If Shika had made this story and letters of a new generation, you completely changed who Sameer is. A fully fleshed out character with a background of nawabs. Someone from Jodha Khan fabrics😃

A new generation versus the old uncle😆 aunt😆 Somehow Geet can never be an old aunt in my head, too chulbuli and naughty for that.

What a loving family Naina is getting into. What a sweet letter. The family of Seedha saadha tambu appealing to the Teekhi but Mishri Kudi😃

I love Sameer for enjoying his courtship days to the fullest, not sharing his chunnu with anyone. Love is like that possessive and to a degree selfish.

The insecurities haven't changed over the generations I am sure. It is universal and timeless. Just like traveling the world over does not guarantee to give you any "Gyan". Traveling opens us to the fact that people are the same the world over. There is beauty in the mountains be they the Alps or the Himalayas or Lonavala or Nainital. The purity of rivers be it the Ganges or the Nile or the Thames, is in the knowledge that we should not stand still and develop moss. We should move with the flow and ebb of time. In the hustle and bustle of travel, we see our shadow in our fellow humans. That perhaps is the greatest reason to travel. Ha ha, my once upon a dream of becoming a travel agent is superimposed here, don't mind😆

Loved the shayr. Very apt.

My favorite lines... When the choice of freedom is not given by others, life gives it you in more beautiful ways than you ever know.

freedom is not just the choice to live your way, but it comes in the life you make despite the compromises that have been made.

Loved the ever young Saas and Buddi Badi Nand!

I love Meer nawab😃
Descendant of Jodha. What a concept. I am ahamazed😉
That was awesome take on his name. I had this pic of a grandiose Haveli and a restless Meer that was marching up and down the corridors
Secondly, loved the fact that this letter was penned by the MIL SIL duo. I say that right there is half battle won for Meer, as far as Chutki is concerned.😉

You saw a bare side of her, which she then clothed in love of her husband
👏👏

Superbly put Mishti.

You even brought in the case of the Hoshiarpur girl that started this craze for all of us😆

Bandishein-e- zindagi bhi achi hoti hain kabhii;

Kantoun main hi Gul-e- mohabbat khil tey hai sahii

👏👏

Bohot khoob mohtarma, bohot khoob.

The beautiful rhythm of these words says it all.😃

We all have this notion of freedom in our mind. But every freedom comes with it's set of responsibilites. Responsibilty towards oneself. If there is no responsibility then that is not freedom, that is just being irresponsible.

We sometimes choose impulse and call it free will.

There never is a clear cut path, as to what is right and what is wrong. We just have to make a choice and give it our best shot.

That is what I think Geet ultimately chose😊

However, I like to think that, if her life partner had not been the way he had, if he had in fact suffocated the freedom out of her; I hope Geet would not have been chained down by dogmas set in front of her by society or even her parents and walked out and made a new world for herself.

Absolutely loved everything about this letter Mishti.

I feel my words fall extremely short of expressing how wonderful this letter was.😳

Finally a long awaited wish to read something, you wrote got fulfilled.

What a productive lunch hour it turned out for all of us😆

Please keep doing such wonderful lunches Mishti dear😛

Let me tell you though, reading this had only whetted my appetite for more and I am not letting you off the hook any time soon.

I totally demand at least an OS(well to begin with😉)

OMG ! *hyperventilating and turning deep shade of red*

Mishti ji Mohabbat ji has written a letter! 😳

I cannot tell you how much I loved it. I was so lost in it. I went into a dream like trance and refused to come out. I went to sleep and woke up and still the letter stayed with me.

Like they say 'A thing of beauty is a joy forever'. Aren't words more intoxicating than J&D? 😉

Meer's mother has so nicely made up for his lack of maturity and understanding of the situation. For a man, marriage is just being with a girl and enjoying most likely. His life changes too but it is a welcome change and making way for a new member in his household. It is up to him how comfortable he makes the new woman in his life feel.

