Chapter 36

Dadima smiled watching Maan place their travel bags into the trunk, he turned around standing behind whilst Geet hugged her bye.

"Take care of yourself bete" Dadima patted her cheek, Geet nodded in response stepping away, she stood near the car as Maan went near dadima.

"Don't hug me" Dadima stopped him. "You can only hug me if you promise me my great grandchildren after this trip"

"Very funny" Maan rolled his eyes at her sliding his arms around her kissing her temple. "Dadima please take care of yourself properly. Vikrant isn't also here" he told her pulling away. "No funny business" he looked at her sternly.

"What will I do? My hips are gone so I can't even do a happy dance that my grandson is going for his honeymoon" she exclaimed.

"Dadima" Maan narrowed his eyes at her.

"Oh whatever, I'm so happy bete" she patted his cheek. "Now take care of Geet!" She stared at him seriously. "Like how last time I took care of your wife, I want you to take care of my wife... I mean my daughter in law" she told him. "And make sure you give me some happy new" she grinned.

Geet was completely unaware of the exchange between her husband and dadima, she smiled admiring the relationship and how well they'd gelled. She'd had that now but before she'd only had her mother's love after the death of her father... After that no one else cared enough for her. She smiled seeing dadima laugh ever so happily hugging Maan once more, he kissed her cheek turning around. He smiled at Geet walking towards her stopping in front of her.

"Let's go" he opened the door for her. Once she was in he walked around shaking his head at dadima who mouthed her wish of having great grandchildren to him. He climbed inside quickly starting up the car wanting to get away.

"Geet bete" Dadima called just as he started reversing backwards.

"Dadima head on inside" Maan cut her off before she said anything to make their journey awkward.

"I'm talking..." her voice drowned when he shifted the gear driving down the driveway sighing in relief, whilst Geet had her head turned in his direction gaping at him.

"Believe me, you wouldn't have wanted to hear her" Maan chuckled noticing her shocked look, she turned away dipping her eyes down biting back her smile.

They'd arrived early evening, Maan had decided to pick up food on the way and eat once they reached the hotel. He walked over to the desk after passing their travel bag to the bellboy and informed of his reservation.

"Here is the key sir, enjoy your stay" The receptionist smiled handing over the key.

"Um... I booked 2 rooms" Maan frowned.

"Oh sorry" she checked the log then turned to him. "Sir we had a call 2 days back you cancelled both reservation and booked a double room instead"

Maan smiled tightly knowing exactly who planned this. "Is it possible to book another room right now?" he questioned.

"I'll have a check for you" she looked through the system then exchanged information with him. "We've got a couple of rooms free on the 7th, 9th and above. Most of which are family rooms and with the booking there will be a fee"

"Do you have singles on those floors? I'll cancel this and take 2 singles" he sighed tapping his feet impatiently, Geet also seemed tired. "Actually forget it" Maan waved off as she was taking far too long. "We'll take the room" He turned around facing Geet and informed her of their shared bedroom.

Geet nodded biting her lower lip thoughtfully, she also had the same thought as Maan. It must've been dadima since Maan had placed their booking 2 nights back in this hotel as it was very much near to the venue of conference meeting he had scheduled.

"Why don't you head over and change?" Maan suggested closing the door behind them. "Then we can eat" he placed the bag down which carried their food on the coffee table. Geet agreed wanting to be out of the suit she'd worn.

"Um... Is it alright if I shower first?" she questioned hoping she'd have time to shower before they eat unless he was hungry. "Uh you can start without me" she added.

"It's okay, get yourself comfortable Geet" Maan replied. She responded with a small grateful smile grabbing her travel bag and headed into the washroom to change. Her eyes widened when she took in the contents of her bag instantly grabbing her phone dialling the woman who she loved to bits but right now was so upset.

"Dadima what did you do?" Geet whined over the phone, she looked at the door of the washroom hoping Maan couldn't hear her.

"Bete I was helping you" Dadima explained.

"Dadima you... Main kya pehnungi?" she complained.

"You can walk around naked Geet, Maan aap ke pati hai" dadima laughed finding the situation amusing.

