The Heart that Found Me - Shaurya Rajveer Preeta FS
Geet felt nervous listening to the instructor's directions, Maan was just as uncomfortable, they both looked torn contemplating whether to listen or refuse.
She swallowed thickly when Maan slowly offered his hand, her eyes drew to his and he blinked unknowingly reassuring her, she placed her hand into his, Maan rested his hand on her hips drawing her close just as he'd been instructed.
Their bodies in such proximity affecting them both in an uneasy sort of way, according to the instructor it was sensuous, he was completely unaware of their discomfort.
"Now draw her in" The instructor stood behind him rattling off passionately. "Slowly, your arm should hold her in a protective manner and firmly..." he touched Maan's wrist adjusting it properly on the small of her back rather than on her hips. "It supposed to be resting there" he informed. "Mrs Khurana..." he slowly held onto her wrist placing around her husband's neck resting gently at the base of his neck.
"Now one, two three, like I showed" he told them. "Gentle swaying..."
However none of them moved, Geet wanted to pull her hand away feeling conscious of her skin touching the heat of her husband's nape, she dipped her eyes down and it was resting on the buttons of his shirt. Maan was cursing inwardly using all the letters of the alphabet, where had they gotten stuck? He wondered. He wanted to pull away and throw a punch across the jaw of the proud instructor who seemed to look for passion and was looking for ways to make this dance sensuous and as seducing as possible.
"Mr Khurana, you need to lead" The instructor pointed out. "Now one two three.." he clapped his hand. "Like this" he pulled his assistant in his arms and showing them once again how to gently sway then twirl, asking them to concentrate on his foot movements.
"Maan..." Geet squeaked out leaning forward. "Mujhe nahi karna" she whispered.
He stared at her for a moment deciding this was something they wouldn't be able to do, so he stepped back releasing his wife and turned to face the instructor who was unaware of them both telling his sod story of the passion in dance.
"We're going to head out for the day" Maan cut him off.
The instructor halted and looked at them horrified. "What? But... We haven't even started properly..."
"My wife isn't feeling well" Maan replied. "We'll be back for the next session..." He knew dadima would probably force them for the next session and would most likely follow them just to make sure they attend.
"Ms Devi has paid for the 6 sessions, they're all 2 hours long" he informed.
"Well we'll pay for another session afterwards, you can keep the money for this session" Maan responded. "We're not short on money so don't worry"
"But..."
"We're going" Maan cut him off narrowing his eyes at the instructor daring him to say another word. The instructor swallowed hard and only nodded quickly.
Maan smirked inwardly and turned to Geet. "Chale?" he gestured, she followed him out the door and sighed in relief inwardly. She wished she hadn't even agreed to this, may be Maan refusing wasn't such a bad idea in the first place.
Tujhe dadima ko upset nahi karna ta na? She thought to herself, she shuddered thinking of the other sessions they'd still be attending, she'd have do something or convince dadima to drop the sessions which seemed unlikely.
They'd both climbed into the car but Maan didn't start it, instead he slightly turned in his seat and looked at his wife. "About the sessions... I can speak to dadima"
"I... Dadima is going to be upset" she mumbled. "There's still time for our anniversary. Can I have some time before we resume the sessions?" she requested.
"Sure" Maan responded. "There's more than enough time"
She nodded shifting in her seat unconsciously. Maan turned away straightening and started the car and drew away.
"You're both back early?" Dadima frowned instantly as they walked in. "I'm sure I was told it's 2 hours" she muttered.
"We're going to resume afterwards dadima" Maan replied.
"Maan... aap..."
"Dadima I asked" Geet quickly cut in before they both argued. "Woh... I... I just wanted some time..." she fiddled with her finger keeping her eyes down afraid of seeing the disappointment in dadima's eyes.
"Oh, teek hai bete" Dadima patted her cheek. "Par aap dono ke anniversary se pehle aap dono ko yeh classes lena hoga. Main chahti hoon ke pehle anniversary par ek dance ho"
"Ji..." she nodded and excused herself from there.
"Did you do something?" Dadima frowned at him once Geet was gone.
"What makes you think I did something dadima?" he replied. "She's not comfortable and neither am I" he informed pointedly.
"You're a man" she muttered. "Waise bhi Maan main yahan aap ko help kar rahi hoon. Its going to be your first anniversary aur aap dono jaise... you're like strangers in this house"
"Strangers don't be spending time together" Maan countered.
