CHAPTER 22
ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any royal titles, architectural terms,IT terms & programs, office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE. PLEASE DON'T BASH ME !!!!!
It was a week after Maan and Geet's arrival and Yash was to leave for Delhi soon. In this one week Geet noticed lot of changes in Pari and Yash's behaviour. Both had mellowed down, all Yash's important files and documents were with Pari. Yash was extra careful about Pari's whereabouts and did not let Pari go alone where there were mainly male workers! Also Pari had started dressing more in Indianized way compared to before! Geet wanted to confirm her suspicion, she took Maan in her confidence and made a plan. "Yash bhaiya, accha hai aap wapis jaa rahe hain, Dadimaa ne aap ke liye shaadi ke liye kuch ladkiyaan dhundhi hain!" Yash and Pari choked on their respective coffee. (Yash, its good you are going back as Dadimaa has selected a girl for you for marriage!)
"Geet accha hai na. Abb Yash ke khaane ka bhi koi dhyaan rakhnewali hogi, jaise tum mera rakhti ho!" (Good! Now there will be someone to look after his eating habits, like you do for me!)
"Pari, tum humare saath Delhi jaaogi training ke liye. Yash, tum Romeo aur Radhika ko apne saath le jaana aur training dilana. Mai Adi se baat karloonga!" (Pari you will come with us for training to Delhi. Yash, you will take Romeo and Radhika with you for training in Delhi! I'll brief Adi about them.)
"Yes Sir!"
"Ji Bhai!"
"Maan Sir, mujhe kuch kaam hai. Kya mai jaaon?"Maan nodded and Pari rushed away. (Sir, I have some work, can I leave?)
"Bhai, mai project ki file apne cabin mei bhul aaya hoon. Abhi laata hoon!" Yash also left. (Bro, I have my file in cabin, I'll just bring it and come!)
Leaving Maan and Geet in splitz of laughter.
"Suniye! Chaliye dekhte hain kya ho raha hai?" (Lets go and see what is happening?)
"Nahi! Unn dono ko privacy do!" (No! Give them privacy!)
"Chaliye naa!" Geet said pulling Maan behind her and stopped outside Pari's cabin. (Lets go!)
In Pari's cabin, "Pari, mai sirf tumse shaadi karoonga aur kissi se nahi!" (Pari, I'll marry only you and no one else!)
"Haan tabhi toh apne parivaarwalon ko humare baare mei nahi bataaya! Mujhe shuru se maloom tha ki ameer ladke rishte nibhana nahi jaante. Phir bhi maine aap ke liye apne aap ko poori tehara badal dalaa!"Looking at her churidaar kurta she was wearing.(Yes, thats why you did not tell your family members about us! I always knew rich men don't pay importance to relationships! Even then I changed myself for you!)
"Nahi yeh baat nahi hai... Mai Maan bhai se baat karnewala tha!" (No! I was going to talk to bro!)
"Kab jab aapki shaadi ho jaayegi? Sir jo aap ko chahiye tha woh toh aapko mil gayaa!"(When after you were married? Anyway you have got what you wanted!)
"Kya matlab hai tumhara?" (What are you trying to say?)
"I'm saying that you wanted me physically and I gave in thinking it was love. Now I know it was not love but just lust for you!"
Stunning Yash as well as Maan and Geet who were overhearing the conversation!
"Aap ne toh apna mann behlaliya aur abb chale jaayenge. Mera kya? Radhika ne sahi kaha tha "Kasoor kewal aurat ka hi hota hai." Pari started crying bitterly! (You fulfilled your desires and now you will leave. What about me? Radhika was right "women are always blamed"!)
"Pari meri baat toh sunno..." Yash tried comforting her holding her shoulder. (Pari, please listen...)
"Mujhe kuch nahi sunna aap jaaye sir!" Pari jerked Yash's hand away! (I don't want to hear anything. Please leave, Sir!)
Maan could not hold his temper any longer, he came inside the room and punched Yash hard on his jaw. "Yash I never thought YOU could forget your morals and values and stoop so low!" Geet tried stopping Maan but it was not helping he kept punching Yash. "Do you know by your misbehaving with Pari what implications can arise?"
"Yes I can be arrested!"
"No there could be a life growing inside Pari now!" Making Pari touch her abdomen. "When did you do this despicable act?" Maan thundered. Pari blushed red.
Geet took Pari and went to her cabin. With a little compassion and sympathy, Pari narrated the sequence of events. It was snowing they got trapped in office. To keep themselves warm they had brandy which was kept in office for medicinal use. One thing led to another and next morning they woke up in each others arms without clothes!
"Pari according to what you have told me you both are equally reponsible for what happened. Don't you agree?"
"Yes!"
"Sabse pehle doctor se check up karaate hain!" (First lets go and consult a doctor!) Maan had come with a sombere Yash. "Bhaee, galati toh dono ki hai, iss liye sazza bhi dono ko milegi!" Geet said in a jovial tone to lighten the atmosphere. (The mistake has been done by both of you so punishment will also be given to both of you!)
"SAZAA?" Yash and Pari said together. (PUNISHMENT!)
"Haan sazaa! Iss Sunday tum dono ki shaadi hai! " (Yes punishment! This Sunday, you both are going to get married!)
"SHAADI"Yash and Pari again said together. (MARRIED!)
