The sun was starting to come up when I feel something different. I turn to my side and find myself alone on the terrace. When did Geet slip by me, I wonder? Dressing up in my shirt I make my way to the outhouse to find Dev still sleeping soundly. Daadima must be tired also because she hasn't arisen yet.

It's been a while since we all have had breakfast and talked about the engagement and she has yet to meet my gaze with hers. I am confused by her behavior. I have eaten more than my share and drunk so much adrak wali chai in the hopes that she will be the one to serve me. Instead it is Tara or Megha who bring me stuff while she stays in the kitchen.
This has gone on far enough I decide as I head to the kitchen. Megha is in there helping her and again she volunteers to help me. Geet doesn't lift her head from her work and instead I find her hidden behind a curtain of her hair. I can't help but feel hurt by her hiding now. It forces me to question myself. Did I overstep my bounds last night? I am not able to understand anything at this moment.
"I am going to the site. Aate der ho jaayegi", I address the words to Megha but I can see Geet chewing her lower lip. I turn towards the door striding out in my impatience and hurt.
Maan is hurt..
