CHAPTER 7
ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any royal titles, architectural terms,IT terms & programs, office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE. PLEASE DON'T BASH ME !!!!!
Maan was thoroughly confused but was getting the basic story. Geet was in love with someone and got married secretly. Then they had their suhaag raat (making Maan tighten his fist & teeth in anger), making Geet pregnant. That boy left Geet, her family chucked her out knowing about her pregnancy. Then baby also died leaving Geet totally broken. Maan called Adi and asked him as a friend to ask Sameera about Geet.
Adi by his persuasive skills called Sameera to Chopra Construction on Sunday morning. Sameera had a rough inkling why Adi wanted to meet her! As it was Sunday, Geet was busy with her dance and music classes! Every weekend, Geet taught classical dance & music to poor & orphan children at the local orphanage! Hence, Sameera's absence will not be questioned. The the whole office was empty when Sameera walked in! Maan had reached early and hid himself from Sameera's sight. Sameera came and started narrating Maan and Geet's love story as she knew, taking Maan into his past.
Six years back, Maan was Final Year student in Masters of Architecture in a prestigous University in US . There were 5 best friends - Adi, Arjun, Sameera (Sam),Rishabh(Rishi) & Maan. Arjun & Maan were in Final Year M. Arch. Adi was in Accountancy stream. Rishi was in Economics with his major interest in kick boxing & weight lifting! Sam was in Third Year B. Arch. Soon Arjun and Sameera fell in love and started dating! One day Maan was returning with Arjun after having extra lectures. When they saw a young girl in green salwaar-kurta punching & kicking in Karate style, the two boys who were troubling her cute but a little plump friend. Maan was about to go and help the girl when Arjun held him back saying, "Ruk jaa Maan, dekh abb teri zarurat nahi hai!" (STOP Maan, see you are not needed!) When Maan looked in the girls' direction, he saw the goons on floor. The girl in green salwaar-kurta turned, Maan's world stood still! He was spell bound seeing her milky white skin, hourglass figure, hazel eyes and curly hair tied in a tight braid. Although due to the intense fight some curly tendrils had escaped from her severe hair style!
Maan was trying to find the brave girl in green salwaar-kurta but it was impossible as he neither knew her name nor address. One day he had just entered his college, when a soft female body hugged him and whispered in a very sweet voice close in his ears, "Sir please forgive me! I have to kiss you otherwise those senior boys will misbehave with my friend, Pinky!"
Maan was very curious so he just turned his head to see the girl, just at the same time the girl was placing a kiss on his cheek. As Maan suddenly turned the kiss landed on Maan's lips! Seeing his dream girl so near him, Maan pressed his lips on hers with a little pressure for 2-3 seconds more than needed."Tumhara naam kya hai?" Maan asked sternly holding her tightly from waist. (What is your name?)
"Please sir, complain matt kijiyega varna mera saal barbaad ho jayega!" The girl begged scared. (Please sir, don't complain, my one academic year will get wasted!)
"Nahi karunga complain, magar apna naam batao!" Maan's hand tightened on her waist and her dupatta (It was a National Dress day in their college) got entangled in Maan's hand. (I won't complain, but tell me your name!) "GEET!" Saying this she ran away from Maan. But in hurry to leave, her dupatta was left in Maan's hand.
"Aakhir mujhe mere "pyaar ka nazraana" mil gaya.(Maan said looking at the dupatta) Aaj nahi to kal tum meri hogi Geet!"(At last I got my gift of love. If not today but soon you will be mine!)
Maan then saw three boys, who were troubling Geet & her friend. They were from Final Year B. Arch but not from their prestige college but from a C grade college nearby! He called Police and got them arrested.
Geet after asking few senior students i.e. Sameera and Meera came to know the name of person she kissed was Maan Singh Khurana. One day, Geet went apprehensively after class to Maan's class. Maan was chatting with his friends, Rishabh and Adi. She hesistantly went near Maan and said, "Maan Sir kya aap ke paas mera dupatta hai?" (Maan sir, do you have my dupatta?)
"Nahi toh! Tumse kisne kaha ki mere paas tumhara dupatta hai? Main ladki hoon kya jo dupatta pehanoga?" (No! Who told you that I have your dupatta? I'm a girl who will wear a dupatta?)
Geet shyly nodded "no" and ran away from there. "Kya Maan itni pyaari aur bholi ladki ko darra diya?" Rishabh said. (What Maan, you scared such a sweet and innocent girl?)
"Kyun Maan pehli dafa tumhe kissi ladki se baat karte dekha hai?"(Maan, this is the first time, you have spoken to a girl.)
"Haan yaaron! Geet ke bholepan aur sadagi se mujhe pyaar ho gaya hai! Mujhe Geet se pyaar ho gaya hai!" (Yes! I love Geet's innocence and simplicity. I love Geet!)