"And they don't pick each other up" Vikrant added walking in.
"Nor do they hug..." Dadima hummed, Maan gaped at her.
"What? They hugged? When did they hug?" Vikrant questioned excitedly with the new information he'd just learned.
"Dadima stop making stuff up" Maan grit out scowling at her.
"Dadima" Vikrant whined. "Why'd you make stuff up for? I wanted to tease Bhabhi"
"You, back off" Maan narrowed his eyes on his little brother and turned to face dadima. "Mind coming with me" he laced his fingers with hers pulling her with him towards his study, dadima looked over her shoulder at Vikrant who waved at her sadly.
"Kahin aap maarne ki plan toh nahi bana rahe hai?" she questioned as they stepped inside and Maan locked it behind them.
"Dadima I love you but please stop making such plans that only happen in the film world" he stressed out the words.
"Maan main aapke help kar rahi hoon" she crossed her arms defensively.
"Well guess what, none of your plans are helping. The dinner you sent me and Geet on together, didn't work out because neither of us wanted it, instead we'd gone bowling. Your dance sessions are not helping either of us because that instructor chose tango, bloody tango for our dance..." he breathed out heavily. "Geet is afraid to even try, and I don't even want to dance. So how is that helping?" he rested his hands on his hips.
"Maan bete... stop exaggerating. Geet isn't scared, she's just... lets say nervous about coming close to you which isn't surprising..." she drawled slowly. "You're a hulk." She muttered, Maan narrowed his eyes at her having heard her last comment.
"You're trying to know your wife now because I pushed you and look where you've come. You're coming closer and you're attracted to your wife.."
"Whoa hold on" he held out his hand. "Who says I'm attracted to her?" he questioned.
"Are you saying you're not? Maan Khurana. Lesson for you today, acknowledge your attraction"
"Dadima..."
"Shush, listen to me" she cut him off. "Now you are attracted to her, my 3 hows'. I've seen How you watch her, I've seen you smiling at her secretly. I've also seen How you seem to be concerned, also I've seen you both getting close. Another How, I've watched How you speak to her, the way you talk in that gentle voice which I barely heard a year back is now coming out whenever you speak with her... and that is my 3 Hows. I've got a whole list of them but I'm pointing out your concern, the way you stare and the way you speak to her..." she finished off.
"Um... I think you need to get yourself checked, when was the last time you saw a doctor dadima?" he pressed the back of his hand to her forehead. "I'll make an appointment for you" Dadima pushed his hand off huffing at him.
"She's also attracted to you, if you didn't know" she informed pushing past him and walked out once unlocking the door.
"No she isn't..." he muttered to himself thinking about the woman upstairs. She wasn't was she?

"Remember you asked once if you'll love your husband?" Nikita asked looking up from her tablet. Geet frowned for a moment then nodded as she recalled that day.
"What about it?"
"You asked what love is, do you think you're both headed that way?" she questioned thoughtfully and carefully.
"Oh..." Geet thought back to that recalling what she'd thought inwardly. She had wondered whether he'd tease her, spend time with her... Which is what they were slowly doing, but were they headed that way. "Um... I don't know yet" she responded gently. "Like... We're spending time, he's... he's made me comfortable and has... always just made sure I was fine" she explained.
"Uh huh... How did the social dinner go?"
"It... was... I loved it" she exclaimed a little happily. "He surprised me, taking me ice skating. I'll be heading out with Vikrant lot for the weekend for the ice skating rink, we've also booked a villa to spend our weekend"
"Is your husband going?"
"Oh... I've not asked yet" she mumbled. "Should I ask him?"
"It's up to you, what do you want? Would you like to spend time with him? Maybe being around him will make you a little more comfortable in taking those dance lessons"
"Yeah... I... I'll ask" she decided. "I mean he's only going to say no if he wouldn't go" she didn't sound so pleased with that, she'd probably feel disappointed if he said no.
"What are you thinking?" Nikita questioned as she noticed Geet trailing away from their session.
"Um... nothing much. I wanted to ask, like... um How do you know when you like someone?"
"Well depends. Some people like that person's company more than others, some people like the person's appearance and body" she winked. "I was attracted to my husband's body first then to his personality"
Geet laughed. "Really?"
