CHAPTER 6
Soon she landed in Mumbai and walked out of the arrival hall when she found someone standing with a placard "Mrs. Maan Singh Khurana" and her eyes rolled but she preferred he acknowledged her first and their relationship. She did not have even the tiniest of hints that it was he who had arranged all of this. She soon entered a penthouse that was decorated in black and white with hint of colors and there. She had to spend this evening alone but soon she sent Sameera a message. Before she could plan her evening her phone beeped once again. The name startled the wits out of her and her eyes widened in surprise
"Hope you have reached safely. Take care and keep me updated" the message read.
She replied back messaging "Hmmm" and quickly sent him another message saying "Take care you too" and a quick smile appeared on her face. She threw her phone on the bed and quickly looked around the master bedroom and her eyes caught a huge portrait of his which was more like a candid shot. Her heart galloped like a horse and she ran her hands over his face and her fingers lingered over his eyes. Those eyes were full of life and she even wondered when was it taken? But her eyes chose to not leave the phone and she tried feeling the warmth in those eyes as much as she could. She got out of her trance when she heard someone knock at the door. It was then she realized how long she stood staring at him. She sighed at the royal dinner that was arranged before her or even better she was informed about the cook who is ready to prepare if she wanted anything else. Luxury was something she was used to but then that came from people and this kind of luxury was something new that she was experiencing. With her thoughts brooding about Sameera she quickly nibbled a paratha and finished her dinner. She was back in her room in bed staring at him and soon sleep evaded her after mentally exhaustive day.
In Delhi, the emptiness in his room killed him. They never shared anything according to him but not feeling her body in his bed drove his sleep far far away. He started working like a maniac but nothing seemed to work. He even tried going through some conference papers but everything looked so gloomy and complicated for him all of a sudden. He felt angry at himself for getting affected so much. Definitely pouring his heart out to her would have lessened his burdens but suddenly a new fear engulfed him. He wanted her to become his strength but here she was becoming his weakness. Without having much to do he rolled over to her side of the bed and slept inhaling her fragrance off the pillow she used.
He was earlier than usual and quickly changed in to his sweat pants and wore his shoes and stepped out of the house for a run trying to sooth his wavering heart and mind. He ran as fast as he could trying to wear himself out even before the day could begin. As he would want by the time he reached home he was definitely exhausted and was kind of dragging his body to get ready for another grinding day at work. It was work that overtook everything and he failed to even enquire about her. Here in Mumbai after a peaceful sleep in days, she opened her eyes and browsed through her phone immediately for his message but she was left disappointed him.
"Geet, he messaged you because you traveled alone. Otherwise your husband has no time for you. You are still the same" and she slapped her forehead.
She dressed herself in a salwar waiting for Sameera who had informed her to visit her during lunch. She was waiting for her nervously. It was past 2 and there was no sign of her. She started pacing the house up and down when soon one of the securities was waiting meet to her outside the house. Sameera soon drove her car inside and stepped outside the penthouse and murmured "The khuranas". She entered and saw the petite woman dressed in a pink suit waiting for her. Both shared initial greetings and soon after which awkwardness creeped in.
"Geet khurana, I really have no time like you people. Nothing will affect you guys even if you stop working for years but we clearly don't fall in that category so can we make this short and crisp" spoke Sameera with sarcasm written all over.
Geet sighed and wondered if this razor tongue was something which made him love her and she continued glaring at her. Sameera stood up saying she would leave soon after which Geet got back to reality and asked her not to rush.
"Uhhhmmm it's pretty awkward but I really need to know about the relationship with Maan. I mean he hasn't moved on but he is trying hard you know" said Geet feeling awkward
"Whatever that meant but we really never crossed our lines if that was what you worried about. And anyways why would that even bother you kind of people. It is pretty common in your society I thought" spat Sameera.
"Oh I never doubt him. I can clearly say you never shared anything when it came to intimacy and here I am talking about your relationship in general" explained Geet and thought about him forcing himself upon her when he was sloshed.
"Pretty much. Maan was never a Casanova even girls threw themselves upon him but he had class in choosing people. Clearly the class has reduced drastically" spoke Sameera glancing at the woman in front of her from top to bottom.
Geet expected this to be bad but never expected the woman to be venomous with her choice of words. She had to help him was her only thought and she rubbished all her comments "That's not what I asked. In general about how your relationship ended" retorted Geet.
"Uff.. To the point I see. If that's the case then well, my parents knew about my relationship with him and they wanted me to quit everything but I was unfortunately madly in love with him. My parents were worried about his background and wanted him to walk out of his family right there and get married to me. But he wanted to settle down and asked for time. My father had a point. You see high society people never keep up to their words" and before she could complete both heard a masculine voice clamoring the hall.
"Clearly and middle class people never trust people anyone. Do they?" roared Maan and smiled at Geet. Surprising her further, he took her in a tight side hug and took a look at his ex.
"Hey Sam" and he felt his wife wriggling out of his hold. He quickly winked at her and continued "Oops Sameera.!! My wife hates me addressing your name like I used to and after all I listen to Mrs. MSK, the one who rules me" and placed a quick peck on geet's cheek surprising her.
"Geet, I had clearly stated I would never meet you with him between us but you had to prove your mentality" spoke an angry Sameera.
"Well then She had no clue I was going to meet her and as far as society is concerned she knows to carry herself pretty well. I hope you have told Geet how your family hurted my father with words when he approached you again seeking to take our relationship further. If you haven't then be my guest and explain all about that conversation in detail" spoke a sarcastic Maan.
"You fooled me Geet. I was anyways going to tell you everything and now that the truth is open I might as well get back to my work" said Sameera and gulped the glass of water before her and stood up to leave.
"Ms. Sameera it's no more Geet for outsiders. It better be Mrs. MSk" said Maan and walked her to the door.
She settled in to the car and banged her steering for once again losing to him. It was all a mistake and she had plans to talk to him again if he was not married but then Geet's call blew her up. She wanted to sweet talk Geet and get some financial assistance or better land a job with the Khuranas and teach them all a lesson for making her wait. She lost her mother to her dad's ego and now her dad was fighting for life and her love was already in troubled waters. Without having much to do she zoomed her car getting back to her work thinking how she would salvage them all.
Inside the pent house, they were in their room and she was still trying to get in terms with the fact that he was here in Mumbai. How the hell did he know all about this when she had everything planned? To top it all he kissed her like nothing happened and refused to leave her out of his hold. She had to confront of him and started pacing her room up and down while he was in the washroom freshening up after his travel and encounter with Sameera.
To be continued...
