CHAPTER 29

Geet was shifted to ICU, although visitors were not allowed but seeing Daarji's and Dadimaa's age and concern Nachiket allowed them to visit her for total of 5mins. But he said, "Maaji aur Bauji, abhi toh Geet surgery ke baad anaesthesia aur sedatives ke asar mei hai toh behosh hai. Shaam tak usse hosh aayega. Iss liye aap dono ghar jaaye, fresh hoiye, araam kijiye aur phir shaam ko ayegaa. Ghar par aap apne pote, Armaan se bhi mil lijiyega!" (Uncle and aunty, just now Geet is under the effect of anaesthesia and sedatives, hence is unconscious. I suggest you go home freshen up, rest and then come in evening when she regains her consciousness. At home, you all can also meet your grandson, Armaan!)
Hearing about Armaan, Daarji and Dadimaa immediately agreed.
Dr. Neil turned and said,"Raagini, if you don't have any other planned meeting, I suggest you go with them and take Maan with you as well as he must be exhausted! Have you got any RD (Resident Doctor) to check his wounds?"
Raagini nodded negative saying Maan was not listening to her. Nachiket asked her to leave as he will handle Maan. She left with Daarji, Dadimaa and Naina. Nachiket asked Maan why did he not get treated but Maan said he was fine. Finally, Nachiket lost his temper on Maan and as Dr. Neil ordered, "Maan either you go and get yourself treated willingly or I'll be forced to admitted you in the hospital as well!"
Seeing no way out, he went with Yash to the OPD (Out Patient Department) and got himself treated. Lucky was sitting at waiting room of ICU. Although Geet was fired at but Maan had also fallen on bricks lying on the ground of amusement park when Geet pebbled him. He had not got critically hurt but still was badly bruised. After being bandaged, Maan along with Yash left for his home where his Armaan was present. Rishi had called Maan a number of times saying Armaan is asking for Geet and him.
Maan walked inside Geet's apartment, where lot of commotion was going on along with hysterical Armaan and yelled, YEH KYA HO RAHA HAI?"
Hearing Maan's voice, Armaan got down from Raagini's lap and rushed to Maan crying hysterically, "Dad!... Dad! Whewe...
wew...you? Whewe...is...Maa? I...don't...know...
these people! Who..awe..they?" (Dad!Dad! Where were you? Where is Maa? I don't know these people! Who are they?)
Maan rubbed Armaan's back calming him down. He requested his family to also calm down and sit. Then Maan started introducing them to Armaan. "Amy beta, this is my Grandmother, we all call her Dadimaa!"
Armaan got down from Maan's lap hesitantly but holding Maan's hand with his one hand and bent down to touch Dadimaa's feet with other hand saying "Namaste!" Impressing everyone present and making them praise Geet for being a good mother imparting Indian values and culture to her son!
Next Maan took him to Daarji, "Amy beta, this is your Maa's Grandfather, we all call him Daarji!"
Armaan was still holding Maan's hand tightly with his one hand and bent down to touch Daarji's feet and said "Namaste!"
"Amy beta, this is your Maa's Mother, you can call her "Nani"!
Armaan bent down to touched Naina's feet saying again,"Namaste, Nani!" The three elders were ecstatic to see their great grandson and grandson respectively!
Later in the day, Daarji, Dadimaa and Naina along with Maan went to see Geet and relieve Yash and Lucky from their duty. "Bhai, Geet abhi bhi hosh mei nahi aayi hai!" Seeing Savitri Devi glare Yash immediately corrected himself, "Mera matlab hai ki Bhabhi abhi bhi behosh hain!" (Bro, Geet is still unconscious! Seeing Savitri Devi glare Yash immediately corrected himself, I mean bhabhi is still unconscious!)
"Koi gal nahi puttarji, tum Gudiya ko naam se bula lo!" Daarji tried to make Yash calm.(Yash you can call Geet by name!)
"Nahi bhaisaheb! Geet humare ghar ki badi bahu aur usse sammaan milna chahiye!" Savitri Devi said. (No Lalaji! Geet is eldest daughter-in-law of our home, she should be given proper respect!)
