Part 26
Meera was in her room after dinner.Tomorrow Geet will be going for her lonavla trip. She was not really comfortable about Geet going with Parineeta. But she had promised Sid she would try to have an open mind about Geet and Pari.
Remembering Sid Meera blushed a bit. When she had said yes to Sid she thought Sid would be different, more serious, more matured and less of a prankstar. But nope. Sid is just as he was, as she had known him. And somewhere Meer was loving this old Sid and that was strange because she used to hate Sid's guts.
Suddenly her phone rang and it was Sid calling:
Sid:" Hello"
Meer:" Hey Sid!"
Sid:" You were thinking about me sweety."
Sid's statement earned a blush even when she said with force," Not at all."
Sid:" You are laying Meer. Come on Meer, give me some credit. I have known you for years. You were thinking about me."
Meer:" Sid the world doesn't revolve around you. I know you think so but let me break it to you. You are not the centre of the universe."
Sid:" Oh Meera! Youbroke my heart! Now how will I live knowing I am not the centre of universe?"
Meera could not control anymore and started laughing. Sid said softly," I love hearing you smile Meera. It makes me happy."
Meer:" I thought you would change once I say yes."
Sid:"What you thought suddenly I will turn into your Raj Aryan' of Mohabbatein talking about love and playing violin?"
Meer:" Sid, stop making fun of my choice of movies."
Sid:" Come on Meer, you know all those are big fat lies. I would like to see a university having a teacher who tells the students to go and fall in love and helps them break college rules.."
Meer:" What about kuch kuch hota hai?"
Sid:" Don't even start on that. The man tells in the whole movie how you live once, die once, love once and marry once and in the end it seems he had loved twice and married twice as well. Confused idiot!"
Meer:" Dil toh pagal hai?"
Sid:"Oh don't even ask. If it was so easy to make dance dramas then everybody would have just become director. And don't even start on the half soul stuff!"
Meer:" DDLJ?"
Sid:" Show me one idiot NRI who wants to marry their daughter to a villager instead of a millionare from London? Face it, it's not realistic."
Meer:" Oh really, and Iron Man and Transformers are realistic?"
Sid:" They can be?"
Meer:" Yeah and sun will rise on the west. I am never going to watch movie with you."
Sid:"Come on Meer, It is fun. Okay fine, I will watch sappy impossible love stories with you where the girl and guy wait 22 years for each other."
Meer:" You are sooo sooo ughghgh. BYE"
Meer cut the call but when she thought back it was actually fun bickering with Sid about movies. It was like they had gone back to mussorie and bickering in the mess while Geet and Armaan were trying to make them stop and Yash would smile and say," Grow up you two."
Meera realized slowly that Yash's name did not bring stabbing pain in her heart. It was just a dull ache. Maybe he was right. They both were not meant to be's. Yash had always been too matured for her. They don't compliment each other. She and Yash had to try and be with each other while Sid and her had fallen into an easy comraidre even in few days...
Her phone rang again and she picked up without checking and said," Sid am really very angry this time. None of your sweet words would work."
Geet:" You angry on Sid and expecting his call? And he is supposed to say you sweet words!! I think you need to tell me something."
Meer bit her tongue and cursed herself and said softly," Okk Geet, there's a news I kind of forgot to tell you."
Geet:" I am listening Meer."
Meer:" Oh Sid had last day again proposed me so I kind of gave him a chance."
Geet:" WHAT!!!!!!"
Geet shouted loud and said again," That is freaking awesome. Two of my favorite people are dating. "
Meer:"That was unexpected.I thought you will shout at me for hiding this."
Geet:" I am too happy to be mad. That guy had loved you for so long .He deserved this chance. And I have a feeling everything will turn out really good for you two."
Meer:" He truly is a nice person."
Geet:" Meer, you did it for yourself right? I mean don't be in a relationship just because you feel bad for Sid. It will be wrong to both you and Sid."
Meer:" No Geet, I don't think I am in this relationship just because I feel bad. I am in this because I genuinely like Sid. He is a really good person and even in this few days I feel we connect. I am not that same Meera who used to believe in fairytale romances. I have grown up Geet. But somewhere I feel I will be a bigger idiot if I don't take this chance with Sid."
Geet :" Am so happy for you Meer. You deserve this happiness."
Meer:"So tell me why are you calling me on the eve of your trip? Is something bothering you?"
