair" Geet said, internally already planning on how to get Maan's number Should I spill water on him and offer to dry clean his shirt?
A kid came in between them as they were getting ready to talk some more and as Geet was eyeing a waiter with drinks, to spill on Maan.
"uncle aunty, what is marriage?"
"useless" they both said without thinking at the same time. jinx they both thought. They brought their gazes to each other, mouth open like goldfish,
he has the same thoughts on marriage as I do, she has the same thoughts on marriage as I do they both thought.
The kid not getting any attention anymore ran away. Leaving the two staring at each together.
"You really think so?" Geet asked
"yeah, you do too?" Maan asked
"oh do I ever! I can write a whole list on how marriage is the root of evil" Geet suddenly looked very excited to have met someone with the same thoughts as hers, in a wedding non the less!
Maaneet couldn't believe the luck they struck out by meeting each other.
Soon they bonded over other things than their mutual dislike for marriage, as they continued to meet after Meera and Jay's marriage. The more time they spent together, they more they enjoyed each other's presence, the closer they got.
Two years passed and neither noticed how close they really got.
One day they were hanging out in the garden of Maan's house, it was Annie's sangeet night. They were laying down, gazing at the stars, Maan stopped looking at the stars, looked at Geet and asked
"Do you know what would make a marriage not suck?"
"Yeah, do I ever haha" Geet replied gigling, also looking at Maan now.
"Want to test it out with me?" He asked, looking hopeful and scared at the same time.
"Are you serious?" Geet asked, stood up looked at Maan and then started to walk towards the roses.
"100% but not now, I still need to ask you out but in the future?, Do you want to?" Maan also stood up and started walking towards Geet.
Suddenly he was so close to Geet, her back touching his chest as they stood in front of the roses. Geet slowly turned her gaze to Maan. Her gaze became shy as she asked Maan "Are we made from stardust?" "HUH" "The answer to that is my answer Maan" Geet ran away from Maan and joined the rest of the family in the sangeet function.
Here in the garden Maan googled the answer and after realizing the answer was yes, hurriedly ran towards where Geet was. He couldn't get close to her again as there were so many people. Throughout the whole night they exchanged shy glances with each other.