"Yep, there's different ways to be liking someone. Let's see about you... Do you like your husband's company?"
"Before not so much... but I enjoy spending time with him" she responded softly.
"His body?" Nikita waggled her brows suggestively.
Geet blushed furiously turning a deep shade of red.
"Okay we've not reached that part yet" Nikita laughed. "I suggest you start noticing it, because it works out well when you want to like or love your husband even more. If he has an amazing body, the attraction is always almost there..."
"Um... I don't..." Geet shook her head, she couldn't bring herself to check out her husband.
"It'll come slowly.." Nikita reached over patting Geet's hand. "Anyways how are things going for your anniversary?"
"Well dadima is already preparing for it, it's like 7 more weeks left. I'm more excited for the trip" she informed, she was about to invite Dr Nikita to the party but stopped in case dadima or Maan didn't like it.
"Excited or nervous?" Nikita questioned.
"Don't know really..." she shrugged. "It'll be the first party of mine, after karwa chaut there wasn't an festival held at our place... I'm just kind of scared you know"
"Hmm... Now you told me about your mom being here, regards to your husband how did you feel?" Dr Nikita looked over her notes.
"Thankful" Geet swallowed thickly as she thought back to that night, the happiness that'd filled her inwardly, that too because of her own husband. "He'd... done something I'd never thought especially of how he invited my family back then but... that all changed. He helped my mama come here, she lives in Delhi now and is just a phone call away. Before I couldn't even talk to her or call her but he'd made that possible for me" She smiled, her heart pounding with the overwhelming happiness...
"Hiii Geeet" Amelia squealed happily just as she stepped inside, Geet looked around and noticed Meera was also here and they'd brought along a hoard load of clothes with them.
"What's going on?" she questioned them tentatively walking inside.
"We've chosen your clothes for the anniversary" Meera explained. "These will look so perfect but dadima has chosen a few for the days that your family will be here" she added.
"Come here..." Amelia tugged her making her sit down. "It's your anniversary but I'm excited" she laughed. "I wonder what Karan will wear"
"Why are you after the poor guy?" Geet cut in.
"Whatever. I want my happy ending with him, you've got one of the Khurana brothers, Meera's got the other so it's only fair I take the cousin"
"Are they some sort of rare species that you're taking a share out of them?" Meera frowned, she stood to her feet with one of the sarees draping across Geet's shoulder and checking which one suited her.
"Whatever, if we were allowed. I would've married all 3 brothers" Amelia muttered. "But I don't know how I'd handle all of them"
Geet smacked her shoulder. "Shut up"
"Is someone getting jealous?" Amelia teased. "I might even take turns kissing them..." she continued, Geet scowled at her shoving her away.
"I'm not talking to you" she crossed her arms.
"Geet, you're spoiling it" Meera patted her hands away. "I need to see"
"I'm not talking to her" Geet responded.
"It's a joke baby" Amelia hugged her from behind kissing her cheeks. "Waise bhi I wouldn't want your robot. I mean does the guy smile"
"He does" Geet piped in defending him but bit her tongue noticing the open jaws of her friends.
"He does... does he?" Amelia raised her brows.
"Do whatever you came to do na..." She shrugged.
"You want to try them on?" Meera asked as she'd chosen a couple.
"No they look heavy, I'll just wear it on the day"
"Don't worry madam, I knew you won't like heavy embroidered ones so chose these, they're simple, elegant and royal like your family" she pointed out. "Speaking of which, dadima" she called waving over as she walked down the stairs. "What do you think of these?"
"Bohut sundar hai" She praised. "It's going to be look beautiful on Geet"
Geet blushed hugging dadima tightly.
"Accha bete... since there is quite a few sarees here, I want you to wear one today" She told her pulling back gently. "And you both choose for yourselves and wear it"
"Dadima is someone coming?"
"Nahi nahi.. bas aise hi. I just want to see you girls, teeno meri bahu hai" she winked at Amelia. Geet and Meera laughed playfully nudging Amelia who blushed furiously.
Unknown to them, dadima had cooked up another plan...
"Maan bete" Dadima called when he returned in the evening, he was just about to head up and change when she'd called.
"Ji dadima" He turned around facing her as she walked towards him looking rather pleased and proud of herself.