"Dadima it's not funny" Geet whispered. "Who wears sarees? You didn't even put in one night dress" she exclaimed.

"Oh, sorry bete. Saree pehen lijiye" Dadima suggested. "I wore it in your days, it works bete"

"Dadima" Geet whispered out. "What have you done? I want to cry right now" she mumbled. "Aur.." she paused digging deeper into the bag finding packets. "What are these packets?"

"Arre those, Amelia said waist chains will look nice with those sarees. I gave casual ones Geet. They're not over the top"

"Dadima I wore saree once and liked it but that didn't mean I'll be wearing it all the time" she responded. "Plus it's Goa. On the way I noticed a beach, who wears saree to beaches?"

"Arre bete I've got a solution for that" Dadima laughed. "Check the side, unzip it and you'll find it. I even added a bikini set if you planned to go swimming"

"Dadima" Geet whispered out mortified.

"Okay bete waise bhi main tak gayi hoon, bohut raat ho chuki hai"

"How do you think I feel dadima?" she muttered. "Who wears saree to bed?" she whined.

"Bye bete..."

"Wait" Geet called out. "What were you going to say before?" she questioned curiously. She wondered what Maan had meant that she wouldn't want to know.

"Oh. I said to give me lots of babies to play with" Dadima laughed, heat reddened her cheeks and she cut the call breathing heavily. Her eyes drew to the sarees she pulled out crying inwardly pouting her lips. Who wears saree to bed? She looked up at the ceiling hoping to get some answer.

Maan turned hearing the door unlock staring at Geet in surprise, his eyes drew down taking in her beauty. Geet had chosen the simplest saree she had found from the ones she'd been given, it was rich red in colour with a golden thick border; the blouse was black with long sleeves which reached her elbow. Maan shifted on his feet quickly looking away when he'd caught a small glimpse of her stomach. What the hell? He'd never noticed his wife like this before. It's because you're attracted to your wife. He could've sworn that was dadima's voice ringing in his head. But a thought crossed his mind, he was sure Geet didn't wear sarees this late so why was she even wearing it? He wondered whether to ask her or keep the curiosity to himself.

"Come and eat" Maan pointed noticing she looked uncomfortable. "It's going to get cold"

Geet sat down on the sofa taking her place, she continued to question herself who on earth wore saree to bed? She didn't know of anyone and she didn't think she'd come across anyone who'd wore it in this day and age.

"Can I ask something?" Maan was unable to keep the curiosity down.

"Ji?" she looked up questioningly.

"It's late, why haven't you worn like a night dress or something?" he asked her gently hoping she didn't get offended because he certainly didn't mind. It was her own choice.

"Dadima... replaced my clothes" she muttered. "Only leaving sarees, she'd forgotten to pack my night suit" she explained.

Maan pressed his eyes closed shaking his head mentally with dadima's so called intelligence. "You're going to be uncomfortable sleeping in it" he commented noting she was already feeling uncomfortable. She shrugged not saying anything and quickly ate, Maan unconsciously stole glances of her, Geet offered to clear up after they'd ate whilst Maan went to shower.

She sat by the window watching the moon light, her eyes drew down watching as the people continued with their tasks, some chatting away together in a corner, some walking hand in hand, some selling snacks on their stalls, it was if it wasn't night at all.

"Geet" Maan called her as he was all freshened up and changed.

"Ji?" she turned around facing him, she frowned in curiosity as he looked like he was going out. "Are... you going out somewhere?"

"I'll be back in half an hour" he replied. "Just don't open the door to anyone, I'm taking the key with me, if someone knocks don't open it" he informed her knowing how some people were around here.

She nodded in response even though she wanted to ask if she could go with him but she didn't know where he was going and she didn't want to be going out in sarees. She was thankful that dadima had packed some decent dresses for her morning outings, she would have been upset if she had to wear sarees then as well. She would like to walk around freely and go swimming. She looked between the 2 seater sofa and the bed wondering which one would be comfortable to sleep, the answer was obvious but then Maan had given up his privacy to bring them to this room so he was giving her space.

