Her foolish Mistake of

'Assigned Love'

(this is a lovely banner which i stole off Lakshmi, so thank you sweets for it)

It was a normal British day, cold and gloomy. Rain pattering onto the attic roof making the room sound hallow and empty much like what she left. Autumn was at its peak, fallen mush of leaves everywhere with huge puddles of murky water feeding the stray dogs. She looked at a couple of lost boys playing in the park from her attic window wishing to be free like them from this caged tension. If only she too had free liberty in life, but life and pressure go hand in hand and at this moment she was head on facing the most crucial point in her life. The point which would either break her or make her, the point where the world or at least some Institute would recognise her hard work and talent. She knew she had the mettle to bring success to her level, fom a very small age she had planned her future and followed the scheduled plan. By age 6 she was class monitor, aged 10 she was crowned as the best student of Newmill Primary School, age 14 she became Year leader and aged 16 she passed her GCSE's with flying colours. Life was perfectly ordered, she was smart; talented and dedicated.

That was until GEET happened to her. GEET the four letter word was not just a show but a classic tale about an arrogant, assertive but righteous man and a lively, beautiful and caring women, named Maan and Geet. It no longer remained a show for her but became a way of living and after months of searching, she came across the Geet Forum for fanatics such as herself. There she met lost souls and together they formed the basis of Maaneetian's. An addict by nature, she took to it like a fish to water. Initially she was reluctant and shy so she stuck to reading for the longest period of her membership and then with one comment things changed, soon she praised; joked and even wrote her own Maaneet creations. Life seemed picture-perfect, a fantasy world where all the possibilities seemed probable with her flawless couple Maan and Geet. But like all stories, there was evil lurking here too. The dark shadow the world knows as Assignments, projects and the pressure of grades. She spent the last four days slogging. Night and day seemed one in her world, out of 24 hours at least 20 hours were spent planning, writing, searching, screaming, cutting, throwing, crying and then writing again. Real life hit her hard yet she couldn't stop the addiction of visiting her fan-made world. She was officially now a gone-case, her entire life lay in one foolish mistake. She couldn't help but curse herself, life wasn't meant to be like this, just a couple months back she planned her rota.

Sorry but life's getting busier so I'm taking time off from writing' she typed informing her readers, the ever so ardent flowerers of her Maaneet work about her plans. She had a scheduled plan, everything set but the main fact was will she be able to stick to it.

A month later
2 months before the due date, she was still flowing through her craze. Yes she stopped writing but couldn't stop reading or reacting. Her craze grew bountiful, the fan-girl in her was at its peak. Be it the lecture theatres; seminar rooms; the library; bus or the train, Maaneet followed her where ever she went.
'Epithelia acts like the body's natural barrier protecting the organism from external stimuli i.e. chemical, pathogens... She heard her professor rattle on. But she was too involved in her phone to notice anything else.
'Mmm Assigned love sounds interesting' she thought aloud gaining attention from her friends who rolled their eyes knowing she's driving to doom.

'I can make any girl look good' the PRINCE of the college boasted to his gang of friends
'I doubt that' his arch enemy argued
'You want to bet on it' the first smiled in confidence, he never lost in his life
'The first geek that steps through the door will be your date for the Prom' the other shouted, wanting to become the new power in the arena. The prom was a grand affair and the prom king was reigned as the KING of college for the following year. The best of girls, food and games at his display, not to forget the fans of supporters who basically can fall off a cliff at one command.
'I accept' both accepted only for their friends to frown for another bet, another race and another show to begin.

'Who's that?' both shouted seeing a petite girl wearing a humongous hoodie and faded jeans with glasses that particularity covered half of the her face. Her hair tied into a messy bun with loose curls curtaining her round face and a huge rucksack. The enemy smiled seeing Mission Impossible enter while the charmer grimaced, a date with her was like dating Disaster Queen.

'She's Geet Handa, the college SM (Science and Maths) ambassador' they heard Yash say soundly. Oh this was one hell of a ride for Maan, the college sweetheart; Dev, the arch rival and Geet, the college nerd.

As she read the prologue, the real world that existed around her faded pushing her into a world of fantasy. The prologue captured the romantic soul that lay in her and the teenager sprang to life with the simple inclusion of prom, Meera knew this was one story she didn't want to miss.

Almost forgetting the reality that Maan was no Prince and this was no Fairy tale!