"Geet is right. If there is a young life growing, I will not have any injustice done to it! Pari from today you are my sister like Meera!" Maan walked out of the room in famous MSK anger!
"Bhabhi, bhaiya mere se bahut gussa hain?" (Bhabhi, bro is very angry with me?)
"Haan gussa toh hain, magar aap unki chinta matt kariye, mai sambhal loongi! Aap Dadimaa aur Vicky bhaiya ko contact kariye! Pari tumhare ghar mei koi bade hain?" (Yes he is angry, but don't worry I'll handle. You try and contact Dadimaa and Vicky. Pari do you have any elderly relative?)
"Haan mere Mamaji hain Ma'am!" (Yes, my maternal uncle, Ma'am)
"Ma'am nahi bhabhi!" Yash corrected. (Not Ma'am bhabhi!)
"Wah Yash bhaiya abhi se!" Yash and Pari blushed "Pari, kya unka phone no. aur pataa de sakti ho?" (Pari, can you please give his address and phone no.?)
"Ji bhabhi!"
Geet knocked and went to Maan's cabin. She had ordered black coffee and pasta for Maan and fruit juice & parantha for herself. "Suniye! Aaj aap apna Dr. Ramamoorthy ko diya hua promise bhool rahe hain!" (You have forgotten the promise you made to Dr. Ramamoorthy?)
"Kaisa promise?" (What promise?)
"Ki mere khaane ka dhyaan rakhenge!" (That you will look after my nutritional needs!) Maan got up to go. Geet pulled him on sofa and put his head on her lap.
"Geet tum..." (Geet you...)
"Maine khanna manga liya hai!" (I have ordered food!)
Geet placed Maan's hand on her abdomen, outside drilling was going on due to which vibration sound was making baby's heartbeat race. Geet made Maan hear it and he calmed down. Hearing the sound of baby's heartbeat worked like a lullaby and Maan soon went to sleep. After half an hour there was a knock on the door, Geet placed a pillow under Maan's head and made the peon place food on the table. Geet started working,after half an hour Maan woke up. He found himself sleeping on sofa covered with Geet's shawl. Maan saw their covered lunch on the table. Geet rang for a fresh cup of coffee.
"Khaana aa gaya aur tumne nahin khaaya?" (Lunch had come and you did not eat?)
"Aap ke bina mai kaise khaati?" (How can I eat without you?)
Maan went freshened up and had their lunch together. After Maan was relaxed, Geet said, "Suniye, aap Yash bhaiya par gussa ho rahe hain bina paristithi (circumstances) jaane!" (Maan you are getting angry on Yash without seeing the circumstances!) Geet narrated the story Pari had told her. "Agar dekha jaaye toh unki aur humari kahaani ek hi hai. Sirf anter yeh hai ki aap nashe mei the Sasha ke wajeh se, magar mai nashe mei nahi thi. Yash aur Pari dono nashe mei the thand se bachne ke liye! Dono se yeh galti apne pyaar aur nashe ke kaaran hui hai!" (If you see in broader context both our stories are similar. Only difference is you were intoxicated by Sasha but I was sane. Yash and Pari were drunk in order to save themselves from cold! Both did this mistake being intoxicated by love and Brandy!)
Meanwhile in Geet's cabin, Yash and Pari cleared all their misunderstandings. When Maan and Geet reached Geet's cabin they found, Yash bent on this one knee held Pari's hand and said, "PARI I LOVE YOU! Will you marry me?" Then took out a ring from his little finger on left hand and made Pari wear it on her left hand's ring finger! Pari had tears shimmering in her eyes and responded, "YASH I LOVE YOU TOO! Yes I'll marry you!" They both were lost in each other and their trance was broken by sound of clapping! Maan and Geet entered. Yash apologised, "Bhai mujhe..."
"Yash you love Pari that is most important and you want to marry her."
"Accha, Yash bhaiya kya aap ne Dadimaa aur Vicky bhaiya ko contact kiya?" (Yash have you contacted Dadimaa and Vicky?)
"Woh bhabhi mai..." (Bhabhi I...)
"Dono bhai ek ki tehare ke hain. Kaam ke siwaye kuch yaad nahi rehta!" Geet muttered to herself thinking no one can hear her! (Both brothers are similar. Workaholic)
"Yash yeh sentence humne pehle bhi sunna hai na?" (Yash haven't you heard this sentence before?)
"Haan bhai. Woh..." (Yes bro...)
"Haan!Haan! Dono bhai beith ke meri burayi karo!" Geet started crying. (Yes. Both brothers sit and criticize me!)
"Maan sir, Geet Ma'am...?"
"Yash and Pari don't worry! Due to pregnancy hormones, she has extreme mood swings!" Maan said in a hushed tone. Maan saw that Geet had fallen asleep.
Maan, Yash, and Pari went to Maan's cabin as it was after office hours! Maan called Dadimaa & Vicky and told the whole situation. Dadimaa called after 30 mins. and the wedding was arranged on Sunday. Next day Maan and Geet went and met Pari's mamaji. He was a wise man only interested in Pari's happiness. So on Sunday two love birds were tied in holy matrimony but were not allowed to be together. Yash left with Dadimaa & Vicky for Delhi and Pari with her Mamaji for home. Before the newly wed departed, Dadimaa and Geet did few rituals! Rest of the rituals had to be waited till reaching KM in Delhi.
