Part 7

Textbooks, notebooks and Xeroxs of notes were all strewn on the table and bed. While she sat on the floor with a book on her lap. Her back leaned on the foot of the bed and legs crossed at ankles.

She ran the pen under the line without marking, just reading. She read it again and again. She didn't get the meaning.

The page looked new in contrast to the others which had yellowed with blunt edges. The stack of fresh pages in that book were unread for earlier too she was unable to understand that particular chapter. So it was reserved for this day only, that is the day before the examination.

But this time, her brain has rusted. She sighed and sat on the chair she had been sitting in the same posture for so long her back hurt.

She started again from the very first word of the chapter this time patiently though her patience was running thin.

She closed the book frustrated given the thickness of the book it closed with a thud.

She had squandered lots of time in the fancy of love that whatever she studied earlier she doubted could even be revised thoroughly. Tears brimmed her eyes.

Maan's eyes snapped open as Dev dragged the notebook stealthily. Dev shook his head at his unsuccessful attempt. " so jao it too late"

Maan stared at his big brother with his red swollen eyes. His brother looked different. Cleaned shaved. Hairs properly trimmed and spectacles aiding his eyes. He looked like old Dev. Not the Devdas he had turned into.

Maan rubbed his eyes. Is he dreaming? Or his mind is too hazy due to sleep.

No he was not dreaming. Next minute he saw Dev collecting his notes and setting them on the table.

"Sleep Maan"

Maan looked at the clock. It was 1.10 at night and then at his brother. He seemed happy, his face reflected it.

" Need to study bro" Maan said as he headed for the bathroom.

" Coffee then?"

"Black " Maan responded and shutting the bathroom door.

……..

"So, champ! all prepared " dev asked as he came to stand beside Maan offering the steamy hot black coffee.

They stood on the balcony at midnight. The lane looked quite infused with a cool breeze. Thought it was the new moon day but the LED street light has brightened it enough to kill the dark.

Maan sighed.

" thoda baki hain but I 'll manage," he lied as he clutched the Coffee mug more firmly. He could merely study selected and expected topics. Off late he could hardly concentrate on his studies, somehow his focus has shifted to his family. Mom's crying, papa' s deteriorating health, his brother's emotional breakdown. His mind had remained full of all the chaos happening at his home.

"You sure?"

Maan nodded.

He sipped the coffee and looked over his shoulders at Dev, who had been staring ahead. He doesn't want to blame his brother for his own incapacity to concentrate. Dev bhai had been through a lot.

" Maan..." Dev called him. Lots of things buzzing in his mind. Would it be wise to share his feelings Maan. To unburden my heart to him.

"Huh?

"Nothing, go and study" Maan nodded and left.

Dev dragged in deep breath and smacked the rallying hard. It had always been hard for him to say his mind. He just wished Maan couldn't read his unsaid words.

Part 7

Fascinating and Tensed

Geet trying to study yet she does not understand her chapter

I'm sure that very chapter will be in the exams

Geet seem to be on a line between love and studies it almost feels like she wants both

yet at the same time understands her love is only one sided

Maan asleep well one cannot truly blame him for not concentrating

everyone at his home has been badly effected by Dev's relationship

though Dev looks well and perhaps happy I do wonder if he is just pretending for the sake

of his family .

he is in such a difficult and sensitive position at the moment and I guess all he can do

is just wait to see if his love comes back to him

seems like both Maan and Geet cannot give their 100% to their studies

waiting to see what happens

Geet and Maan unable to concentrate on their studies.

Both on emotional roller coaster.

Dev trying to get back to normalcy. Showing brave face for family.

There is so much of unspoken feelings between the brothers.

Just hope they share their thoughts and feelings with each other.

maan is not able to concentrate on studies with the happenings in the family so finding it hard to understand some topics

same is with geet as she is very much hurt with maan's cold behavior towards her

Dev disturbed everyone his family and also ppl related to them or concern anout his family

Geet and maan both not concentrate on studies like before

Dev trying to show he is happy or he is really change

Interesting..

Maan n geet both are unable to concentrate on studies... Due to their emotional turmoil.

Dev has something going on in his mind.. Hope it's all good this time.