Her Foolish mistake - Part 2

'Hi there, you must be new' Maan probed seeing Geet alone at the lunch table. Lunches were a silent affair for Geet, for she liked to hibernate her brain readying to bask in knowledge thrown at her during lesson.

Care if I join you' even before she could react he was sitting opposite to her, displaying his perfect set of teeth which of course had no effect on Geet. She was immune to boys, a distraction too far from her reach.

No I've been here for the last 7 years' she answered tightly wanting to hint out that they also went to the same Primary School. She was tired of these fake models thinking they rule the school. Life as a Geek was hard with figs like him and carrots like his girlfriend around always calling her names. Of course being confused for a nerd was equivalent to going against the country for her. Nerds were socially awkward whereas Geeks were intellectually adaptable. Geet being a loyal Geek, took it as a personal failure if she swore so she very cleverly used food she hated to describe the not-so-likable characters in college, see socially adaptable.

'Oh I never realised, I'm sorry about that' he tried seeing her work her way through the cheese and onion pie.
'So what's your next class' he asked her to which she stood up to leave, she didn't understand why his here?
'Look if this is some kind of prank then back off, there's plenty more nugget's like you who's tried it all so I'm not exactly the right target' she expressed pressing her lips in a thin line. Maan Singh Khurrana was known for being a hard-core basketball player, the college favourite and way above Geet's social class. Plus him being prejudice and never even looking at fellow class mates that don't belong to his friends-circle was one the facts Geet observed over her years at Bridge High, a secondary and Sixth Form (college) combined school.

'Geet is it, look I'm just being friendly. You know trying to know everyone before we leave at the end of the year' he quickly added, this bet was crucial and Geet being a stubborn-ass wasn't an element he expected.

'Well then nice to meet you, bye' she rushed through the sea of people while Maan stood there hopelessly looking between her and his group of eager friends.

Great stuff' Meera rooted smiling to herself, already loving the strong female protagonist even if she's a Geek' as they put it.

'She's a tough-nut man, way harder than I thought' it's been three days and everything remained the same, with a trying Maan and an ignoring Geet.
'What did you expect, oh Maan I've been waiting for you all my life' Yash re-enacted a scene from Romeo and Juliet earning him a giggle. Both the friends then ran to the Sports Hall wanting to shoot some hoops.

'Geet wow, I can't believe it. You're in, what did aunty say' an enthusiastic Pinky shouted jumping from one corner of the hall to another feeling proud of her friend. Pinky was a chubby nerd who the college girls picked last for any sports, be it basketball; bench ball or even dancing. Of course that had doing to do with the fact that Pinky was horrendous at anything that required physical involvement, now did it?

'Not technically, my academic grades meet the criteria but I have to perfect my talent before the showcase. Their sending in an scout for the Gifted and Talented show and my piano instructor is moving abroad' Geet nervously edged her glasses before explaining what Ms. Handa thought about her leaving their home town to study 500miles away. It was a dream Geet harboured over years, adopting her father's shoe was a mission she thrived to achieve. Maan and Yash stood there at the corner of the hall, overhearing a conversation which was a 'private' topic. Maybe Mission impossible' was possible after all.

'So you think this would help' Yash questioned for the nth time, Maan had a full-proof plan but Yash wasn't that confident. Maan spent yesterday thinking of ways to loop in the great Geet Handa, she no longer was just a mere bet but a goal he needed to achieve.

'Hi Geet, erm I wanted to ask you something' Maan asked sitting next to her in Chemistry. After a lot of research he figured that most of his periods were shared with Geet, making his mission easier. It was almost as if this was destined to be.
'hmmm' she answered in monosyllables like usual
'I need help with Chem and Physics. I thought you could tutor me, please help my life depends on it' Maan requested faking earnestness while Geet looked perturbed, Maan being around her was a social issue. Sameera, Maan's ex of only 4 days already threatened her twice to back off but off what, being unsure and confused wasn't exactly the words used to describe Geet. Maan wasn't a friend, not even an acquaintance yet silent eyes and gossiping chicks followed her around.
'Why me, why not Adi?' she questioned finally looking his way and the first thing Maan realised was how beautiful her eyes were but hidden behind dreadful looking specs. Glasses got to go, Maan thought making a mental list, the bushy hair and the baggy top too

'Hey Meer what you up to' questioned Rob bringing Meera out of her Maaneet world
'Oh nothing, just reading' she said quickly minimizing the screen. She hoped Rob hadn't caught her lie, well she was reading if not a science paper at least a fiction piece, she thought fighting with her mind. So technically she wasn't lying, her over-persuasive side kicked her conscious into a coma.
'How's the project coming out?'

