Not sure, one possible reason could be to keep the locked or the ones no longer updated ones in archived storage, (archived storage is generally cheaper) or just for easy maintenance.We can always request forum admin (jyoti06) to unlock some specific threads if required.

hmm..but it won't last for long, once the bug is resolved, these will be locked again..till then I am going to open some more locked ones..anyways I was planning to do so from long time..specially the discussion threads.
