I think it should not be a reason for not commenting on your work because you are not reading their work or commenting there

First example is -me

See you never read my work but I m reading yours

So theray be some other reasons too

I believe if the reader is truly attached to a story he/she will definitely will have a curiosity to know the progress in story so i would say don't be disheartened with the response level