"Magar Maan, tumhari dono ki umar mei bahut faraq hai!" (But there is a vast age gap between you both!)
"Jaanta hoon! Iss liye uss se apne dil ki baat abhi tak nahi ki hai!" (I know! Thats why I have not confessed!)
Geet was also falling for Maan day by day, and was following him stealthily where ever he went i.e. classes, library, cricket field etc. Maan was also in the same boat and was following her! Both knew that they were being watched by the other but did not have courage to confront one another!
Days converted to weeks; weeks to months; and months to year. Both of them still did not confront and confess! It was end of academic year, the First Years Bachelors had to organize a "FAREWELL PARTY" for Final Year of Bachelor degrees and Final Year of Masters degree. To make sure that "FAREWELL PARTY" runs smoothly, it was divided discipline(subject) wise i.e. First Years Bachelor of Architecture had to organise a "FAREWELL PARTY" for Final Year of Bachelor of Architecture and Final Year of Masters of Architecture, Science for their Graduates & PGs & so on! Party was held in a prestigious hotel. The First Years Bachelor Students had organised an entertainment program for their seniors. Many First Year students were performing and asked Geet as well. But Geet refused as she did not know Western dance! Sameera coaxed her and taught her few Salsa steps. Geet was wearing a white saree with sleeveless and backless blouse (Kurban Hua) and did a romantic salsa with Sameera playing a boy's role.
"Pyaar ki kahani sunno,
Ek ladka tha, Ek ladki thi..."
(Imagine instead of Maan, Sameera!)
The dance finished with a thunderous applause! Seeing Geet doing such passionate and seductive Salsa moves, Maan was turned on! He could not wait any longer to confess to Geet. And make her his in all senses!
It was just then, Sasha in Third Year Bachelor of Architecture came to Maan with a drink. Maan would have refused sternly but she was their loyal Munshiji's daughter, so accepted it. Khurana's were highly indebted to Munshiji for saving Maan's father, Ranjit Singh Khurana's life long back, hence, had taken responsibility of Sasha's education. That's why she was studying in same college as Maan. Maan never liked Sasha as she was very rude to her juniors and had a condescending attitude! Maan was not aware that Sasha had smuggled alcohol and drugs in Farewell Party. The spiked drink which was given to Maan had started showing its effect! He was feeling dizzy and sleepy. Sasha tried playing a Good Samaritan and took Maan with her to a private room in the Hotel where the Farewell Party was being held. Sasha had just made Maan lie on the bed, when she got a call from her boy friend, Rahul. She went outside so that Maan doesn't overhear the conversation! While Sasha was busy, someone locked the door from inside.
Geet was in the Hotel Lobby when she heard about Sasha's devious plan! She immediately told Sameera. They followed Sasha and found the room where she was going to take Maan. After Geet and Sameera's performance, Sameera bribed the housekeeping staff of the Hotel to let Geet be inside the room. While Sameera went to the main venue to stop Maan from having the drink! But unfortunately Sameera reached late and Maan had already had the drink spiked by Sasha. When Sasha went out of the room, Geet locked the room. Sasha tried pushing the door but it didn't open. She could have tried banging the door or calling the staff to open, but it would raise suspicion on her. Sasha was fuming mad and called Rahul ! Rahul thought it better to abort their plan for present otherwise suspicion will arise leading to further problems. Already 3 of his friends were in jail! It was Rahul and Sasha's revenge plan for getting Rahul's friends arrested for ragging and misbehaving with a girl!
"After that what happened Adi, I don't know. I only know two weeks later, Geet was pregnant and I assumed that as Maan & Geet were crazy for one another they came together physically as well. But next morning when I questioned Maan, he had no knowledge of what happened due to Maan's drink being drugged by Sasha. So I didn't bring out my suspicion in open and besides Geet needed my help after being chucked out of her home! Geet was three months pregnant with baby, "Dhruv" as she liked to call the unborn baby. Suddenly one day Sasha came behaving very friendly towards Geet, Meera, Pinky and I were not around. In our absence, Sasha gave Geet a drink which was laced with poison, in honour of becoming friends with her. Which our innocent and gullible Geet had. Sasha wanted to kill Geet as she had complained to Maan about Rahul's friends! But Geet was saved and the baby died."
"Sameera you are sure Dhruv was Maan and Geet's baby?"
"Adi, I'm not 100% sure as Dhruv's DNA cannot be done now, but circumstances point towards it! Geet WAS, IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE MAAN'S! Whether Maan accepts her or not! I know Maan has put you up to finding truth related to their past! But just tell your dear friend not to hurt my sister anymore because she will not be able to handle anymore rejection! She is very near a nervous breakdown, one more rejection will break her completely! Now I have to leave, before Geet gets suspicious. Bye Adi!"
Maan who had heard everything did not know what to do to reduce his guilt. However, one thing he was certain and that was to punish Sasha & Rahul, not as Maan but as MSK!