'Ermm just completing the background information, You' she asked wanting to get rid of him, Geet and Maan were finally seeing eye to eye but with this stupid Rob around she needed to wait now

'I've finished the poster, the final bits for the thesis left, then I'm over' he said feeling happy but causing Meera to wither in tension. What was this guy made of? She lied she hasn't even started and Rob's nearly finished, they still had more than half a month. Shit shit shit shes shewed, like a nail into a shelf shewed.

O what the hell Rob is a nerd! Meera concluded thinking about the full 17 days that was left till the deadline. She was a fast worker and if need be then she could always stay up a night or two. Finally feeling happy with herself she looked up to see Rob sitting next to her, increasing her frustration, the library has 241 bloody computers and he had to sit next to her. O what the hell? She needed to know what's going to happen but with Rob around it seemed impossible so Meera decided to start her project instead.

After a couple of days of persuasion Geet finally agreed, but not for Maan. Adi was her best friend along with Pinky and there was no chance in hell he wanted to be teaching Maan, who he mentored previously. Which obviously worked out fine since Maan only wanted Geet.
'Meet me in my house at 5pm' she ordered before going her own way. Maan threw a fist-up, finally after 2 weeks of following Geet was agreeing to his terms. Never in his life has he worked this hard for a girl, that too a girl like her.

'No cyclohexane's are single bonded with a formula of C6H12, it's an colourless and flammable alkane and used in industries.' Geet ventured to a bored-out-of-his-head Maan

We were taught this in year 9 Maan' Geet was irritated, teaching Maan was a tough task no wonder Adi wanted no part of it. Maan wasn't exactly the most studious pupil but for the sake of the bet he stayed up late at Geet's house. It was also helpful that they lived in the same neighbourhood, Geet belonged to the high-status family, her father was an inventor but her mother owns a renowned fashion line which brings in huge revenues. Ironically Geet had no iota of fashion or how the rich behaved. She was a simple and gentle geek in all standards. While Maan was the future of Khurrana Construction, one of the best construction firms in the world and he showed all its affluence through his way of living.

Opposite people together under strange situation, over a bet. I doubt this would last' Meera thought while travelling back home on the train late in the evening after another hard day at the University.

Her Foolish mistake - Part 3

'Geet it's late, can I go home now' he requested pulling the doggy eyes to which Geet agreed. Things between them changed over the last few days, no they weren't friends but Geet was no longer paranoid in his presence. But things were getting harder with Sameera around. Some imbecile was spreading rumours of Geet and Maan dating, so the Ex was back in full force.

The next day was a Saturday and Geet was busy practicing her piece, the Talent show was only 2 months away and with Maan, her schedule was deeply affected.

'WOW that's beautiful' Maan congratulated entering the studio to which Geet quickly scattered to her feet.

'But' he stressed coming close
'But what'
'The some notes are wrong, here listen' with that he played the same musical ensemble shocking Geet with the melodious sound
'You know how to play the piano' it was more of a statement than a question, to say he played well was an understatement.

That formed a new friendship, Geet the educational mentor and Maan the music genius. They talked more freely in college, Geet became a regular in Maan's group who welcomed her with open arms. Whereas Adi and Pinky were more reluctant, not exactly liking Geet's involvement with Maan knowing he must have an ultra-motive. Dev, the arch enemy also monitored their actions, not liking how the mission he termed as a failure was shaping up, the risk was too big to loose. But he had a trump card called Sameera plus it wasn't like Geet was any prettier, she was still the unnoticed; wearing-too-big-clothes-for-her disaster looking girl. The stupid boy obviously failed to recognise the beauty that lay below her skin or the natural glow and spark radiating from her face which Maan was affected by with each passing day.

'O my god, Meera you have two weeks to produce an 8000word thesis. Stupid, idiot, gaddi, khutti' she swore herself for loosing focus once again.

