"Mera gaana khatam hone se pehle hi uss mohtarma ne apna hijaab ulat diya, aur woh koi aur nahi, Geet thee ek bahut hi khoobsurat safed aur hare garare mein.
(I know this is sharara but just imagine it as garara!)
Aaj usne apna chasma bhi nahi pehna thaa jiss kaaran se woh bahut khoobsurat lag rahi thee, ek apsara ki tehara. Uski bina chasme ke bhooree (Hazel) aankhein uski khoobsurti par chaar-chand laga rahi theen.
Uski aankhon aur paushaak ke saath-saath uske gaalon par jo surkh laali thee woh..." (Before I could finish the song, the young lady uncovered her face, and it was none other than Geet. She was looking beautiful in her white and green garara. Today she had not worn her specs, hence was looking mesmerising like celestial nymph. Her hazel eyes without specs were making her beauty even more. Along with her eyes and dress the slight crimson flush on her cheeks were...)
"Maan kya aap abb bhi nahi apni bhaavanaiye samjh rahe hain?" (Maan you are still unable to understand your feelings?)
"Bhaavanaiye matlab?" (What feelings?)
"Matlab ki aapko Geet se pyaar ho gaya thaa. Aur shyaad abb bhi hai." (I mean you had fallen in love with Geet and maybe you are still in love with her.)
"Yeh aap kya keh rahi hain Dadimaa? Geet toh meri sirf acchi dost thee, Adi ki tereha, aur baad mein meri patni bhi bann gayi." (What are you saying Dadaimaa? Geet was just a close friend of mine like Adi, and later she became my wife.)
"Theek hai agar woh tumhari sirf acchi dost thee toh battao ki Adi ki kaunsi shirt tumhein pasand hai? Adi ki aankho ka rang kya hai?" (Fine if you consider her only as your friend like Adi, then tell me which shirt of Adi you like the most? What colour are Adi's eyes?) Garima also joined the conversation.
"Shirt...? Aankhen...?" (Shirt...? Eyes...?)
"Accha yeh sab chodo. Yeh battao ki jab Adi haqualaata (stutters and stammers) hai toh usse tumhe koi pareshaani hoti hai? Yaa jab Geet college mein apne classmate ladkon se baat karti thee tab tumhei taqleef hoti thee?" (Ok forget all this. Tell me does it bother you more when Adi stutters and stammers? Or it bothers you more when Geet talks to her fellow male classmates?) Savitri Devi enquired.
"DADIMAA, GEET MERE SIWAIYE KISSI AUR KI NAHI HO SAKTI!" (DADIMAA, GEET BELONGS TO ME AND ONLY ME!)
"KYUN? Woh toh sirf tumhari acchi dost hai!" (WHY? She is only your friend afterall.) Garima stated.
"Haan hai, magar..." (Yes, but...)
"Magar yeh beta, ki tum Geet se bahut pyaar karte the aur karte ho. Tumhein Geet ke pehnaave se, baloon se aur chasme se koi aitraaz nahi thaa kyunki tumhaare liye woh sab cheezein important nahi theen. Magar yeh sab auron ke liye zaruri theen jaise Dev aur Rahul ke liye." (But this Maan, you have always loved and will continue loving Geet. It doesn't make you any difference what she wears? What is hairstyle or if she wears specs? Because all trhis doesn't matter to you. But all this matters to others especially Dev and Rahul.) Garima explained.
"Matlab?" (What do you mean?)
"Matlab yeh beta ki Dev aur Rahul ne tumhein apni ghinoni kartuth ka mohar bannaya. Unko maloom thaa ki Geet tumse beintehaa mohabatt karti hai aur tumhara kahaa kabhi nahi taalegi. Iss liye unn dono ne apne naapaak (Indecent and disgusting) irade tumhare zariye poore kiye." (I mean this, that Dev and Rahul made you a pawn for their disgusting deed. They knew that Geet loves you unconditionally and will never question anything you ask her. Hence they fulfilled their indecent and disgusting plan through you.) Maan was still confused. "Maan, Dev aur Rahul dono Geet ko paana chahte the iss liye nahi ki woh usse pyaar karte the magar iss liye ki woh Geet ko...ko apni mistress banna naa chahte the." (Maan, Dev and Rahul both wanted Geet not because they loved her but because they wanted to...to make Geet their mistress.)
