Part 50 B
KHURANA MANSION
[Geet's POV]
Maan was all the while with me so I didn't get a chance to speak to anybody at home regarding the preparations here, though I had messaged Annie about our arrival. I just hope everything is set! I tried to act normal but I was really nervous and was hoping that I get a chance to slip in the mansion before Maan. And like Babaji heard my prayer and Maan's phone buzzed right on time and he gestured me to go in as he walked out towards the lawn answering the call.
Aadi who had just arrived, too joined Maan winking at me, he assured me that he will distract Maan thereby giving us sometime to execute our plan. I quickly dashed in to join everybody who were all ready to surprise Maan!
We were all set waiting for the birthday boy to enter the mansion, Aadi too made it in time citing some excuse and joined us. Few minutes later we saw Maan entering the mansion all puzzled witnessing the whole mansion plunged in darkness and only candles gleaming around faintly lighting the hall. The moment he stepped in Vicky let go of the harness and Maan was welcomed with rose petals showered on him accompanied with us all wishing him 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' together!
He stood rooted at the entrance as the mansion suddenly illumined with lights and all of us standing together welcoming him. His face sans any emotion and we all waited with baited breath for his reaction but non came! Maan passed a steely gaze around now making us all nervous and suddenly smiled relieving us of our tension.
He walked up to all the elders seeking their blessings and all the family members hugging him and wishing him heartily. I stood admiring the series of expressions adorning his face, overwhelmed with these moments which he had missed all these years.
I couldn't help remembering last night when he had emotionally confessed how happy he was with my idea of surprising him it had been years he had celebrated his birthday.
Dadimaa and Sharda Devi (Pari's nani) were the only elders in the family to wish him and most of the times Vicky and Annie would join him along with his friends for quiet dinner. He would spent most of his day at 'Apna Ghar' as he would be at peace there doing away with all his painful memories of the past.
Unknowingly tears of joy brimmed in my eyes picturing these family moments together after so many years. Apprehensive of Maan's reaction we had just planned a small party with close family and friends. My family (Handa's), Yash, Arjun, Aadi and Meera's family gracing the occasion. My reverie broke as Maan walked up to me raising his brow like questioning me the reason for my moist eyes. I smiled at him nodding a no and telling him to go to our room and freshen up which he readily obliged but not before pecking my forehead thanking me for everything.
[Maan's POV]
Today is one of the most wonderful day of my life! Geet has changed my life for good, she has brought back my life, my family, my happiness. What else can I ask from God he has given me the best! My Geet!
I entered our room which again was dimly lit with a small bedside light. I walked up to the bed to see my gift placed there. It was a high neck black suit from the newest collection of my favorite designer. I was planning to buy it myself but Geet beat me to it. I smiled as my thoughts drifted to Geet who was looking gorgeous, dressed in an orange saree which I had bought for her few days ago when we were out shopping but she always refused to wear it citing one or another excuse but I guess she had planned it out so well exactly knowing how I would love it.
She looked so ethereal!!! A different but a distinct glow evident on her face, just like a heavenly goddess!
I slowly grazed my fingers on over the material awed by My Meeshti how well she understood my likes, preferences, tastes in such a short period of time, a small note lying beside the suit drew my attention.
'Maan aap ke liye yeh gift aap ki Meeshti ki taraf se'
'I LOVE U MAAN!'
Not wasting a single moment I rushed to the washroom to freshen up.
I was just about to walk out of our room when something caught my attention I halted and turned around to notice that the bedside lamp had been switched off and now tiny spot lights over a wall were lit and otherwise empty wall was adorned with a series of photo frames.
I walked up to the wall to have a closer view and was pleasantly shocked to see some rare pictures of our special moments of our past. Our college moments, first dance, some photos of just me, I assume Geet had clicked them when I had visited the college while dropping Annie, in the reunion party etc some pics of Aashiana to our marriage. Geet had all our special moments of the pasts treasured with her and today she had gifted all of them to me.
There was more to come my way as my gaze fell on a pure silver family tree placed on the table by the wall, all the photos of our family members systematically framed in it but just one leaf of the tree sans any photo.
A sudden rush of emotions overwhelmed me as the thought of... I picked up the card lying beside.

Tears trickled down my eyes, they were no bounds to my happiness today! My Meeshti has gifted me my whole world today, nothing could be as prized and precious than this moment, this happiness!!!!

I kissed the priceless card, how I wish to dance my heart out, scream, shout and let the whole world know about it but first I need to meet My Geet, the mother of my child!
I dashed out of the room towards the party, scanning around looking for her but she was nowhere to be seen. I could feel her eyes on me all the time but she was hiding , shying from me. Thats what makes her different from others and I just can't help falling in love with her all over again.
Meeshti had made my day so special and now it was my turn! So for the first time in my life dropping down all my guards I walked up to the orchestra and requested them.
'Geet tumhe bahar kaise lana hain woh main acche se jaanta hoon!'
"Yeh tumhare liye Meeshti"
Grabbing a microphone I voiced out my feelings leaving everybody present there stunned.