Geet:" Well yeah, a lot of things actually"
Meer listened quietly as Geet spoke about her dilemmas and confusions and then said soflty:
Meer:" Geet what are you exactly afraid of?"
Geet:" I don't know."
Meer:" Don't worry so much. Take a chance to live Geet. Whatever will come, accept and face head on. We both need to start living Geet. It is high time now. I have taken a step ahead. You take that as well."
Geet:" I have a feeling this trip will change my life forever Meer."
Meer:" The Geet I had known from my childhood was never afraid of facing the unknown. Don't let adversities of life change that about you."
Geet and Meera talked some more before they kept the phone.
Meera had just kept her phone when Sid rang her again. Her anger had subsided after talking with Geet.
Sid:" Hey Meer, sorry baba! I won't tease you anymore."
Meer:" Hmm It's okay."
Sid:" Are you fine Meera?"
Meer:" of course. Why do you think I won't be?"
Sid:" Nah, I just thought it will be much more difficult to melt your anger."
Meer:" Geet called few minutes back."
Sid:" Is everything okay with her?"
Meer:" Yeah. You know she is supposed to go for this Lonavla trip right?"
Sid:" Yes, she told me few days back."
Meer:" She was confused about the trip. She is feeling like her life will be changed forever in the trip. I encouraged her to go for it but now I am not so sure Sid. Did I do the right thing? She is healing beautifully and I don't want anything to jeopardize that process."
Sid sighed. Then he said softly," Healing! She is nowhere near healing Meer. She still lives in her past. She still lives by writing Armaan letters in her diary. Armaan might have passed away almost four years now but she is still virtually living with Armaan."
Meer:" I thought we both agreed that she is improving!"
Sid:" She is. But she needs to move a lot faster now. Meer she needs to start living now. We both have found each other. I know you have Yash in your heart but I am sure I am making place somewhere however small. She needs to break out of the virtual world of Armaan that she lives in and go and meer people, you know date someone.She is too young to live with memories."
Meer:" You are right Sid. I hope she gives her boss a chance. From what I have heard from Geet he is a genuine person and he loves her."
Sid:" I don't know but I hope for her sake. From all the chats I had with her, even I feel her boss is a genuine person. And they connect with each other in some level which I dare say is the type of connection Geet had with Armaan. If anybody has a chance to make Geet fall in love again this man has."
Meer:" But he is so much elder to Geet. Seven years of age difference is kind of ridiculous in today's world."
Sid:" Age is just a number Meer. And I think to handle Geet the person has to be matured. And we guys are mostly immature even if we show otherwise. Maybe it's good they have that age difference. Iit makes it perfect for both to be at same maturity level."
Meer:" I agree. It's really strange but nowadays I and you agree somuch on various topics .We have spent our entire childhood fighting over random topics. If somebody would have said me ten years ago that I will be agreeing with you let alone date you I would have said it's impossible."
Sid:" We all grow up my Meera. You and I have found a middle ground. The name of that middle ground is Geet. I hate to say it but had Armaan been here I am sure we both would be still bickering. Trying to help Geet we both have somehow learned to find middle grounds to avoid fighting."
Meera thought back. In the initial days after Armaan's death it would always be her and Sid fighting but slowly they had learned to co exist. It's sad that Armaan's death was the reason they could be friends when Armaan had always wanted them to be friends.
Meera said softly," Armaan even in his death had helped all of us, just not in the way it was supposed to be. I think soon I will have enough strength to be Yash's friend and not wish for our story to be different. And Sid, you truly are an amazing friend."
Sid:" Armaan had always been the one to tie us together whether he is alive or death. And I mean I know I am awesome."
Meer:" Stop inflating your ego like a balloon. You are not that great either."
Sid:" Its okay Meer, I know you are jealous of my awesomeness."
Meer:" And here comes back the old irritating, frustrating Sid."
Sid:"I need to go. Tomorrow I have a morning shift. "
Meer:" But you were having Night shifts right?"
Sid:" Yeah but for one day I have morning. Some internal exchange of shifts to help another guy."
Meer:" Ohhk, chal byee."
Sid:" I love you Meera."
Meer:"I ...I"
Sid:" Someday when it comes spontaneously from your heart I will love to hear those words. Till then I can wait, Good night. Have sweet dreams of me and my awesomeness."
Sid kept off the phone but Meera could feel the warmth of his words surround her self. Sid is the exact opposite of what she thought will be her life partner. Yet she feels special just talking with him. Sid was right, they all had really grown up.