"Bete I want you to get changed into something decent, black tie occasion" she pointed out. "I need you to be ready fast"
"What? Dadima I just came, I..."
"Maan I'm not asking bete" she punctuated the words glaring at him. "Get ready fast!"
"Alright" he sighed heavily heading upstairs to change.
"Why have you called dadima?" Karan walked in a couple of minutes afterwards.
"Good, you're all changed" she smiled brightly. "You're going out with me, I need you to accompany me" she responded. "Vikrant has already left" she informed.
"Where are you taking us?" Maan questioned after he'd returned 20 minutes later, showered, freshened up and in a black tie and suit just as she'd requested.
"Just get into the car, you can ask me afterwards" she turned walking away expecting them to follow. They did.
"What are we doing here?" Maan looked around in confusion, he turned to dadima who also stepped out.
"We're all having dinner here"
"Who's all?" he frowned.
"I think she means them" Karan tapped his shoulder gesturing him to look down, there stood his wife, Amelia, Meera, besides them Vikrant was already here chatting away with his dear girlfriend. They were clueless to their arrival as they stood with the their sides facing them and their faces turned in the direction of where Meera and Vikrant were stood.
His eyes zeroed in on his wife, perusing her secretly. She'd donned on an elegant lightly embroidered white saree.
"See you're attracted?" Dadima whispered smirking up at him.
"Whatever woman" he looked away and noticed Karan with his eyes set on Amelia for a good measure of time. "I thought you didn't like her" he looked at him questioningly.
"I don't know what the hell you're on about. I was looking at Vikrant" Karan replied promptly looking in a different direction.
"Anyways chale..." Dadima gestured. "I wouldn't have come you know but I don't trust either of you" she informed. "Especially Maan" she stared at him pointedly.
"Dadima why are we here?" Meera questioned as she noticed dadima and the others approaching.
"Bete, it's been quite a long time since we've gone on a dinner together so I thought since you all are here today, why not?" she explained. "Waise bhi... I wanted to all my bahus spending time with their husbands"
"Correction dadima" Karan bit out. "Geet Bhabhi here is the only bahu"
"Um excuse me" Vikrant scowled. "Meers is going to be a Khurana bahu. And Amelia.." he looked at her. "Nah I don't think she's cut out to be a Khurana's wife" he shook his head.
"You ass" Amelia smacked him. "You're meant to be on my side"
"Bete... you look lovely" Dadima told her. "Don't spoil with that mouth"
Geet giggled noticing Amelia blushing furiously in embarrassment.
"Anyways chale" she tugged Maan to her left since Geet was standing closer glaring at him, "You've got your own table so get lost" she whispered softly.
"Yeah make it even more awkward dadima" Maan grinned mockingly, he walked forward so he was stood beside Geet as they all started walking inside.
"Geet..." he called gently.
"Ji..." she looked over her shoulder stopping and let the others past.
"Um... dadima made us a reservation on a different table" he informed.
"Oh... okay" she answered. They then continued to walk and he informed the maitre of their reservation and both were lead into a different direction to the others.
He was pleasantly surprised when they were lead to the back to the round elegantly decorated table rather than other dinner table which had centre pieces with a number of items on such a small table. He made a mental note to thank dadima for choosing this sitting knowing they'd have been uncomfortable in an open space with the romantic lighting dinner table, scented candles etc... He wouldn't have been able to stand all of that rubbish.
He pulled out the chair for her then settled on the chair opposite. Geet was unaware of her own bouncing knees feeling slightly nervous.
She should've guessed dadima was up to something the moment she asked her to wear a saree, but she hadn't seen this coming.
She looked around for a moment tapping the table nervously, which hadn't gone unnoticed by her husband who stole glances of her when she wasn't looking.
"Why don't you have a look at the menu and choose?" Maan gestured deciding to finish off with ordering their food then they could talk.
Geet hummed softly and scanned the menu, once the waitress took their order and menu cards away they looked around awkwardly unable to form words.
Geet thoughts wavered back to the therapy session with Dr Nikita, she wondered whether she should ask her husband to join them in the coming weekend trip they were taking.
"Um..." she mumbled gaining his attention, she was for a moment captured by his eyes but quickly gathered herself together. "Woh we're going on that weekend trip, I... I was thinking would you like to come?" she breathed out heavily feeling slightly relieved for saying it out loud but was now nervous of his answer.