'How's it going' Jamie asked over the phone to a stressed Meera, who was too busy with Assigned Love to notice her lost assignment. Now she had only 14days to produce the best piece of writing she ever has. Maaneet has once again ruined her plan, this foolish mistake seems to be a growing weakness, far too dangerous than alcohol and nicotine put together. No longer an addition but an ailment leading to the destruction of her future career.

'I'm dead Jamie, I'm totally dead' she cried
'Have you started the method yet?'
'Nope'
'Result' he asked hearing her deny once again.
'Fine I'll be over with Becca' he suggested being her loyal and helpful friend

After seeing her friends off, Meera decided she needed a break and what better than Assigned Love, another foolish mistake on her part, of course she left she needed some respite after 6 long hours of work.

'Maan I don't know, you think it'll help' she questioned for 4th time
'yeah, yeah now go in' he encouraged pushing her through the double doors. Maan booked Geet at the best salon in town persuading her that a new look was the last thing she needed to book herself a position at her aimed University. So here she was for a facial and a hair trim, buying Maan's philosophy that looks matter a lot when it comes to selection. A sophisticated look needs shine, smooth skin and contact-lenses apparently. It was now nearly 2months and over the time Geet had become more reliant and open to Maan while Maan forgot all about the proposed bet. Life was perfect with just the two of them.

'Where are you Maan?' Geet left the message on his phone, after the salon date yesterday Maan just disappeared. He wasn't picking her calls, answering her text and worst bit of them all he still hasn't seen her make over. She liked it, Ms. Handa, Pinky, Adi and even the neighbours complimented her but Maan was still nowhere around.

Geet was briskly walking down the corridor while toying with her phone when something caught her attention and upon closer inspection she realised in was Maan and Sameera in a lone corner.

'Geet, wow you look good' Sameera commented wiping her lips before placing Maan's arms around her waist, Sam's discrete way of showing what she was back in Maan's life. While Maan looked at the girl in front with astonishment. Straight hair, topped with a loose top and jeggings. Geet looked completely different, cute no scratch that she looked beautiful, very beautiful.

'umm thanks' she whimpered glancing over at Maan before turning on the heels and running towards the exist. Her hazel's pouring out in agony, the hurt she felt was beyond words, like a sharp knife cut right through her heart but why? Didn't she know it was a crime for a girl like her to fall for a boy like Maan. Like seriously the college sweetheart of all people, what was she thinking? That's right she wasn't thinking before making the foolish mistake. Sam and Maan were like the Selena and Justin of the college, always breaking and making up. Why o why? She was no beauty, heck she didn't even care she was happy in her own world then what had she gone and done. This foolish mistake might just cost her life, a life she catered towards success. Boys were a mere distraction, but Maan managed to steal a part of her heart, the playboy that he was she should have been careful enough not to fall in love.

'What happened to her?' Sam commented playing with his jacket zipper making Maan feel guilty and a little pained, he was meant to be by her side but he was too busy playing make up with his Sam who apologised and like always they were back to being a COUPLE.

'Geet I'm sorry, please call me back' he left the 50th message feeling miserable, Geet wasn't talking and he knew that after the exams due hat week, he had no other reason to mingle with her which was affecting him, big time. It felt like something was going away, something very precious and dear. His outing with Sam and his friends seemed boring compared to his tutorials with Geet, the basketball games lost its charm, but the thought of Geet and his fingers lingering over the piano was far more exciting. Everything in his life went back to normal yet he wasn't satisfied. Geet and her inclusion had become an integral part of him.

'Well of course you would gadda, you love her, you dimwit' Meera shouted feeling frustrated at the stupid male, the so-called hero for breaking her females heart. Being a true girl, she lived each emotion through the girl's eye. So it was natural for her to wish Maan to suffer for the heart-ache he caused Geet, all for a witch in the west, Sam. Huh, Geet is far prettier, wittier and cleverer than Sam, Meera thought aloud without even knowing what the other women looks like although an image of a skinny, tall and bonny looking girl entered her brain but no girl was better than her Geet for Maan, she was sure of that.