Her thoughts flew back to the first night...

"Here's your new bed" he'd told her then had walked over towards his bed grabbing a pillow chucking over to the couch then he slipped into his bed switching the lamp off and had left in the darkness.

A part of her had enough trust and belief he wouldn't do that this time, he might ask her to take the sofa but he wasn't really going to be harsh. She decided to settle herself without having to wait for him to tell her, she walked over to the bed grabbing a pillow and walked back to the sofa. She just stretched along the sofa when the door was unlocked and Maan walked in with a bag in hand. He halted frowning as he took in her position.

"Geet... Why are you sleeping there?"

"Woh... I..." she slowly sat up, she didn't want to pick at their first night especially since they'd come a long way and he'd changed. "I thought I'll stay here..." she mumbled.

Maan didn't say anything for a moment processing her words, he looked around their room for a moment, his attention drawn back to the bag he held.

He slowly walked over towards her. "I... This is for you" Maan offered unable to explain what it was and why he had bought it.

"What is it?" she questioned taking the bag hesitantly, she slowly opened it glancing at Maan for an answer.

"It's just a... a couple of night dress which you could wear to pass the next few days" Maan muttered.

She dipped her eyes down pulling the dresses out smiling warmly, she looked up back at him, "Thank you" she whispered. She wondered how she was going to wear sarees for bed for the next couple of nights and here he'd taken care of it.

"And... we can share the bed" Maan added. "It's not going to be comfortable here and... the bed is big, there is enough room for the both of us"

Geet gaped at him with wide eyes, blinking slowly.

"It's not the first time a husband and wife has shared a bed Geet" Maan pushed her chin up smirking as he took in her shocked face, she swallowed thickly looking away, her cheeks heating instantly with the small contact of his skin against hers.

She watched as he walked towards the bed, her lips parted as he unbuttoned his shirt, she looked away quickly retreating to the washroom with her bag of new night dresses. She was pleasantly surprised with his choice, she quickly stripped off her saree wanting to be out of it, she was exhausted and really could do with a good sleep. She opened the washroom door carefully once she had changed looking around and noted the lights were switched off.

She stared at the empty side of the bed wondering whether she should sleep here or take her last place at the sofa but then this bed was surely big, she carefully climbed into bed facing her back to him resting properly on her side.

She thought of the journey since they'd set off, she smiled blushing to herself recalling the things he'd done since they'd come here. She looked over her shoulder staring at him, he'd lain on his back with an arm thrown over his eyes and... she inhaled sharply as she now noticed he only wore a black vest with the moonlight streaming in.

Nikita's words rung in her ears, she turned her head away instead of following to the advice feeling embarrassed at the prospect of being caught. No she couldn't ever do that.

Imagine his face if he'd caught her staring she thought to herself. He'd burn you with those eyes... She told herself.

Chapter 37

"Dadima what are you doing here?" Karan stood up from his chair, he frowned when he noticed his mother followed her in. "Mom?"

"Karan you've got a couple of responsibilities" Dadima walked around pushing him out the way settling on his chair, Karan leaned against the desk crossing his ankles and stared down at her, whilst his mother settled on the chair opposite the other side of the desk.

"What responsibilities?" he questioned.

"Dance classes for you guys" his mom informed. "We want everyone to perform, this is their first wedding anniversary"

"And I wasn't able to enjoy" Dadima added. "I need you to hire the instructor who does good Bollywood songs and can teach you properly within the next 7 weeks"

"I'll find out but dadima I won't be doing any crap" he replied.

"Bete Maan couldn't even refuse and he's stubborn. You're a baby attitude compared to him" she responded. "You're going or else I'm going to announce something in the mehndi party we've got planned. It involves an engagement" She threatened.

"Mom" he looked at his mother for help.

"I agree with maaji, I want you to get married as well" she responded supporting dadima.

"What the hell?" You women!" he scowled.

"Now moving on..." Dadima swivelled childishly in his chair smiling thoughtfully. "I've got a mehndi to keep for Geet in the afternoon, after that in the evening we've got a party for everyone to join then. It'll be like a sangeet"

"Why not just get them married since you're preparing so well?" Karan rolled his eyes.

