CHAPTER 38

Location: VIP Lounge, CITY HOSPITAL, JAIPUR
Savitri Devi then made a shocking revelation,"Doctors keh rahe hain ki agar bleeding nahi ruki toh bacche ke saath-saath hum Maa ko bhi kho sakt hain!"(Doctors are saying that if they are unable to stop her bleeding, we will loose the baby as well as Gayatri!) Saying this Savitri Devi started crying and leaving everyone stunned!
Dr. Varun was first to comment,"Ma'am, please calm down! Please don't be pessimistic! There has been lot of advance in Medical Science and Medical Technology. I would suggest that you take Mrs. Gayatri Singh to a big metropolitan city like Mumbai or Delhi where latest Medical facilities are available and show her to a competant Gynaecologist! I'm sure they will be able to sustain her pregnancy without harming Mrs. Gayatri Singh's health! First try and make arrangements for shifting her as soon as possible to Mumbai or Delhi with minimum jerks and discomfort!"
"RK Sir, we can get Khurana Chopper and transfer Geet to Khurana Hospitals in Delhi. I'll ask Doctor Uncle to arrange all necessary medical equipments and stretcher at time of our arrival! Dr. Shah had also come by the chopper today!"
"Excellent Adi! Please make all the arrangements beta! Sabse zaruri baath hai ki Maan ko Geet ke baare mei yaa uski sehat ke baare mei patta na chale. Geet ke saath helicopter mei kaun jaayega?" (Most important is that Maan should not know about Geet or anything related to her! Now who will go with Geet in helicopter?)
"Sir, you will have to excuse me as I have to leave as I have lot of patients waiting!"
"I understand doctor! Thank you for coming immediately from so far on our request!"RK nodded in agreement.
Hence, it was decided that Geet along with Varun and Savitri Deviji will fly to Delhi by the chopper. As the chopper was of Khurana Hospitals, it will have some Paramedical facilities as well. RK had informed Dr. Shashank about arrival of Geet and her need for a Gynaecologist immediately on landing! Rajmata along with Veer decided to follow by road; and Adi & RK will stay with Maan. Meanwhile Geet was wheeled in for Ultrasound and both Savitri Deviji and Rajmata accompanied the unconscious Geet. After about an hour and half, Geet was wheeled out. The sonographer came and gave the Ultrasound reports. Taking the reports, Varun and Savitri Deviji left with Geet immediately for Delhi. Geet being a patient of "Hemophilia" the cessation (stopping) of bleeding was getting extremely difficult. The only saving grace was that it was just spotting and not excess flow like in periods!
Location: KHURANA HOSPITALS, DELHI
Within two hours they reached Delhi and were rushed to AER immediately. Dr. Shashank, Vicky and Geet's Gynaecologist, Dr. Girija Chauhan was waiting there. Dr. Varun by same chopper left for Mumbai.
Dr. Girija Chauhan immediately took charge and wheeled Geet in the labour room to examine her. After an hour of thorough examination and consulting Geet's reports from Jaipur, Dr. Chauhan decided to do another Ultrasound as the images were not clear. After two hours it was midnight by now, Dr. Girija Chauhan came near Savitri Deviji, Dr. Shashank & Vicky and told her diagonosis, "Mrs. Geetika Khurana or Geet is in a very critical condition but all is not lost! The Ultrasound shows that Geet is suffering from "Placenta Previa" !"
"What is "Placenta Pre...pre..."?" Vicky asked.
"Actual definition of "Placenta Previa" is a condition in which the placenta partially or wholly blocks the neck of the uterus, thus interfering with normal delivery of a baby." (Source, Google) But in lay man's terms it means 'placenta is present the wrong way' i.e in majority of the cases placenta grows above the baby but in few cases placenta is below the baby! Hence, everytime the baby grows there is pressure put on the placenta thereby causing pain to the mother while standing and as there is pressure being put by the growing baby hence, sometimes bleeding also happens! In Geet's case, to complicate things further, there are two more things --- (counting on her finger)
(a) Geet suffers from"Hemophilia", hence stopping of bleeding is taking time; and
(b) Geet is carrying multiple pregnancies."
"Multiple pregnancies" means?" Vicky again questioned.
"Multiple pregnancies,means more than one baby i.e. twins, triplets or quadruplets! Thats the reason Geet has been feeling extremely tired and her baby bump has started showing as early as 4months!"
"What is the cure for it?"A crying Savitri Deviji said.
