CHAPTER 2
ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS(if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any royal titles, architectural terms,IT terms & programs, office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE. PLEASE DON'T BASH ME !!!!
Talking to Dadimaa, both Maan and Yash got into action. They left their clients office and asked the driver of their hired car to take them to "GK Apple Orchard Cottage, second right turn from Shiv Mandir!" Once they arrived at the cottage, and were about to ring the door bell, Maan's phone rang and he moved a little distance to attend it but signalled Yash to carry on! Yash rang the door bell and it was opened by a young girl wearing a white Tussar silk saree with pink border. "Ji Kahiye?" (Yes!)
"Humari Nanimaa, yahaan hain?" (Is my grandmother here?)
"Nanimaa?"
"Savitri Devi Khurana!"
"Oh ! Mujhe laga ki unke pote aanewale hain!" (Oh! I thought he other grandson will come.)
"Woh kaam mei busy hain. Main unka dhevta Yash Malhotra hoon! Aur aap?" (He is busy in work so I've come! I'm her daughter's son, Yash Malhotra. And you are?)
"Mai hoon Geetika Singh! Aaye andar aaye! Chai/ Coffee kya lenge?" (Please come in. What would you like, tea/coffee?)
"Woh hum jaldi mei...!" (We are in a hurry...!)
"Itni thaand hai kuch toh lijiye!" (Its so cold. At least have something!)
"Theek hai, chai!" (Ok. Tea!)
"Adrakwali?" (With ginger!)
"Perfect!"
"Aaye Dadimaa yahaan hain!" Geet guided him to Savitri Devi and left. (Please come in Savitri Deviji is here!)
Yash seeing Savitri Devi, got annoyed, "Yeh kya Nanimaa? Maan bhai ne iss liye hi aap ko akele jaane se manna kiya tha!" (What is this Grandma? Maan had thats why requested you not to go alone!)
"Aae Maan ke chamche bass! Aap yeh bataaye ki yeh ladki aap ko kaisi lagi?" (Enough Maan's follower! You tell me how did you like the girl?)
"Kaunsi ladki?" (Which girl?)
"Geetika"
"Maan bhai se pahela mai shaadi nahi kar sakta!" (I can't ger married before Maan bhai!)
"Yash kya aap sach mei itne bhole hain ki drama kar rahe hain? Hum Maan ki shaadi ki baat kar rahe hain !" (Yash are you this innocent or are play acting? I'm talking about Maan's wedding!)
"Toh phir theek hai!" Yash relaxed (Then its ok!)
"Kash Vicky humare saath hota. Maan aur aap useless hain inn mamloon mein!" (I wish Vicky was with me. Maan and you are useless in these things!)"Khabardaar jo aap ne Maan ko iske baare mei bataaya! Agar bataaya toh aap ki khair nahi!" (Don't you dare tell Maan about this. If you do, then God help you!)
Just then Geet walked in with 'adrakwali chai'. Both grandmother and grandson enjoyed tea and snacks and left with profusely thanking Geet! Maan had just finished his call when Savitri Devi and Yash walked out of the cottage. All three sat in the car and left!
Location : CHOPRA CONSTRUCTIONS
Next day, Geet arrived early in Chopra Constructions as she is the chief architect there. Chopra Constructions is a local construction company in Manali district. Mr. Chopra is a nearing 60yr. old man who lost his whole family in one of the major earthquakes which occurred 7yrs. back in this area. In these 7yrs., he has not taken any new projects as he has lost the will to live and is finishing the already signed contracts. He met Maan in one of the Construction Business seminar and requested him to help him by buying his dwindling company! Initially Maan refused but when his team researched they found lot of potential in the area and he agreed for the deal! He had come to see the company and meet few employees before taking over! Mr. Chopra had called the whole staff few days back, consisting of majority males with only two females - Geetika and Parineeta (Pari), Geet's secretary. Mr. Chopra told them the news of Chopra Constructions being sold. The workers were furious at the thought of loosing their jobs but Mr. Chopra and Geet tried to calm them by saying they will talk to the future owner, Mr. Maan Singh Khurana. That is why Geet was taken aback hearing his name mentioned by Savitri Devi!
It was sharp 10am., when one of the workers came to tell Mr. Chopra and Geet of Maan's arrival. A worker wanted to garland him to show their love and respect but he took the garland respectfully and handed it to Adi. One by one he was introduced to all. Then he was introduced "Mr. Khurana, yeh hain humari Chief Architect, Miss Geetika Singh, jinke designs aap ko pasand aa rahe the!"(Mr. Khurana, this is our Chief Architect, Miss Geetika Singh, whose designs you liked!) Maan looked at Geet, she looked at Maan. Time stood still for them, it felt that these past 6yrs. never happened. "Geet beta, haat milao, Mr. Khurana intezaar kar rahe hain!" Mr. Chopra's voice broke their trance referring to Maan's out stretched hand. (Geet shake Mr. Khurana's hand. He is waiting!)
Geet folded her hand in "namaste" and said, "Mr. Khurana, Chopra Constructions mei aap ka swagat hai!" (Mr. Khurana, welcome to Chopra Constructions!)
"Thank you!" Maan could not believe that he was standing in front of His Geet. Geet his love, his junoon, his passion, his life! But the Geet he fell in love with 6yrs. back was very different to the Geet standing in his presence. No doubt, physically she is more beautiful, elegant, graceful and poised than his innocent, spontaneous and playful Geet. His Geet's voice was full of innocence, love and warmth; and this Geet's voice is cool, professional and unemotional!
"Geet beta, show Mr. Khurana all our sites. Also introduce him to our staff."Mr. Chopra requested.
"Yes Sir! Pari arrange the car for site visits immediately!" Geet ordered.
"Mr. Khurana, please sit in my office with Mr. Srivastav (Adi) till arrangements are made!"
In Mr. Chopra's office, "Maan yaar, Geet ko kya hogaya? Mai toh usse pehchanta hi nahi agar Chopra ne introduce nahi kiya hota!" (Maan, what has happened to Geet? I won't have reconised her, if Mr. Chopra wouldn't have introduced!)
"Adi, kuch toh zarur huwa hai jo Geet mere se ek ajnabi ki tehara mil rahi hai! Geet mujhe se che saal baad mili hai, aur aise baat ki, jaise mere se pehli baar mil rahi ho!Abb woh mujhse chaah kar bhi door nahi reh sakti!" (Adi, something has definitely happened, Geet met me as a stranger. Geet met me after 6yrs., but behaved like she met me for first time! Now she won't be able to stay away me, even if she wants!)
"Maan, agar uski zindagi mei koi aur...?"(Maan, but if there is someone else...)
"NAHI! GEET MERI THI, MERI HAI AUR MERI RAHEGI!" Maan said with determination. (NO! GEET WAS MINE, IS MINE AND WILL ALWAYS BE MINE!)
"Maan, calm down! Let me find out about Geet's marital and family status before you start wooing her!"