'Why are you ignoring me?' he questioned pulling her to the secluded corner of the corridor, the exams were over but Geet was still avoiding him. Whenever he called her, she ignored but emailed him notes and revision technics to help him.
'Maan leave me' she shouted, over the week she decided that it was best to go back to their own worlds. It was less complicated that way, and less painful. Seeing Sam with Maan tore Geet's fractured heart, seeing them hugging, kissing and laughing made her resolution stronger. In another 3 months, college would be over and then she was off to another town, where Maan and his thoughts had no place. So for now she focused on her music, the only escape from all her troubles.
'What's your problem?' he shouted in her face holding her firm
'Let go Maan, leave me' she seethed slapping the hands that held her by the waist tightly

'I've split with Sam last week, Geet' seeing her frozen reaction he continued telling her how he felt without her, how his life seemed aimless, how much he missed her and their banter

'OMG's no ways' Meera was shocked by the turn of events. Maan split with Sam, and that too for Geet.

'Oh yeah, now this is something interesting' she giggled feeling excited.

'So what? If you've split with Sam then what should I do? Is that why you're back to me, huh, or is it that you've taken sympathy on me again. No no I know its cause I've changed my appearance. I'm now a Geet that fits your circle of girls, polished and poised' she said one after another, all the taunts threw at her from Sam coming to the bay. Geet was the centre of attention of many crude comments from girl's and boy's, many of whom obviously asked her out, each of which she rejected so they taunted her instead of being a boyfriend stealing, sympathy gaining leech.

'It's not like that Geet, you're my friend' he spoke in determination

I like you, I don't know why I went back to Sam. I always liked you, since that lunch where you ignored me. You're the first to ever reject my company and since then you've ruled my life. I'm sorry Geet, I was an idiot, can we not go back to normal, just us' he asked earnestly beseeching her warmth while she relented his attempts. Maan wasn't subjected to what she faced so Maan had no idea what it felt like being attacked by class fellows or being rejected in love.

'There was never an US, Maan. It's always been you and me, college sweetheart vs the college geek. A failure from the start, it's better to end it here' she advised before running towards the exit. The last few months were out the norm for her but now that reality came back, everything seemed so messed up. She didn't want to be the centre of attention, she didn't want love or Maan, she simply wanted to finish college and leave this town as soon as possible.

'Ahhh I feel bad for Geet, Maan needs to seriously realise where his priorities are' Meera immediately thought but then a part of her conscious also sided with Maan. Why do love stories need to be so complicated? Why can't a boy and a girl, fall in love and TADA le finir (finish). But no family, class, social status always comes into play.

'Meera foods ready' her mother shouted, OMG is it 4pm already. OMBG she's got 5 days to complete a poster, a thesis, a presentation and a plan. She was screwed big time. Make that a bit fat red screw, right in the centre of her head. All for the love of MAANEET. AHHH she cried feeling agony caused by the tension.

Note: I though i'd let you know that both Maan and Geet are 18- last year in college.

Her Foolish mistake - Part 4

He walked in to the auditorium feeling miserable, life seemed like a grey canvas. Everything beautiful seemed to have vanished with Geet, funnily enough this was the same life he lived before she walked into his life. The melodious tune in the background brought him out of his sulking mission, and there she played in all glory. The musical composition of 'Someone like you by Adele' touched his heart, her way of saying she'll find someone like him. But he wanted no such thing, she was made for him and only him. With his mind made he walked backstage waiting to ask her whether she'll do the honours of accompanying him to the Prom.

'Will you be my date?' Dev requested in enthusiasm, the dream of becoming prom king seemed like a probable reality with in-side talks of Geet being the new entrant to the prom legacy. Each year the student union add a name to the list of elites and this year Geet seemed like a favourable choice.

'If you're thinking about Maan then his already taken by Sameera' he added only to smirk seeing his plan come into action

'I'll pick you up at 7 on Friday then' he added while she took off to see to her friends, Adi and Pinky.

Dressed elegantly in one of her mother's designs, she looked nothing less than a miracle. Her straight hair flowed over her shoulder, the lace-style skater dress accompanied by tights made her look picture perfect, Maan for a while forgot to breath. However she just walked past him, as if he never existed, somewhere deep it hurt him but the next minute he pulled himself up with the thought of prom.

'Will you be my date for the prom' he asked crossing his fingers, Geet looked at him as if his grown horns while Adi and Pinky looked away in anger.

'Sorry I'm going with Dev' she answered solemnly looking to the floor, trying hard to avoid crying. Seems like tears have been her company in the past few days. Forgetting Maan for her has been hard, and especially when he looked all lost.

'Oh ok' he sounded so dejected, a part of her wanted to accept but then she remembered this was Maan, the same guy who broke her heart unknowingly yet he did.

