Didn't know about this song until I was introduced to it in a different thread here in IF. It doesn't catch on until you hear it a few times and after that it becomes hauntigly addictive. Didn't feel the actual video would help so found a video with just the song. this is by GV Prakash, protegee and nephew of Rehman

I think you would have heard the hindi version of this song. Its from the movie, Hey Ram. I felt the video couldnt keep up with the song so posted just the song. It's by Raja (Ilayaraja) sir and sung by Asha Bhosle and Hariharan. As you listen, momentum picks up slowly and brings you to a point where it sets your body ablaze!

Very few songs have amazing music and lyrics. Malare Mounama was one of them and this one is the next. English translation of the lyrics found online do no justice to the original tamil lyrics but you could google it if you are curious about the meaning.

Hey Madhu, beautiful songs.!!

I did google the translations, but as you said something is always lost in translation.

The lyrical quality, the angst, the feel, just about everything gets lost. Damn!! I need to learn Tamil now to understand these beautiful songs.

But the problem is learning a language doesn't always guarantee you'll understand the song.

So many beautiful songs are there in Marathi. I get the overall gist of the songs, but there are so many words that just go right over my head.😛
