CHAPTER 57
ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS(if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any royal titles, architectural terms,IT terms & programs, office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE. PLEASE DON'T BASH ME !!!!!
There were lot of disturbing thoughts going on in Maan's mind and he could not sleep. He thought of going for a stroll. The whole palace was fairly dark but there was bright light coming from the East Wing of the Palace. Out of curiosity Maan started approaching the East Wing. He was stopped at the entrance by big and huge lady gaurds. He tried to enter past them two times but each time he was stopped. He finally lost his temper saying, "Aap jaanti hain aap kisse rok rahin hain? Hum hain Yuvraj Maan Singh Khurana!" (Do you know whom you are stopping? I'm the Crowned Prince Maan Singh Khurana!)
Hearing his name the gaurds bowed respectfully and said with folded hands, "Shama kijiye Yuvraj! Yeh 'RANI MAHAL' hai yahaan purushon ka aana varjit(forbidden) hai." (Please forgive us Crowned Prince! This is Palace of Queens. Men are forbidden from entering here!)
While this debate was going on, Armaan passed by and he thundered "Der raatri ko yeh kya shor ho raha hai?" (What is this commotion happening in middle of the night?)
"Maharaj(although there was still a week for crowning of Armaan but all employees and people of kingdom had started addressing him 'Maharaj')! Yuvraj 'RANI MAHAL' mein pravesh karna chahte hain!" (Maharaj! Crowned Prince wants to enter 'Palace of Queens!')
"Aap bhul kar raheen hai ki yeh Rajgarh ke Jawai-sa hai!" (You are forgetting he is son-in-law of Kingdom of Rajgarh)
"Kintu Rajkumari-sa ka vivaah to Rajkumar Devraj se tae(fix) hua hai!" (But Princess' marriage has been fixed with Prince Devraj!)
Stunning Armaan and Maan for a minute. Armaan roared,"Abb yeh aap hummei batayengi ki humari bahen ka kiss se vivaah ho raha hai?" (Now you will tell me who my sister is going to marry?) "Hum aadesh de rahe hain hi aap Yuvraj ko Rani Mahal mei parvesh karne dijiye!" (I'm ordering you to let him enter the palace!)
Lady gaurds bowed respectfully till the ground and said with folded hands,"Shama kijiye Maharaj! Iss Mahal mei kewal, Rajmata, Maharani, Rajkumari athva kissi bhi rajsi stree ka aadesh sweekariye hai!" (Please forgive us Maharaj! In this palace only Queen Mother, Queen, Princess or any lady of royal stature can only order!)
Now Armaan was fuming at the gaurd's insolence and was ready to punch the gaurds, but this time Maan very respectfully and royally like a Prince walked away with Armaan.
"How dare they forbid me from entering Rani Mahal, except Gudiya there is no woman of consequence there. I think Gudiya wanted privacy hence she came here tonight!"
As the two men were walking away they heard a beautiful but a painful voice full of melanchony singing -----
"Naina barse rim jhim,rim jhim;
Piya toh se milane ki pyaas...!"
Armaan and Maan stopped and listened, both understood that Geetanjali is very unhappy and her heart is breaking with thought of re-marriage. Maan now is understanding her feelings more as he himself is undergoing the similar pain. He knows he has to quickly make his Mishty happy again. Soon the song stopped and both the men with heavy heart left for their respective rooms.
Next morning, Maan woke up early or one should say he didn't sleep at all as he was disturbed whole night by echoing of his Mishty's soulful voice. He was looking around to ask Geetanjali's whereabouts but as it was too early in the morning there were no servants around. He was wandering here and there when he saw an elegant elderly lady dressed in off-white royal silks but with very little jewellery walking by ask, "Aap kuch dundh rahe hain Jawai-sa?" (Are you looking for something?)
"Aap mujhe jaanteen hain?" (You know me?)
"Aap ko kaun naheen jaanta Rajgarh mei?" Although the lady had a polite smile on her face but Maan knew both the smile and phrase was edged with sarcasm. (Who doesn't know you in Kingdom of Rajgarh?)
Maan took the statement on face value and with politely folding his hands said, "Kya aap mujhe bata sakti hain ki meri patni Geetanjali kahaan hai?" It felt so nice referring to 'his Mishty' as "meri patni" with right after 5 years! "Mai aap ko kya keh ke sambodidh(address) karun?"(Can you please tell me where is my wife? What should I address you as?)
"Aap hummei "Hira Dai" bula sakte hain! Hum Rajkumari Geetanjali aur Rajkunwar Yashvardhan ki "Dai-sa" hain! Rajkumari-sa, iss samay istebal mei hongi yeh unka 'gursawari'(horse-riding) ka samay hai. Rajkumari Geetanjali samay ki atyadhik pabandh hain(very punctual)" Hira-Dai guided him to in the direction on stables.(I'm "Hira Dai", I'm godmother of Princess Geetanjali and Prince Yashvardhan. Princess at this time will be in stables, this is her time for horse-riding. She is extremely punctual of time!)
Dai-sa was from a very rich & well to do family. Thakurain Hira Devi was wife of extremely wealthy and young businessman,Thakur Manohar Shyam. Maharani Parvati belonged to business community and during her maiden days with her father met Thakurain Hira Devi a lot in business gatherings. Hence Parvati and Hira Devi became very close friends being similar in age. Parvati got married and moved to Rajgarh Palace and both lost touch. Then one day Maharaj Rudra told Maharani Parvati about sad demise of Thakur Manohar Shyam. Parvati was pregnant at that time, hence had to wait for Rudra to be free for her to meet Hira Devi. Rudra and Parvati just reached in time to prevent Hira Devi from being molested by some lusty money lenders as she was beautiful and all alone in this world. Parvati immediately took Hira Devi in her care. But Hira Devi did not want to be labelled as a loose woman, so Parvati said that she will be a godmother to her unborn child. During child-birth there were complications in her delivery and she gave a still-birth. Rudra with Sumitra's help switched the babies without anyone being aware, neither Parvati nor Hira Devi knew about the swapping which took place! After twins arrival, Parvati had become very weak after her delivery. Hence, in the initial days after twins arrival their maximum work was done by Hira Devi so the servants and employees of Palace started calling her as "Dai-sa" although Parvati & Rudra always considered Hira Devi as a sister!