"Because aap Maan ko jaante haina" she huffed. "This is the best that's going to happen. Waise bhi later he might just want to remarry her" she shrugged. "Now I need you to hire cars to bring everyone from the airport to the farmhouse and the outhouse. Let's see who's coming" she informed him of all the relatives that were attending.

"How will they all stay in just the outhouse and farmhouse?" Karan frowned.

"Haan maaji" his mother nodded. "Some can stay at our place then in the morning we'll reach the mansion to help with the preparation"

"Do they know about this celebration being more like a wedding?" Karan questioned.

"No, and I want to surprise Geet. We weren't able to celebrate her mehndi or sangeet" she narrowed her eyes at him. "You keep that mouth of yours shut"

"Think you should be telling the girls that" he countered.

"Amelia and Meera know, they're not saying anything, They understand the importance of these occasions unlike you useless boys"

"Done? I need to get back to work"

"No I'm not done! You're taking leave for the next 7 weeks to get all this prepared"

"No I'm not" He stood up gaping at her.

"Yes you are!" dadima stood up grabbing his tie pulling him close. "I expect it or I'm getting Maan to close down this company!"

"Dadima"

"Bye bete. Now come down to the mansion for the rest of the day" she patted his cheek happily and walked away lacing her arm with his mother.

"Dadima" he called staring in shock at their retreating figures.

Maan looked up from his phone when he heard Geet open the washroom door, he stared at her in awe for a moment as she seemed comfortable in her slip racerback dress.

He looked away as she caught his eyes on her, she smiled softly shifting on her feet.

"Chale?" he broke the silence already moving for the door, Geet nodded in response following him downstairs to the breakfast bar.

"I'll only be a couple of hours" Maan informed Geet as they sat together having breakfast together. "I've hired a driver, if you want you can go and check out the malls or something" he suggested. "After that we can go sightseeing or something after lunch" he continued.

"Would you like see anything specific?" he looked at her.

"Um not not really" she shrugged. "I don't know anything" She sipped her tea as she sat thoughtfully having finished her toast. "Is it alright if I go to the poolside?" she questioned knowing there was a large pool behind the hotel.

"Geet you don't have to ask" Maan informed her. "Just let me know where you are so I know you're not lost or anything" he checked his watch. "I'm going to have to go" he told her waving over to the waiter and cleared their bill. He grabbed his briefcase standing to feet and together they walked out stopping at the lobby.

"I'll catch you later" he told her, she smiled in response nodding.

Geet spent the next hour placing her sarees into cupboards, she placed the dresses that dadima had provided her with next to them and had kept the bikini sets covered and hidden in the bag's pocket afraid of Maan finding them in case she hid them inside the cupboard. She knotted her hair into a messy bun grabbing her phone and book heading downstairs deciding to spend time by the pool. She found herself a rather empty area settling on the lounge chair with her cold drink she'd ordered from the bar inside. She called dadima wanting to ask how she was doing.

"Geet bete" Dadima chirped happily.

"Hi dadima, aap itne khush kyun hai?" she giggled.

"You should be here bete" Dadima laughed. "I was checking out sarees and draped one over this devar of yours"

"Vikrant?" she frowned, as far as she knew Vikrant was on the ice skating trip.

"Nahi karan" she laughed louder.

"Karan?" Geet giggled.

"Haan bete. Bohut sundar lag rahe hai"

"Dadima aap bhi na. Waise aap kaise hai?"

"Main toh teek hoon bete. Aap lougon ke anniversary ke tayyari kar rahe hai"

"Dadima hume ek chota sa party chahiye, itni sab tayyari ki kya zarurat, agar unhe pasand nahi hai?" she questioned.

"Bete aap chinta mat kariye, waise Maan kahan hai?"

"Woh kisi conference main hain, lunch ke baad mujhe yahan milenge"

"Aap kahan hai?"

"Hotel ke poolside par"

"Have you tried the bikini set?" Dadima asked hopefully.