Maan stared at her surprised, he was also a little pleased with her question which only meant she did want to spend time with him just as he did with her.
"I'm heading off to goa" he replied, the flicker of hope that was on her face as she waited for his answer had faded, she smiled thinly shifting in her seat. "I... I can't back off this meeting but... Goa is really nice, um..." he swallowed hard. What was he doing? "Would you like to join? It'd... also give us... some time together before the anniversary" he added. He's made a fool out of himself. He thought inwardly.
"Oh..." Geet stared blinking slowly wondering if she'd heard correctly. He was inviting her to a trip, a business trip but trip nonetheless.
"It was stupid to ask especially this late..." Maan muttered. "I know you're probably looking forward to the weekend trip so... it.."
"I'd like to come" Geet responded quickly. What? She hadn't even thought about it and just said yes.
"That's great then" Maan smiled chuckling softly, Geet dipped her eyes blushing feeling a little embarrassed.
"Stop it!" Karan hissed out leaning towards Amelia.
"What?" she scowled.
"You're rubbing your leg against mine" He glowered down at her. "Move it or else I'm kicking you so hard" he threatened.
"Go ahead!" she challenged, Karan decided to do just that and placed his foot atop of hers squeezing firmly just enough to make sure he'd meant it.
"Get off my foot" Vikrant shoved his shoulder.
Amelia burst out laughing whilst Karan flustered beside her in embarrassment.
"What's wrong with you?" Meera asked her wanting in on the joke.
Before Amelia could speak, Karan grasped her hand squeezing gently shaking his head, she stared at him in amusement looking back at Meera and smiled. "Nothing"
She slid her arm around his resting her head shoulder surprising everyone at the table, Karan gaped at her ready to push her away.
"You do that, I'll tell everyone you're gay and a guy was rubbing your leg underneath the table, oh and by meaning everyone doesn't mean our family" she whispered smiling ever so sweetly at everyone.
"What? That was Vikrant" he hissed out.
"Ah... no one knows that babe. They'll believe the juicy gossip" she winked. "Now be a sweetie pie for me would you?" she patted his cheek pecking him quickly. "You're so adorable looking so surprised" she chuckled pinching his cheek.
Karan glowered at throughout dinner whilst the others found it amusing with the sudden change.
"Dessert?" The waitress questioned.
"No we're going somewhere else" Dadima stood by the table asking her to bring the bill instead.
"Dadima?" Maan frowned standing up.
"We're going to the dessert cafe" She smiled.
"Why don't you have it here then?" Maan stared at her questioningly.
"Because bete, I want to have dessert with you all now" she rolled her eyes at him. "Pay and come quickly" she told him taking Geet away with her.
Dadima asked for a corner booth that'd allow everyone to sit together, she also made sure they all sat with their respective partners.
"When is your trip Vikrant?" Dadima asked as they all started on their dessert and coffee.
"The following weekend dadima" He replied. "I can't wait"
"It's going to be amazing..." Amelia added. "Imagine Geet on a skating rink" she laughed at the image.
"I can skate" Geet defended herself.
"You've never been" Meera cut in.
"You're wrong there" Vikrant spoke. "Bhai took her skating..."
"Ooh... so romantic" Amelia clapped.
"And... I'm not going to the trip" she decided to break it to them.
"What? Why?" Meera gasped.
"Uh..." She paused and noticed Maan smiling softly as if he was waiting for her to say the words. "I... I'm going away"
"Where?" Dadima looked at her curiously.
"Goa" Maan answered when she wasn't speaking anymore. "With me"
"Awww guys... You lot are so rom..." Amelia started.
Geet pinched her glad that she was sitting beside her.
"Owww" she screamed, Karan laughed happily pleased that she'd gotten her due for torturing him this evening. She grabbed a spoonful of her dessert throwing it on him.
"Amelia" Dadima gasped in shock, Karan grabbed his aiming to throw it on her lap but flung back on Meera's instead. Vikrant grabbed his iced tea dropping it over Karan's head.
"Dadima let's go" Maan gestured helping her up and away, he turned back holding out his hand for Geet who accepted happily not wanting to ruin her saree. They stood and watched the others as they soiled one another with their cold desserts.
"Dadima, it's best to leave them" he escorted his wife and dadima out shaking his head at his brothers' childish antics.