"Behanji, bacchon ne Maan putter aur Gudiya ki shaadi naa dekhi aur naa hi shaamil hue to unka yeh bhulna ki Geet unki bhabhi hai, swabhaavik hai!" Daarji tried to placate Savitri Devi . (Savitri Deviji, children have neither seen nor witnessed Maan and Geet's wedding so their forgetting Maan and Geet's marriage is understandable!)
Just then ICU nurse came and said, "Mr. Khurana, your wife is conscious and calling you!"
Maan was delighted that Geet is conscious and went running to her. When he saw her lying weakly on ICU bed he was very frustrated! As Geet's face was covered with oxygen mask, Geet called Maan near her with fluttering of her eyes!
Removing her mask, Geet said in a very feeble voice, "Suniye! Aap...theek...hain...na! Aapko...goli...toh...nahi
...la...la..." (I hope you are fine? I hope bullet didn't touch you?) Geet started gasping for breath while talking as she was getting stressed. Maan quickly put on the oxygen mask and rang for nurse. Nurse asked Maan to leave but Geet held his hand and refused to let it go.
The continous falling tear drops in her eyes were telling a tale that she remembers her past and with how much difficulty she stayed away from her love, HER MAAN! Just then Dr. Neil and Raagini arrived and seeing Geet's grip on Maan's hand and tears in Geet's eyes understood everything! Nachiket signalled nurse to prepare a sedative and Dr. Neil sat near Geet quitely injected the tranquiliser so she relaxes and sleeps while talking to her gently, "Aaj meri Geet ko uska Maan mil gaya. Haina? Meri Durgaa beti apne 'Baba' aur 'Aai' ko apne Maan se nahi milayegi? Milayegi naa? Toh bass abb soo jaao aur jab need se uthogi to hummei apne Maan se milaana. Theek hai?"(So today Geet has got her Maan. Isn't that so? My daughter, Durgaa will introduce her 'Baba' and 'Aai' to Maan? You will introduce right? So now you go to sleep my dear, and when you wake up, introduce your Maan to us. Ok?) Geet nodded affirmative but didn't let go of maan's hand and her eyes started getting heavy with the effect of tranquiliser and she went to sleep.
After Geet had slept Nachiket untangled Geet's fingers from Maan and everyone wnt outside where the whole family was present. Nachiket started talking, "Maan, I think you were right that Durgaa, I mean Geet has got back her memory. But to be absolutely sure, I have paged Dr. Vishwanathan, he should be here in about few hours! Maan the reason Raagini and I had not let you stay in Geet's apartment was because of few reasons - firstly as I had mentioned due to society criticizing Geet's character; secondly that Geet used to wake up in middle of the night painfully crying your name, "Maan"; and thirdly, she use to sometimes hysterically cry saying "Daarji, apni Gudiya ko maaf kardijiye ki mere kaaran aapki izzat nilaam ho gayi hai! Apki Gudiya aapka guroor nahi hai abhishap hai!!" and try to hurt herself by stabbing herself with scissor or knife. In morning when she woke up, she had no recollection of it! This is the reason that Shaanta use to sleep in Geet's room so she doesn't hurt Armaan!!" (Daarji, please forgive you Gudiya that because of me your prestige has been ruined. Your Gudiya is no longer your pride but your curse!)
"Dr. Vishwanathan, Nachiket and I could understand that she deeply loved someone called "Maan" who has been seperated from her but could not understand her pleading forgiveness to her Daarji. Along with it her becoming violent and aggressive." Raagini concluded.
"Har samay ek naari ki hi "agni-pariksha" li jaati hai aur ek naari hi kasoorwaar kehlati hai?" Savitri Devi said disappointed and defeated with tear in her eyes. (Every time a woman has to give tests and a woman is blamed!)
"Maaji aap kya kehna chaha rahi hain?" Raagini asked. (What do you want to say Mrs. Khurana?)
Savitri Devi with Maan's help narrated the whole story from the party night incident to Maan and Geet's marriage and finding the whole story from driver, Ramlal and Panditji. Thereby shocking Nachiket, Daarji, Raagini, Naina and Lucky at sequence of events!