"Dadima aap jante haina main yeh sab nahi pehenti" she responded, the furthest she's gone is to wearing dresses that too long length ones. She might've opened up but she wasn't going to dare bare her legs to anyone. God, No. She shuddered at the thought of someone staring at her legs.

"Bete aap na..." Dadima muttered. "Khair aap kaise hai? Maan aapka khayal rakh rahe haina?" she questioned.

"Ji dadima" Geet smiled. "I'm enjoying it here" she paused. "Dadima did you cancel the rooms?" she questioned remembering the cancellation of rooms last night.

"Ah... Haan" Dadima admitted. "I only done it for your good, ab dekho aap dono ek saat ek kamre main so rahe hai"

Geet exchanged a few more words then cut the call, she was surprised to see Maan return already, it'd only been 2 hours since he'd gone.

"Aap aagaye?" she sat up as he settled on the lounge chair next to her.

"We finished an hour early" he replied. "There's just another conference tomorrow that is left" he added. "Would you like anything to drink?"

"I'm okay" she responded pointing to her cold drink.

"I'm going to go for a swim, I'll just get changed" he told her then walked away.

Geet settled back grabbing her book disappearing into the story forgetting everything else around her, she took small sips of her drink from time to time. She seemed comfortable and relaxed than any other times he'd seen her. Unknown to her Maan had returned and started swimming, mid-way he stopped noticing how relaxed his wife seemed.

He was amused seeing her smile as she read the book she had in her hand and wondered what was making her smile. He smiled faintly when she suddenly looked up and caught him, slowly he turned away and cut through the water resuming his swimming. Geet had reached for her drink when she noticed Maan was staring at her, her eyes drew to his body catching glimpses of his chest as she moved smoothly. Dr Nikita's words rung in her ear, could it be true that attraction could give a new dimension to their relationship? She blushed furiously looking away as she thought of the wet droplets sliding down his skin.

She needed a cold drink she thought to herself, and she found her glass was empty, deciding to get one she stood up from her chair. She smiled at the children who ran around the pool playing tag, she slipped her things into the bag she'd bought placing it under the chair to be safe rather sorry. She walked around the children trying to avoid bumping in them, she shifted to avoid another child running towards his friend when her feet slipped and she fell backwards with a loud splash.

Maan turned around in shock hearing a loud splash, his eyes widened when Geet emerged up coughing, she pushed her wet hair away from her face looking around stunned. He was already moving towards her to ask whether she was okay and she was already moving to climb out. "Geet wait..." Maan held onto her wrist bringing her closer, she stared up at him curiously, her eyes widened and questioning him.

"Aap..." she mumbled.

Maan didn't know how to say the words, so he only brought her closer sliding his arms around her, she gasped softly swallowing hard when his lips slightly touched her ears.

"You can't go out" he whispered softly. "You... your dress" he trailed off pausing trying to figure out how to say the words. Maan slowly pulled back just a little making sure she was covered with his body; Geet grew red in embarrassment when she knew what Maan had meant. Her white racer back dress was showing off her inners, which were red in colour with black lace. She felt her eyes burn dipping her eyes down, Maan brought her closer noticing her tears.

"No one has seen anything" Maan informed. "I'll just go get that robe" he started pulling away when she gripped his arms afraid of being exposed.

"Just keep your body lowered" he told her gently holding her shoulders. "I'll be right back" he reluctantly pulled away and climbed up the steps hurriedly grabbing the towel and robe. He moved back to the edge handing her the towel first. "Cover yourself with that first then come out" he told her.

"Towels going to be wet" she mumbled.

"It doesn't matter, you're going to be wearing this" Maan held out the robe. "C'mon"

Geet nodded wrapping the towel around her shoulders stepping out, Maan stood in front of her holding the robe for her as she slipped her hands into the sleeves, he removed the wet towel whilst she closed the robe with the belt.

"Let's go inside" Maan grabbed his robe slipping into it and reached for her bag she'd left underneath the chair, he was grateful the poolside wasn't crowded, and pleased that people had minded their own business. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder walking her to the shower rooms calling over a house keeper.