"MAA!" Maan thundered.
"Beta tum toh iske baare mein sunkar hi tilmilaa rahe ho. Socho agar unn dono ne Geet yaa Annie ke saath yeh galat kaam kar liya hota jo unka irada thaa, toh kya hota? Dev ne tumhare mann mein Geet ke khilaaf zehar bhi toh iss hi liye ghola thaa jisse tum Geet ko chudho do aur woh Geet ko apna banna le. Dev aur Rahul tumko aur Geet ko sazaa dena chahte the kyunki tumne unn dono ko college se rusticate karaaya thaa aur Geet ne "attempt to rape"ke charges par uss Dev ko arrest karaaya thaa. Warna jab poora college jaanta thaa ki Geet, Adi aur Armaan ko "rakhi" baandhti thee, toh Adi yaa Armaan se uska affair kaise hota. Armaan Geet ki dost, Riddhima ka tab mangetar thaa aur abb pati hai." (Maan, you are erupting like a volcano by just hearing about their misdeed, think what would have happened if their disgusting plan would have actually turned out to be true by their misbehaving with Geet and Annie. Dev thought that by poisoning your mind, you would leave Geet and he will make her his. Dev and Rahul wanted to take revenge from you and Geet. You for getting them rusticated from the college and from Geet as she got Dev arrested on charges of "attempt to rape". Otherwise whole college was aware that Geet considered both Adi and Armaan as her brothers and ties "rakhi" to them, so how could she have affair with Armaan? Armaan at that time was Geet's best friend Riddima's fiance and later became her husband.)
"Kya Armaan Geet ka bhai hai?" (Armaan is Geet's brother?)
"Haan, aur Geet kaa Professor Balasubramanium se bhi koi rishta nahi hai siwaye ek "guru aur shishaya" kaa. Professor Balasubramanium kuch bright students ko extra coaching dete the jiss se woh H*****d University mein apply kar saken. Geet bhi wohi kar rahi thee. Jab tumne unhein cafeteria mein dekha toh Geet ka haath kat gaya thaa aur Professor Balasubramanium usmein ice laga rahe the, uss samay Adi aur Vicky doctor ko bulaane aur First Aid box laane gaye the." (Yes, just as there was no relationship between Geet and Professor Balasubramanium except the relationship of student and teacher! Professor Balasubramanium was giving extra coaching to a handful of students who wished to apply at H*****d University. Geet was also one such student. When you saw both of them alone at the cafeteria, Geet had cut her hand and Professor Balasubramanium was applying ice to her hand while Adi and Vicky went to call the doctor and bring the First Aid box respectively.) Garima added.
"Dev ne tumhari Geet ko lekar jo jealousy, possessiveness aur insecurity thee woh tumhare aur Geet ke relationship ke against use kiya hai." (Dev used your jealousy, possessiveness and insecurity for Geet against your relationship.) Savitri Devi concluded.
"KYA? Iska matlab maine apni Geet par bewajeh shaq kiya!" (WHAT? That means I suspected Geet without any rhyme or reason!) Maan could not hold burden of another guilt any longer and his legs gave way and he sat down on the floor crying his heart out realising how wrong he was to suspect his simple, naive and innocent MISHTY!!
To lighten atmosphere, Garima asked,"Maan kuch aur battein batao jo tum aur Geet ne saath ki hongi. Aur jiske baare mein sochkar tumhein muskurahat aati ho!" (Maan tell us some more incidents of Geet and you. Incidents which when you think about, you start smiling.)