It is a woman who has the capacity of being a woman's best friend and foe. This is because women know to think from another's point of view. Get a deep understanding of the hesitation and despair behind the so called facade of bravado and wackiness. No matter how educated one is it is a scary prospect to leave the life of 25 odd years, everything one has ever known and go to an environment that is fully alien and blend into it. A girl's parents also provide for their child in much the same way as a boy's. Yet they are the ones who are left behind in the name of marriage to fend for themselves. A girl has to leave her own parents to cry and then adopt a new set. Isn't life just unfair? Education, freedom, generation gaps, careers, nothing has managed to change this aspect for a woman in India. It is freedom to be able to take care of ones who take care of you. It is freedom to be able to love life to the fullest.

It is a woman's heart filled with courage that can achieve this herculean thankless job called daughter-in-law. It is only a woman who can churn the deep ocean of emotions inside her to come up with something as beautiful as love. It is a tiny ray of hope that it doesn't mean having to forget to be a daughter.

Mishti ji Mohabbat ji thanks for introducing me to this beautiful world where everything is romantic and wonderful. I hope you continue traversing in this world to all our joy.

Loads of love!

Itni Tareef!!! Khudaaya in reality I am actually a really small person ..stand tall at just 4"10 but today feels like I am on top of the world..with pixies and fairies looking over me and making me feel like I am really a Jodha (Princess).
Each of you have picked out the notion of freedom from the letter and gave it your own shade of muse and aspirations... loving the travel agent in you Avi, the path setter in Nisha and the newly wed bahu in Sheesh. I am not going to add any more to my muse I think I have written quite enough. But essentially this is what really brings us together..why I feel in the numerous readers and writers here, we connect and gel with all those who have that knack to ask questions, to question the questions as well as the answers given. Every story I have read here on the forum always leaves me with a new question or an answer to a question in my mind...which is why I keep on coming back.

I actually have finally finished reading the Alchemist yesterday. And rather than overwhelmed I felt underwhelmed with its end. I have carried this book with me over the course of these last three years of my travel and all other things life gives... and when I finished it now..rather than a closure I felt the need to open up. Probably because I have been more inspired from the reads on this forum than the book itself..

Thank you all for making this letter feel more special than it is... I am reallly surprised that none of you picked out an obvious flaw in the letter..but I feel its the affection that you hold for moi which didn't let you mention it here... feeling Loved.

Super excited to read the update from Avi, thank you Avi hope your deadline today gives you the well deserved rest after...and waiting every eon for Sheesh to update, but take your time...there is a lot on your plate.
And Nisha Ji... waiting with abated breaths for binding ties ... the maha war is coming on ..and I am waiting with popcorns...
will comment very soon on all yur works and others... been fasting and working these past few days..hence the productive lunch hours ... hehee

Man, I came to write back a few lines..im sure pura page hogaya
Mishti Love back to you all xXx

I agree with Nisha's demand for a story but from what I can tell Mishti and OS? Nahi ho sakta 😆

That would be like Avi trying to write an OS which became an over 100 part FF 😆

I demand a story now.. as long as you can make it Mishtiji

Dear Readers,
What started as something born out of a moment of silence when my bored mind rebelled against studying and wanted to indulge in something that is a favorite past time of mine, this letter has been born. I initially hesitated to post it here, not sure if this is directly related to MG fictions at all, and not really sure how many of you would be wanting to read it, yet... I did post anyway.

I am glad I did.

The replies I keep getting in this thread makes me read at each of them in awe, and grin endlessly. I come here every other day and see the replies given by women from different corners of the world, some a reassurance to the insecurities of a lady, some a sweet come back to a theeki mirchi, some a genuine heart warming talk from an older women... these letters I understand are written by another women like me... I try to tell myself that, but I can't believe in it. These characters... her husband, Meer, Sam, theeki mirchi's Saas and Nanand, everyone are as much real as they can get, and though I couldn't reply to each and every one of you in person (I am sorry to be so screwed up by that thing called lack of time) I want to tell you, I love each of the replies, both the letters and the comments. I feel like leaving the discussion for you guys and be an interested bystander. But, someday I might fiddle with something and reply another letter, and put a closure to this amazing series I am glad to have been a part of writing.

With due thanks for all the love,

Your Shika.