While everybody was shocked at this sudden shocking advancement but my attention was on the instant movement of my Meeshti who freezed behind a wooden carved partition in the corner of the hall, hearing me sing out to her. A small smile crept on my face as I had finally ended her hide-n-seek game.

I walked the other way round and slowly made my way towards her only to find her escaping behind the crowd but I successfully dodged all and caught hold of her, plastering her back to me never to let her go away from me. I promised her...

She slightly turned to me, her eyes moist and face expressing series of emotions. Taking an opportunity I grabbed her hand in mine and securing my other hand on her waist pulled her in a dance.

Khushiyon ka tumne
Yeh jaal bichaaya hain
Khoya hain khudko ya
Sab kuch paaya hain...
Tears trickled down her doe eyes, nodding my head in a no and she smiled through her tears. Her words clearly referred to our past and her pains.

I moved closer to her pecking her lightly on her ear lobes and instant was her reaction as she blushed a dark shade of pink the colour of her cheeks clearly visible in the dull lighting of the hall. She shied like a new bride and her smile just calmed my heart as I assured her...

She looked up in my eyes earnestly voicing out all her hidden feelings.

She tip toed and kissed me on my cheeks ever so softly and choked with mixed emotions I just hugged her tight in me like hiding her from all the pains and worries around and keeping her safe in my arms forever!!!!

[Geet's POV]
A loud applause brought us back from our small little world, making us aware of our surroundings. I hid myself deep in Maan's arms, not daring to meet the teasing eyes. Maan proudly announced to all about the arrival of the new member in our family.
There was an abrupt silence which was instantly replaced by loud hooting, whistling, teasing, clapping etc. All gathered around showering their love and blessings on us. Everybody was elated by the dual happiness that made this day all the more special for all of us.
'I was happy admiring the beaming faces of my family and thanked Babaji for everything!'
Post the dinner everybody were casually chatting when Dadaji and Dadimaa called for our attention. While Dadimaa came forward and handed over a very beautiful khaandani (ancestral) jewellery set to me expressing her joy and also as it is a custom of our family to gift this set to the pregnant daughter-in-law.
Dadaji handed over one of the most prestigious project to Maan. It was Dadaji's long lost wish to build a charitable educational campus for the needy in the name of Preeti-Raj Foundation in fond memory of Bua and Chachu. Due to his sudden paralytic stroke and lot of responsibilities coming over on Rajiv Papa, this project laid in the confines of his heart.
'Today was the best occasion to hand over his dream to Maan as now Maan could relate to a father (Dadaji) and his emotions towards this project!'
The whole atmosphere turned heavy and all came forward wanting to help in this noble cause in every way possible. Maan promised Dadaji.
"Dadaji aaj se yeh mera bhi sapna hain, aur main isse bahot jald haqeeqat (realize) banaunga. Yeh mera vaada hain aap se!"
All's well that ends well!
The whole day ended on a happy note and Maan seemed so happy and satisfied! I walked out of the washroom to find Maan sitting on the bed scrutinizing all the pics that I had gifted him.
"Geet yeh tasveerein?" He queried, his gaze still on the photos hung on the wall.
I moved to him resting my head on his shoulders I disclosed to him.
"Maan yeh photos maine collect ki thi, mere adoore prem ki nishaani! Yeh mera woh sapna tha jo shayad kabhi sach na hota phir bhi maine isse apne paas sambhaal (preserved) ke rakha tha. Kuch din pehle hi Rajji ne mujhe meri yeh amaanat (treasure) wapas di." I emotionally confided.
"Geet main..."
"Please Maan...waqt se pehle aur kismat se zyaada kisi ko kuch nahi milta! Jo hua woh hamaari kismat mein likha tha aur usse koi nahi badal sakta. Aaj hum saath hain ek dusre ke paas hain yehi pal aur sach maayne rakhta hain, hain na! Chalo ab bahot raat ho gayi hain aur main bahot thak gayi hoon, so jaate hain!" I sleepily asserted.
Maan lovingly laid me down pulling the cover but halted in mid, he bend down lifting my kurti and slowly kissed on my stomach and adoringly wished the baby.
"Good night baby! Thanks for coming in our life, Papa loves u!"
I smiled with my glistened eyes, the scene so earnest! The tender side of My Maan which is rarely visible. I grabbed my usual place resting my head near his heart as sleep tookover with a satisfaction that now nothing can go wrong!
A constant vibrating buzz broke my slumber. I sleepily glanced at the screen which flashed a private number, not wanting to disturb Maan I hurriedly picked up the call and the words uttered from the other end snatched away not only my sleep but turned my whole world around.
The phone slipped from my hands but it felt as if my life, my happiness, my world was slipping away and all I could do was just look over...
I turned to look at Maan who was fast asleep unaware of the storm lurking around.
'Maan main aisa kuch nahi hone doongi. Main aap ko kuch nahi hone doongi! Kuch bhi nahi!'