"Dadimaa aur Maa, ek baar Geet mujhe zabardasti ek dhabbe par le gayi." (Dadimaa and Maa, Geet once forcibly took me to a dhabba.)
"DHABBA?"
"TUM?" (YOU?)
"Haan! Maine plan bannaya thaa ki Adi aur uski girlfriend, Pinky, Geet aur mai "Sunshine Resort" mein dinner ke liye chalenge. Magar kissi wajeh se Adi aur Pinky aa nahi paaye. Toh Geet ne kahaa, "Chaliye uss five star restuarant ke bajaye Dhabbe par khaana khate hain."
Maine kahaa "Dhabba aur mai? NEVER! Wahaan kaa food itna unhygienic hota hai."
"Agar garam aur fresh khaana khaiye toh unhygienic bilkul bhi nahi hota. Aur wahaan ki daal..." chatkare lete hue Geet ka chehra ek dam dhabbe ke khaane mein kho gaya."
(Yes! I had made a plan that Adi, his girlfriend, Pinky, Geet and me will go to "Sunside Resort" for dinner. But to unavoidable circumstances, Adi and Pinky had to cancel our dinner program. Hence Geet suggested, "Lets go to a dhabba instead of a five star hotel."
I said,"Dhabba and me? NO NEVER! The food there is extremely unhygienic."
"If you eat hot and fresh food then its not unhygienic. And the dhabba's dal...' Geet said smacking her lips and got lost in dhabba's food.)
"Toh kya hua?" (Then what happened?)
"Tum Dhabba gaye?" (Did you go to Dhabba?)
"Did I have any choice, Maa?" Maan said helplessly.
"Matlab?" (Meaning?) Savitri Devi said with a smirk.
"Hassiye! Hassiye Dadimaa! Geet bhi aapki tehare emotional blackmail mein believe karti hai." (Laugh as much as you want Dadimaa! Geet also believes in emotional blackmail like you.)
"Emotional blackmail? Humne kab karte hain emotional blackmail?" (Emotional blackmail? When did I do emotional blackmail?)
Maan sat down and started narrating again, "Khair chodiye aap kabhi apni galati toh maanegi nahi. Geet mushkil se car mein beithi magar muh golgappe ki tehare phulakar. Agar mein shaanti chahta thaa toh Dhabba jaana hi best alternative tha. Hum dhabba paunhche aur wahaan kaa mauhol (environment) dekhkar mai dekhta hi reh gaya aur dhabbe ke beech mein ruk gayaa. Geet mujhe ruka hua dekh kar mere paas aayi aur apni ek ungli se mere kandhe par poke kiya. Geet bahut hi decent ladki hai, usne kabhi bhi mere paas aane ki yaa mujhe chunne ki koshish nahi ki. Jab usse meri attention attract karni hoti thee aur mai sunn nahi raha thaa toh mere kandhe par aa kar aise muje poke karti thee (Maan showed the action)"
(Forget it, you will never accept your mistake. Geet with lot of difficulty sat in car but with a sullen face. If I wanted peace in my life it was better that I agreed to go to Dhabba. On reaching dhabba I was stunned seeing the atmosphere and in my state of shock could not move. Geet seeing me standing like a statue in middle of dhabba, came and poked me on my shoulder. Geet is a very decent girl who never tried to come close to me or touch me. Whenever she wanted to attract my attention when she felt I was ignoring her she would come and poke at my shoulder.) Maan said.
"Phir?" (Then)
"Phir mujhe apni meethi-meethi batton mein uljhkar wahan se legayi aisi jageh jahaan kuch log "chaarpayi" (a bed-like thing made of 4 legs bound together by jute yarns which can be used either for sitting or sleeping!) par beithe the.