'Stupid Geet, why' Meera moaned not liking where the story is heading. The rom-com fanatic in her should be aware of the happenings yet she acted as if this was the first. A sad discoraged looking Maan broke her heart overlooking the fact that she had an hefty amount of work to get done.

'AM I A FLIPPIN BET MAAN' Geet raged, every single moment over the past few months was a joke. A stupid bet which Dev and Maan organised. She was insane to fall for this. Geet was never meant to be a part of this crowd, her involvement was purely for the purpose of a bloody bet.

'I'm sorry' he whispered seeing fat tears roll off her face

'It was his idea Geet I swear I was always against it' Dev weaselled out wanting to save his backside, still not wanting to lose the opportunity to be the prom king. Maan sadly watched Geet run away with Dev running behind her.

'Now you have no choice, I told you if you reject me it'll be bad for your image' Sameera sneered, it was her plan to tell Geet the truth. That Geet was some project the boy's betted over for some entertainment.

'Now be a good boy and pick me up at 7 sharp' she lightly kissed is cheeks and strutted down the hallway leaving a broken Maan

'Meers that's it you have to complete it man, we have only two days' Becca stressed a failing Meera

'What am I going to do?' she cried, she stayed up all night trying to complete her work however in between a certain craving invades her system, killing her aspiration to work further and overrides her intelligence by dwelling deeper into 'Assigned Love'.

'I think if I pull an all-nighter I can finish it off by Monday' Meera tried persuading herself, if anything Meera was a determined soul once decided nothing could waver her mental ability. Hence the next two days she worked her socks off, presentation done; poster done; thesis nearly completed. Rather than sleeping in bed, she was up drinking 10 cans of coke to stay awake in order to complete her assignment on the 'The role of e-cadherin cell signalling in Cancinoma'. If all goes to plan then she would continue her research on Cancer, she prayed and hoped it would.

'Finally' she danced submitting the last piece of work, she worked long and hard. Ok maybe not long and she kind of brought it upon herself, but who cares. Now with all her work done, all she needed to do now was wait. Ahhh she hated the waiting game, looking through her phone she thought it would be better to finish off her story with the hope that this STORY would be the last.

'I can't believe it Geet, we're here together' Dev flirted, shockingly to him Geet did clean up good and the filth in him wanted to take advantage of her pure soul.

'I always fancied you' he blatantly lied making her uncomfortable

'Geet oh my you look gorgeous' Pinky boasted pulling her away from the leech Dev and that's when Maan finally saw her. She was dressed in a peach chiffon line prom dress looking exquisite in another of her mother's collection. Beauty would fall short in front of her.

Unexpectedly Maan came with his sister Anni, not wanting the company of Sam who got a ride from her father instead, OUCH that's a prick to her inflated ego

'Hi Geet' he welcomed seeing her walk his way, the Geet that stood in front looked nothing like the Geet he saw at the lunch table

'Hello' she shied fully aware of his gaze, weirdly enough this boasted her confidence while Dev's heightened her anger.

'I'm sorry' he repeated while she smiled genuinely, Pinky made her understand a thing or two and now when she thought of it Maan did seem apologetic. Her life was perfect, Geet got into her wanted University, her mother was very understanding and now all she needed was Maan by her side.

'I don't see a Sam around you' she joked, truth be told she was over the moon with this fact. Maan wore a black tux, looking his royal best.

'Now you never will, care for a dance' to which she agreed.

"Ain't Nobody" - Jasmine Thompson ft Felic Jaehn
(originally by Rufus & Chaka Khan)

Captured effortlessly
That's the way it was
Happened so naturally
I did not know it was love
The next thing I felt was
You holding me close
What was I gonna do?
I let myself go

And now we're flyin' through the stars
I hope this night will last forever

'I never planned for this all, it just happened. I'm sorry' he spoke while dancing. Everybody seemed to be having a good time, the music helped them to emote. Adi and Pinky were also jumping around dancing to the dance beat.