"Maan woh..."
"Dadima leave them, they're going to be just fine" Maan responded calmly. They're perfect for one another, clowns! He thought.
He looked to his side and noticed Geet staring in shock, he was about to question when he heard Karan screaming, Amelia happened to be straddling him and tugging on his hair.
"Maan!!" Dadima gaped.
"Uh... Wait.." he strode back to help his cousin. "Enough!" He scowled at them. "Vikrant pay them and get your things together" he pointed sharply turning around and joined Dadima and Geet back outside knowing they'd be out of there now without any further incidents.
Geet slipped into the back with Maan whilst dadima took the passenger seat and the driver drew away...
"You're still sure about Goa?" Maan asked her.
"Why? Don't you want me to come?"
"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want you to come" he replied making her blush shyly.
She looked away drawing in a deep breath feeling his fingers lacing hers, she swallowed thickly, her heart pounding... Maan didn't know what made him reach for her hand and hold her, his eyes had just watched her nimble petite fingers resting on the seat and he'd simply reached for them, seeing the blush on his wife and the smile on her lips he didn't pull his hand away.
Geet grabbed her cushion hugging as she smiled recalling Maan holding her hand, she hid her face blushing furiously at the memory, he'd released her hand when they reached home and were stepping out the car, she hadn't waited or looked back walking away quickly to her room feeling shy.
She shoved to her feet going in front of the mirror and stared at herself, her eyes drew down to the white saree she'd donned wondering if she looked as pretty as dadima had praised.
"Geet bete..." Dadima walked in surprising her. "What were you doing?" she questioned curiously.
"Kuch nahi..." Geet shook her head. "Dadima it's late, aap soye nahi?"
"I came here to talk about something which I couldn't respond to before" she lead Geet over to the sofa patting the place beside her.
"Kya hua dadima?" Geet settled down staring at her.
"Please don't tell me it was some fantasy of mine but I heard you're going to Goa instead of the trip" Dadima looked at her questioningly with hope.
"It's true" Geet blushed dipping her eyes down to her lap playing with her fingers. "Woh Maan asked me and I said yes" she added.
"Maan ne pucha?" she looked at Geet looking shocked. "Sach?"
"Haan dadima. Unhone pehle pucha aur maine haan keh di" she giggled sliding her arms around dadima's neck hugging her feeling ever so giddy, dadima laughed patting her cheek and kissed her on the forehead.
"I'm so happy bete, aap dono ke liye"
"Hmmm" Geet hummed thoughtfully. "Dadima.." she whispered softly. "I... I like him" she confessed. Dadima was sure her heart was heavy with happiness with Geet's confession, she slowly pulled away, tears glistening her eyes. The Maan who'd thought no one but his dadima probably loved him was admired by his wife without any expectation in return.
She cradled Geet's cheeks who was now blushing even more, her cheeks hot and had completely reddened. "Sach?"
Geet nodded in response. "He... he's changed dadima" she whispered. "And he... makes me comfortable and... happy" she mumbled. "I never had that before and with him... I do" she poured out her feelings and emotion in those words. Dadima knew for definite Geet didn't just like Maan but was falling in love with her husband even if she hadn't yet realized it.
Maan smiled inwardly to himself as he booked another ticket for Geet, he wondered how was he going to spend those next days alone with her? What on earth would they possibly do in Goa? He'd have to think of something since he asked her to come along. He could possibly take her out to do a little sightseeing and take her down to the beach he thought to himself. He looked up hearing the study door being opened, he smiled warmly as dadima walked in, she didn't look like the woman on a mission as he'd noticed instead she looked at him lovingly, he frowned instantly seeing tears in her eyes and shoved off the chair moving towards her.
"Dadima" he touched her shoulder. "What happened? Aap ro kyun rahe hai?"
"Nahi... bete" she smiled widely reaching up to touch his cheek.
"Dadima why are you crying?" he stared at her confused.
"Mujhse ek vaada kijiye Maan" she swallowed hard.
"What promise?"
"That you're never going to hurt Geet" she responded, she could've easily told him that Geet is feeling something for him but that is for Geet to figure out and Maan to find out from his own wife. So she asked for this promise, she knew how it must've been for Geet to even allow Maan into her guarded life and for Geet to slowly fall for her grandson despite everything and not expecting anything back in return was more than what she'd expected. She'd attempted to bring them closer and she was succeeding slowly.
