Listening to the song is absolutely vital whilst reading the update. It will make it a lot better, I promise.I have purposefully made the characters anonymous because I prefer to do this with my one shots, but you can imagine Maan & Geet as the man & woman if you wish.

The first time she had seen him had been through the raindrops of her window on a Monday morning. She watched as he had rushed hurriedly to his black sedan, covering himself with a jacket before climbing in and speeding away.
The teaspoon in her coffee had been stirred a little longer than usual.
She often caught glances of him. A mild summer's evening on a peaceful Friday night had drawn her outside to her balcony. She sat on a chair, her legs rested up against the wall, the heat tickling her toes. Lowering her book, she saw him taking a row of t-shirts off his washing line on the front lawn of his house. He wore black jeans accompanied with a black shirt. Charm and mystery radiated from him, as did loneliness. A sudden sadness swept her upon the sight, the feeling too familiar for her liking.
In another instance, he had been pacing the driveway outside of his house during a busy midweek. She had been inside her bedroom, drying her hair with a towel whilst humming a ghazal under her breath. Upon seeing his shadow cross the concrete repeatedly, she was drawn like a moth to a flame and crept outside towards the edge of her balcony.
She peered over, surprisingly restless to see him. He snapped his dark eyes towards her and she gasped, dropping the towel and rushing inside. Hiding beside the window, her back was plastered to the wall as she clasped her hands to her chest for fear of her heart bursting out.
For several weeks after she had studiously avoided him, keeping the curtains of her windows shut and ensuring she kept well away from her balcony, the place from where she had seen him the most. A strange lull began settling inside her head but she ignored the sensation, promising herself she would stay away from the handsome stranger; for her sake more than anyone else.
It was during twilight one evening that the humidity of the summer and the rain clouds had merged to create a volatile thunderstorm. Whilst the rest of the city sought shelter inside the comfort of their homes, she had climbed to the rooftop and revelled in the harsh, unforgiving rains that were accompanied by frequent rumbles of thunder.
Arms outstretched, head tilted back and hairs flying astray, she spun around carelessly in the rain, her navy skater dress sticking to her frame like a second skin. She felt as light as a feather and finally free of her inner demons, her everlasting fears, her neverending loneliness.
Her hands cupped together to gather the cool water drops, then splashed onto her face. Upon the sensation, she let out a satisfied smile.
Finally, she stopped and turned back, opening her eyes slowly. They widened when she saw him stood there, clad in black as usual, with a small smile dancing across his face.
He took a step towards her and she followed suit, their eyes blinking furiously to mentally capture each other in the serene moment.
In the midst of the pouring rains, two souls discovered a life anew.