(Chaarpayi)
Udhar chaarpayi mein koi back support bhi nahi thaa mai girte-girte baccha (Savitri Devi and Garima with difficulty were keeping a straight face imagining Maan's plight.). Uske baad ek waiter nahi sorry "Chotu" aaya aur bina menu card ke Geet ka bahut bada order liya. Jab khaana aaya toh ek nayi story thee. Maine haat dhona chaha to dono Geet aur Chotu ne meri taraf aise dekha jaise mai alien hoon. Khair chotu ek jug mein paani le aaya mere haath dhone ke liye. Phir koi napkin yaa paper towel nahi thaa mere haath pochne ke liye uss chotu ne apna ganda gamcha mere aage kar diya haath pochne ke liye. Mai iss atmosphere se repulsive feel kar raha thaa magar humare aas paas jo log the woh maze se khaana khaa rahe the.
Iss se pehle ki mai khaana shuru karta, woh chotu ungli dooba peene kaa paani laaya."
(Then by sweet talks she took me to a place where other diners were also sitting on a "chaarpayi". As the chaarpayi had no back support, I nearly fell down. (Savitri Devi and Garima with difficulty were keeping a straight face imagining Maan's plight.) Then a waiter no sorry "Chotu" came without a menu card and took Geet's long dinner order. Then how dinner was served, that was another story. I asked where should I wash my hands? Both Geet and Chotu looked at me as if I'm an alien. Anway Chotu got in a jug some water and got my hands washed. As there was no chance of getting a napkin, Chotu extended his dirty cleaning cloth for me to wipe my hands. I was feeling so repulsive seeing this sight but people around me were heartily enjoying their food. Just then Chotu came with his hand dipped drinking water for us.) Maan gave a horrified expression. Unable to control themselves any longer, Savitri Devi and Garima bursted out laughing seeing Maan's horrified expression.
"Uske baad kya hua?" (What happened after that?) Savitri Devi asked after she calmed down.
"Mujhe aur kuch nahi battana!" (I don't want to narrate anymore!)Maan was furious hearing his grandmother and mother's laughter and got up to leave.
"Sorry abb hum dono nahi hassenge! Aap battaiye." (Sorry, we won't laugh anymore! Please continue.) Savitri Devi told Garima with her eyes and made Maan sit.
"Mai jab yeh unhygienic sight dekh raha thaa Geet ne tab tak khaana shuru kar diya. Tabhi ek traditional sikh family apne do shararati bacchon ke saath humari chaarpayi ki next chaarpayi par beithi aur Geet ne uss lady se baat karni shuru kardi. Batton batton mei mujhe patta nahi chala ki kab maine hari mirch khaane ki challenge accept kar li." (While I was observing this unhygienic sight, Geet had started eating. Just then a Sikh family arrived with their two naughty boys to sit next to our chaarpayi. Geet started gossiping with the lady like long lost friends. I don't know how and when the conversation led me to challenge that I will eat Green chilis!)
"MAAN, TUM AUR HARI MIRCH?" (Maan, you and green chillis?) Garima was stunned.
"Geet kehti rahi ki mujhe hari mirch nahi khaani chahiye kyunki mujhe uski aadat nahi magar mera male ego challenge ko haarne ke liye ready nahi thaa. Finally Geet ne mera haath pakad kar mujhe roka aur mujhe lassi peelayi." (Geet kept on saying that I should not have green chilis as I'm not used to it but my male ego refused to accept defeat. Finally Geet held my hand holding the chili and made me drink lassi.)
"Phir kya hua?" (Then what happened?)
"Kuch nahi. Humne khaana khaaya aur wapis apne ghar chale gaye." (Nothing much. We finished our dinner and both went to our respective homes.) Satisfied Savitri Devi and Garima left for their room and their work respectively. How could Maan tell his grandmother and mother that moustache made by lassi which was on Maan's lips, Geet had wiped it with her soft hands thereby arousing Maan.
On the way to their car, it had started pouring thereby drenching both Maan and Geet and giving rise to their passionate desires which resulted in their passionate hug and a passionate second kiss in the pouring rain!