"Don't worry Ma'am! As I said before everything is not lost. Now we all have to be extremely cautious and patient. First we need to stop the bleeding; next she has to be on complete bed rest at hospital or home for a month or more; she can't climb stairs; she needs to have extremely nutritious diet and lastly, it CANNOT BE A NORMAL DELIVERY AND IT WILL BE DONE at 7months or later OF HER PREGNANCY! (Writer's liberty!) Where is her husband, Mr. Maan Singh Khurana?"
Savitri Devi narrated everything about Maan and Geet's first and second accident and both of their memory loss to Dr. Chauhan !
Location: CITY HOSPITAL, JAIPUR
Next day, Maan woke fresh and rested but felt something missing! His headache had reduced and a little headache that was present was not much, which a cup of freshly brewed black coffee will reduce. He was about to call Nakul for a cup of coffee, when a man in white coat presumeably a doctor arrived making Maan remember that he is in a hospital. "Abb aap ki tabiyat kaisi hai, Mr. Khurana"(How r you feeling, Mr. Khurana?)
"Fine! Absolutely fine! I want to go home!"
Just then Dr Rajnath Singh (FICTIOUS NAME!) walked in and said, "Yes you can go home. Can you please answer my few questions?"
Maan nodded yes. Dr. Singh asked few simple questions which Maan answered. Meanwhile RK and Adi arrived and were quitely standing while doctor was examining Maan. Dr. Singh finished his check up and ordered the nurse, "Prepare Mr. Khurana's discharge papers!"
Seeing RK, Maan asked, "Dad, Dadimaa, kahaan hain?" (Dad, where is Dadimaa?)
"Beta, unhei Delhi jaana padha kyunki Vicky sambhal nahi paa rah tha! Mai doctor se milkar aata hoon!"(She left urgently for Delhi as Vicky is unable to handle work in Delhi. I'll go and talk to Doctor!)
As soon as RK left the room, Maan pounced on Adi, "ADI, WHERE IS GEET? I know you know where she is ?"
"No Sir! Uss din ke baad hum sabne Geet ko nahi dekha hai! Police usse pichle chaar mahino se dhoondh rahi hai!" (No Sir! After that day, we have not seen her. Police is trying to find her for past 4months!)
"Adi, tum jhoot bol rahe ho, Dad jhoot bol rahe hain! Poori duniya jhoot bol rahi hai!" (Adi, you are lying and Dad is also lying and the whole world is lying!)
"Sir, aap yeh kaise keh rahe hain? Aap ko maloom hai, Geet kahaan hai?" (Sir, what are you saying? Do you know where Geet is ?)
"Nahi! Magar mujhe yeh maloom hai Geet zindaa hai magar healthy nahin hai!" (NO! But I know she is alive although not healthy!)
"Sir, aap yeh..."
"Agar yeh MAAN SINGH KHURANA AAJ ZINDAA HAI TO SIRF ISS LIYE KYUNKI USKI GEET ZINDAA HAI! MAI HOSH MEI HOON AUR HEALTHY HOON TO SIRF ISS LIYE KYUNKI MERI GEET NE MERI TAKLEEF APNE OOPAR LE LI HAI!" (If this MAAN SINGH KHURANA is alive today, its only because his Geet is alive! If I'm conscious and healthy, its ONLY because my Geet has taken away all of my pain and discomfort!)
Adi and RK (who had just entered) were stunned by Maan's emotional speech. Maan continued, "Adi, tum Dad aur Dadimaa, chahe mujhse kitna bhi chupaayen, mujhse maloom hai ki meri Geet theek nahi hai, takleef mei hai. Geet aur Mai bhale hi parivaar aur samaaj ke saamane apne pyaar ka izhaar karein yaa naa karein magar hum dono'do jism ek jaan hain!' GEET MERI JAAN HAI! Aur woh tab tak theek nahi hogi jab tak uska Maan uske paas nahi hoga! Khair, mujhse Delhi jaana hai, mujhe yahaan accha nahi lag raha hai!" (Adi, you Dad and Dadimaa may hide from me, but I know that My Geet is in pain! Geet and I may not express our love in front of family and society, but we are "two bodies, one soul"! Geet is my life! Geet will not get well as long as she is away from me! Anyway, I want to go to Delhi, I can't stay here anymore!) Maan left for washroom to get ready. Adi looked at RK's direction helpless!
Were Dadimaa and RK wrong in keeping Maan away from His Geet?