"Why are you asking for such a thing?"
"Bas vaada kijiye Maan" she replied. She wanted to tell him but it wasn't her place, especially not here.
Maan nodded thoughtfully, dadima held out her hand he slowly clasped it squeezing gently. "I promise not to hurt Geet. Not intentionally anyways"
Dadima beamed cradling his cheek and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
The next two days went by with Geet and Maan preparing for the Goa trip, dadima protested to each piece of clothing Geet packed whilst Geet dodged her attempts in trying to change the clothes she had packed.
"Geet when you come back we're getting a tattoo together" Amelia told her as she lay comfortably on the bed flipping through the magazine.
"Where did you get this idea from?" Geet frowned as she zipped up the small travel bag and placed it on the side joining her on the bed.
"I want one on my bum with Karan's name so he knows where his place is" she responded.
"Very nice..." Geet drawled. "What are you looking at?" she took the magazine.
"Dadima wants to order your anniversary clothes from here, she wants it specially designed and all. I've picked these waist chains and clip on belly button pierces.."
"What?" Geet gaped at her.
"I swear they're so pretty, I would've gotten you a real one had you gone for the piercing"
"I won't ever do that" Geet scowled at her rolling up the magazine and smacked her with it. "Don't ever mention it"
"You know I also heard it comes really handy during sex" Amelia laughed.
Geet smacked her again harder this time blushing furiously. "Shut up"
"Yaar you just get one" Amelia suggested laughing louder.
"Get out of my room" Geet pointed.
"It's not only your room" she stood on the bed going towards the picture of Geet and Maan hung up on the wall. "It's my handsome's room as well" she winked kissing Maan's face on the picture. "Yaar if I didn't like karan so much, I would've seduced him" she responded dreamily. Geet smacked the rolled up magazine against her ankle scowling up at her.
"You..." Amelia stopped gaping, the colour from her face drained. "Uh hi..." she held up her hand limply waving. Geet looked over shoulder and was taken aback seeing Maan stood there with his arms crossed.
"I'm going to go..." Amelia jumped down scurrying away leaving Geet alone.
Geet decided to keep quiet keeping her eyes lowered, she wondered if he'd say something about the photo, she chewed on her lip for some time and noticed he was staring at the picture, she looked away when Maan stared at her.
"Woh... um... I... I didn't want to upset dadima so I had the picture placed here" she stammered out unsurely.
"It's fine" Maan responded calmly, "I just came here to give you this" he held out a brochure. "There's some of the best hotels of Goa here, I thought you could choose" he muttered out doubting his attempt of making it a trip to remember. It'd be his first trip out with someone else other than his dadima and Vikrant. And it'd be his first with his wife and the first time they'd be together that too completely alone.
"You can choose wherever..." he added unsurely. "I've... I've also extended it for a couple more days, instead of staying just the weekend I've... extended it by 3 more days" he informed. "That's alright with you?"
"Um.. Yeah" she responded softly feeling slightly excited for this trip. "I'll talk to Karan about taking the days off"
"I could talk to him if you want" Maan offered.
"Nahi, I'll talk if that's alright. I'd like to place in the holiday request form because he is my boss..." she mumbled.
"Hmm..." Maan felt pleased with her response, she didn't see Karan as her devar at work rather acknowledged he was her boss at work and devar outside of work.
"Anyways I'll leave you to it, would you be able to tell tonight? I need to book the rooms or it'd be too late"
"I... don't know anything" she looked down at the brochure. "Would you choose?" she questioned.
"You sure? I mean you can check out reviews online and see..."
"I'm sure" she interrupted. "I'm not even familiar with these" she pointed.
"Alright..." Maan nodded understanding. "We're going to be setting off afternoon so we'd be there by evening. In the morning I've got the meeting so after that we could possibly go sightseeing or something..." he trailed off.
Geet smiled warmly, "I... I'm looking forward to it" she admitted shyly.
Maan nodded excusing himself when his phone vibrated and retreated. Geet closed the door after he'd left, her eyes drew to the picture hung on the wall and giggled to herself covering her face blushing. He didn't say anything...She looked at the picture smiling inwardly, par iska matlab... she wondered. She pulled away from her thoughts when dadima called from downstairs...