"I need you to get a change of clothes for my wife" he informed knowing the housekeepers had access to the rooms. "Geet you let her know what you need" he told her moving away to give them space, he wasn't comfortable enough yet to tell the housekeeper to bring his wife's inners. Geet quickly told the woman to bring one of her sarees deciding it'd be better and told her where she'd kept her inners, the housekeeper walked off with her instructions.

"Ladies changing rooms in there" Maan pointed to the double doors. "I'm going to just quickly change and I'll meet you out here" he told her. "Is that alright?" he asked not wanting to leave her alone in case she was still uncomfortable and nervous.

"Its okay" she muttered. "She'll be here soon".

"I'll be out in 5 minutes" he told her squeezing her shoulder gently quickly striding into the male changing room. He went over to the locker where he'd left his change of clothes and quickly changed wanting to get back to her. He was concerned since he noticed she was almost ready to cry in the pool and worried how she must be feeling after this incident.

He'd walked out and noticed she wasn't there guessing inwardly that she must've left to change as well.

"Geet are you okay?" he asked her again as she joined him.

"Ji..." she whispered. All she wanted to do right now was head back upstairs and never come out again, despite not anyone else seeing her like that, she couldn't forget that her husband had. He'd seen her. For some odd reason dadima's words rung in her ears from last night. "You can walk around naked Geet, Maan aap ke pati hai"

If only she felt as comfortable and confident about the statement, she looked at Maan feeling his hand sliding into hers.

"C'mon let's go" he told her grasping her small hand. He wanted to move her back to their small space upstairs in their bedroom so she wouldn't feel so nervous and upset for the incident. Geet shifted closer pressing herself to his side noticing the prying eyes on them as they'd walked by, unaware the woman they'd passed weren't bothered about her but her husband.

Maan stopped suddenly noticing a woman trot in front of him stopping before them.

"Hi, you're Maan Khurana right?" she questioned. "I noticed you at the ---- hotel. My brother was in the conference as you. You are much more handsome than in the business magazine"

"Excuse me" Maan replied back tautly moving aside to walk away, Geet giggled as the woman scowled. She hadn't seen this side of her husband in quite some time and was quite a sight especially towards other women, she guessed by the way the woman talked and eyed her husband she was trying to flirt with him with the cheesiest lines she could've thought of.

"I see you're already finding this amusing" Maan commented as they stepped inside, Geet looked down biting on her lower lip trying to stop her smile.

"It really isn't funny Geet" Maan told her but found himself chuckling, Geet laughed looking away from him. He cleared his throat as others stepped into the elevator, Geet moved closer when a couple of guys walked laughing loudly and chattering away, Maan snaked his arm around her waist holding her closer in an reassuring manner. She breathed in relief when they stepped off and hadn't moved away from the warmth of her husband's arms.

"We're here" Maan told her stepping out with Geet, he released her rather reluctantly as they reached their room unlocking the door and walked in.

Chapter 38

"Karan speaking" Karan responded.

"Hi baby" Amelia squealed. "I'm missing you so much"

"Bye" he cut the call shaking his head. Damn woman

He cut the call as his phone started ringing again however it seemed Amelia wasn't one to give up so he answered. "What?" he snapped angrily.

"Baby listen na... Dadima said we'll be dancing so I just thought I'll let you know I don't want you as my partner, you're probably going to suck like your cousin so I've asked my boyfriend to be my partner..."

"Firstly I'm not your damn baby" he grit out "And what boyfriend? If you've got one then what the hell am I?"

"Oh are you someone?" she questioned amused at his response.

"No! I mean... I" he didn't have words. "Look get lost"

"Baby I can't get lost, you've captured me in your heart" she giggled. "By the way I got tattoo" she informed. "On my right hip" she whispered out seductively. "A place which is only accessible to you baby"

"Darling get your head checked! Crazy cow" he replied cutting the call and switched his phone off. I'm going to wring that neck of hers.

"Geet what are you doing?" Maan questioned as he found her taking pictures of their room.

"Smile" she smiled at him, Maan frowned instead confused and she clicked a photo.

"Uh Geet what..." he stopped when she cut in.