'Hmm' came the reply but the look in her eyes told him his forgiven

'Dev's a pig. You know that' she laughed seeing the jealous side of him

'I know' she giggled twirling around

'Then why come with him?' he questioned but before she could answer the partners where changed making him groan

Oh oh oh oh
Ain't nobody
Loves me better
Makes me happy
Makes me feel this way
Ain't nobody
Loves me better than you

I've been waitin' for you
It's been so long
I knew just what I would do
When I heard your song
You filled my heart with a kiss
You gave me freedom
You knew I could not resist
I needed someone

And now we're flyin' through the stars
I hope this night will last forever

The music was causing a mayhem, everybody and anybody were on the floor dancing their heart's out. Jumping, hopping, even MC Hammer's were on display. A moody Dev tried all night to get to Geet who cared less, giving him zilch time and no attention. So in the end he turned to Sam, well she jumped onto him like a hungry dog on a Sunday roast, hoping still to win the Prom queen title.

Oh oh oh oh
Ain't nobody
Loves me better
Makes me happy
Makes me feel this way
Ain't nobody
Loves me better than you

[x2:]
I make my wish upon a star
And hope this night will last forever

'So' Maan questioned when Geet joined him again, the boys and the girls were dancing in a circle changing partners every so often

'So what' she teased wanting to add to his misery, which she was allowed after all the pain she endured because of him

'Why did you come him to the prom' he shouted loud enough for her to hear

'Because' she laughed seeing his angry eyes

'I wanted to see your face' she lightly touched his cheeks before running off feeling too shy with her bold move

Oh oh oh oh
Ain't nobody
Loves me better
Makes me happy
Makes me feel this way
Ain't nobody
Loves me better than you

At first you put your arms around me
Then you put your charms around me
We stare into each other's eyes
And what we see is no surprise
Got a feeling most with treasure

And a love so deep we cannot measure.

'The prom king is ... as usual Mr Maan Khuranna' came the loud announcement breaking their moment. Maan was then pulled to the podium by a few of his friends while Geet shied away feeling his intense gaze on her lips, did they just kiss in a dark corner. Oh my! This was one for the annual books

'Wow now this is something exciting' the Principle announced feeling the jitters

'This year's winner is new and the smartest in our school, yep you've got it right its Miss Geet Handa' he shouted freezing her momentarily but Sam's screech brought her back to earth. Then a surge of people pushed her to where Maan was standing. This was one year neither Geet nor Maan would forget. The college sweetheart and the college geek were made the prom king and queen by the students.

'DANCE DANCE DANCE' the crowd echoed after they made their speech.

'Will you be my girlfriend' he asked on his knees before the ritual dance while all the girls awwed and the boys, well boys would be boys

'Yes' came the shy reply, Maan enveloped Geet in his arms and danced the night away. Very much knowing this would be a night they would remember for the rest of their lives. Geet was like any other girl, her fairy-tale ending happening made her the happiest girl on earth and dating the college heart-throb who also was her love made her day.

[x2:]
Ain't nobody
Loves me better
Makes me happy
Makes me feel this way
Ain't nobody
Loves me better than you

Meera sang while dancing with her sisters, it was a Friday night. Soon 'She's all that' would be playing on her 52inch TV making her all the more happy, it was after all one of her all-time favourite movie. If anything 'Assigned Love' was an adaptation of that, hence falling for the story hard. She loved every bit of it, still unsure of her grades, Meera decided to leave the inevitable to destiny. Why worry when you can't do nothing, was her father's motto. Yes work towards fixing your mistakes was another, which she hoped to work on with her growing age. One day she'll grow into a fine young woman but for now she was still her daddy's girl and her mother's angel. Meera promised herself never to let her love life invade her work life ever again.

'However a last minute check can't hurt' Meera thought surfing through her GEET FORUM on her phone 'Opposite Love' she smiled finding another pass time. Oh boy will she ever learn, making the same mistake, her foolish mistake again.

Note: I thought to give Meera importance since I loved her character but unfortunately I never included her in none of my storied, yep I mentioned her in Into the Dark but couldn't do justice to her character. Hence she got her due part here, well I hope she did.

This would essentially be my last story on GF dedicated to Kwaishfan. Sorry I can't write Dadi's Bride for you, hope this makes up for it though

I will upload this and finish the rest of my stories before New Year, that is if my cousins don't raid my laptop or else it'll be soon after that 😃

her foolish mistake...I know, it is so addictive..the creativity and liveliness around is fascinating.. :)

so a bet between two rivals Maan and Dev...and a geeky Geet..I like it already with these interesting characters...excited to read the future of this bet..if Maan makes her fall for him with his charm or he himself falls for her..