"Actually dadima told me she wanted to see the room" she shrugged. "I took a couple..." she walked over to the window. "The view from here is really nice"

"Yeah..." Maan joined her side. "Khair" he turned his head to her. "The car's here, shall we set off?" he asked her.

"Hmm.." she nodded looking forward to the places he was going to take her to sightsee.

After they'd went to see a couple of popular places, Maan was ready to head back having seen enough for the day, Geet had enjoyed it and so had he being in her company.

"Do you want to head back to the hotel or go somewhere else before dinner?" he questioned as they settled in the car.

"Woh... I was thinking to get them some gifts" she responded. "It's not going to look nice if we go back empty handed" she explained.

"Sure" Maan agreed and informed the driver to head towards the nearest mall.

Maan watched whilst Geet looked at jewellery after jewellery, he knew for sure they weren't for herself because he'd learned on the day of karwa chaut that Geet didn't like such jewellery, she'd preferred simple ones. He decided to look at some himself, Geet came and stood beside him holding a box.

"Yeh kaisa hai?" she questioned showing him a beautiful pearl set.

"It's nice" he replied not seeming interested, it wasn't that he didn't like it but he had no interest in jewelleries nor did he know the difference between ugly sets of jewellery and nice sets.

"Aapko pasand nahi hai?" she asked reading into his answer differently.

"No"

"Ji?"

"No I mean like... I don't know" he shrugged.

"Aapko pata nahi ke aapko pasand hai ya nahi?" she was sounding amused Maan thought.

"Geet mazak kar rahe ho?" he raised his brows; she looked away smiling asking the saleswoman to pack it away.

"Who's it for?" Maan questioned as he looked at the elegant diamonds sets behind the glass.

"Dadima" she smiled. "She likes pearls" she paused scrunching her nose. "Oh I haven't got anything for Amelia and Meera" she quickly moved away, Maan asked the saleswoman to keep the set aside for them. He joined Geet as she looked at bangles and bracelets, her eyes lit up suddenly noticing the payals next to it.

He admired her as she moved, his eyes drew down her petite form. She'd donned on a simple printed cream saree today with a maroon border, he hadn't missed the belly chain she'd had wrapped around, it was a simple chain with a small pearl pendant, it was what caught his attention and he had stolen glances when she wasn't looking.

He straightened as she joined him with two rectangle velvet boxes which held the bracelets she'd chosen. "Aren't you going to buy any payals for them?" he questioned as he had noticed she'd been checking them out as well.

"Oh, they don't like payals" she smiled walking back to the saleswoman, Maan frowned at her answer for a moment then realized she must be liking them but why hadn't she purchased any. He walked to the salesman who had shown her and asked which payals had his wife looked at, the salesman pointed to the three she had shown interest in and Maan asked him to pack it, after paying for them he went where Geet was giving the boxes to the saleswoman to pack and getting the pearl set packed along with it.

"Geet what are you doing?" Maan frowned as she pulled out her purse.

"Uh I'm paying. I bought the..."

"Geet put your purse away, I'll pay" he got out his card placing into the cardholder and pressed in the pin. The woman passed back his receipt asking him to remove his card and passed their bag of gifts.

"Geet what's wrong?" Maan asked as they settled back into the car, she'd gone quiet and hadn't spoken since, she seemed rather uncomfortable.

"Geet" he turned his head to her when she didn't respond.

"I... I didn't take you shopping because I wanted you to pay, I had my own money" she muttered slowly looking up at him.

"Why are you bringing up money?" he frowned.

"Y... You told me once you... thought I... I was only... wanting your money" she responded nervously.

Maan sighed heavily cursing his choice of words that day, he'd remembered telling her what he had thought of her when he decided to open up to her and explain his view. "That... it's something I thought of at first, you're not like how I imagined"

She chewed on her lower lip. "I still feel bad..."

"Well don't" Maan cut her off. "I think we've come a long way from that time" he told her how he'd seen it. "Where would you like to go for dinner?" he questioned hoping to change the subject.

"Anywhere" she shrugged. "It's kind of hot, can we eat out?"

"Yeah, we'll drop our things, change and then we can go?" he suggested.

She hummed in response agreeing to his plan.

Geet had changed into a royal coloured dress that dadima had packed, she slipped on the diamond studs that dadima gifted her on her first karwa chaut. She slipped into her heels walking back into room and found Maan all changed. He'd changed into a black shirt and black pants, his sleeves rolled up to his elbow which she found quite attractive with his arms showing and seemed to stare for a moment admiring him secretly, she watched him slip into socks and shoes then he was up and turned to face her. She swallowed nervously reddening instantly being embarrassed as he had been watching.

"You okay?" he asked her.

"Ji..." she nodded quickly.

"Alright then, chale?" he walked towards the door opening it for her, Geet followed stepping out and Maan walked alongside her.

Geet halted outside as she noticed how lively and crowded it was, with the numerous tourists walking along the streets she was afraid she'd lose him in the crowd. Maan's thoughts mirrored hers, he was going to lose her in this crowd so he looked at her offering his hand, words didn't need to be exchanged, their face expressions were enough to understand one another. Geet slipped her hand into his and allowed him to lead them down to a popular beach restaurant which faced the beach.

"After we eat, we can go down there" Maan pointed.

"It look so nice from here" Geet replied admiring the sun going down in the distant, the view seemed like a beautiful oil painting.

"We should come here at night, when the stars out. It's even nicer" Maan told her stopping outside the restaurant. He asked the maitre to give them a table outside; both were then directed to the corner the table for two.

They exchanged a few words during dinner, enjoying each other's company and the silence between them was no longer awkward as it had been before.

They came to learn how their work was going at their respective places and Maan had even asked how her mother was doing which pleased Geet immensely. She informed him about talking to her mother just a few days back and she was doing quite well, also her mother and aunt together were sewing dresses for women wanting something to do during the day. Maan had instantly questioned if they needed money, she refused they weren't doing this for money but were sewing as a hobby, and they'd gotten enough money from the sale of the haveli what she didn't add was that she was giving a part of her pay to her mother wanting to do something for the woman who'd stepped in so many times to save her from the wrath of her family men, she wanted to be able to help her mother herself.

With the exchange of words, they'd finished their meals, Geet refused dessert wanting to eat from the ice cream cart that was just directly placed in front of their view to which Maan agreed to, she also insisted she share the money to pay for the dinner despite Maan refusing she placed her cash down on the table. He sighed shaking his head with a smile and placed his share of the cash along with a tip then headed down towards the beach with Geet by his side.

"Dadima this is the venue, the woman and her partner will be coming there every 3 days for the next 7 weeks to get everyone practising their moves" Karan explained placing down the notes he'd made when he booked the dance lessons. "I've paid for half of it before hand as she wanted a deposit" he added.

"Okay bete" She nodded. "And whilst you were gone, I chose your clothes" she grinned. "Look it matches the outfit I chose for Amelia" she winked.

"Well guess what dadima. There isn't any point because your Amelia has a boyfriend and she's dancing with him"

"No she isn't" Dadima scowled. "I'll make sure you both dance"

"Dadima she..."
"Shut up, I don't want to hear any of it. You're both going to be getting along with each other and dance. Aur waise bhi Karan, hearing you I'm thinking you're jealous?"

"Dadima please, don't be insulting my taste. I have a much more sophisticated taste in women" he replied sounding proud.

"Oh really? I'm the last girl was quite sophisticated" she reminded.

"Whatever, she was a bitch anyway"

"Karan!"

"What? It's not like as if you haven't heard the word" he shrugged. "Anything else or can I get going?" he stood to leave.

"Actually... I was thinking how about you keep me company for the rest of the weekend? Vikrant yahan nahi hai aur na hi Maan"

"Only if you promise not to bore me to death with that crazy cow's name"

"Kaun?" she frowned.

"That precious Amelia of yours, what the hell do you see in her?" he scrunched his nose.

"Bete I see the girl who likes you and you see the woman you lust" she winked.

"Dadima" he looked at her horrified.

"Bete don't act like as if you haven't heard the word" she countered using his own words.
