The Downpour... Part 28

Maan went back in his cabin with heavy heart. He was not sure what did go wrong between them? "Why she was so dismayed? Because of me!'' He wanted to concentrate on work but it was tough task it seemed. Geet strange behavior, her try to make distance from him was disturbing him, he was not feeling like to face her now onward. He could not bear the bitter reality that she would think wrong about him; the mere thought killed him inward. Finally keeping mind away from her thought he decided to keep himself busy in meetings and work.

Lunch break had been over, Geet could not find her money nor could she get anything to eat but strange, she was not felt like having anything, was not feeling hungry. After Maan leaving she was oddly discomfited,

"Why I always end up making him upset!!! Geet you should have learned to manage things!!' She chided herself.

For whole day neither Maan called her nor Geet tried to meet him, both were sailing in same boat in avoiding their awkward encounter and it came time for leaving.

Maan was in mansion, changing his cloth when found something was glued from his coat. He looked closely and found, it was 100 rupees note which had stuck between buttons.

"Ye kaha se aaya?''

He tried to think, then remember possibly, when Geet had bumped in lift!! He recalled that she was searching something there. "So was she looking for this?'' He thought.

He kept money on table and lay down on bed to relax. His mind was again and again hitting him to call her "at least informing about money I can call her!!' But no, he subdued his longing, chided his heart to feel for her so much that her little unexpected behavior hurts intensely. He could not close his eyes throughout the night, it went sleepless.

Next day in office,

Geet with Ash entered in lift when they found Maan presence there beforehand. They settled next to him when Geet wished him Good Morning followed by Ash but Maan ignored them. He was silent as never before. He did not let his heart be effected with her presence there which Geet did not feel good. She was not sure but feeling like something was bothering her. Something which was making her feels lack of an important part inside her body, like without it she would not be live happy ever. She was waiting for his mischievous eyes to see her but it did not happen. Lift stopped and Maan left out in his rigid attitude leaving Geet behind with her troubling feelings.

Throughout the day she had been waiting that Maan would call her but he did not and that now started to kill her. She started making plans to go in his cabin but Maan had already rescheduled his day tightly to be busy in meetings so Geet could not get any chance to meet him.

As day was slipping from her hand her restlessness was increasing.

"I know something had happened to him. I know.. I can feel it!! Babaji please keep him away from any harm, please!!''

Her sadden heart started to pray for his well-being,. She was sure he was not in his usual self but why, could not understand. She could not understand that her small –small things, her unplanned ignorance could have affected his heart so keenly that he would forget to live in peace for ever. But she could see he was not restful, not cheerful like always she had seen him and that disturbed her.

"Babaji, whatever happen, now I have to meet him at any cost, I can't see him like this''

She had been peeping in his cabin to keep eye on his arrival and at the time he came, her eyes glinted in happiness. She runs back and took a file from her desk and came out running, almost clashing to Asha who was also coming in same direction, but in her happiness Geet ignored her when Ash called her from back,

"Geet, where are you going'' She said irritated.

Geet stopped and turned back. "Wo, Maan sir has called me with file'' She said lie happily and was to open door,

"One min Geet, wait! Maan sir had called me also so let me meet first''

Though Geet did not want to miss this little chance but thought, it would not be good to meet him before anyone so she agreed, let Ash go inside and she waited outside restlessly.

May I come in sir' Asha asked and stepped in. Maan was turning his chair to opposite side. He was in no mood to meet anyone though he himself had called her.

"Sir actually Adi sir would have told you that we .. mean I and Geet need some money, can we have our salary in advance''

Maan in his bitter mood wanted to throw her out from his sight but now Geet name attracted his attention. Though he did not want to hear but for Geet, his curiosity increased.

Asha started to describe how they had been living in crisis after everything theft and showed her fake tears which Maan hated to the core. Asha wanted to make soft corner for her in Maan heart and so portrayed, how she had managed everything alone.

"Please sir, please help us'

Maan did not replied just said Adi would see this matter.

"And sir one more thing'

She said that as Geet had no her salary account yet, so they can transfer Geet salary in Asha account and she will deliver Geet her part of amount' . Maan found this part odd but he did not ask further. Asha left.

Maan mind got alarmed. He knew Geet should not stay with this girl as he had sensed fakeness in her voice. He knew Asha tears were just for catching his attention but his mind was worried for Geet only. No matter what but he could not see her in any trouble because of anyone!

"But how can I tell her. I know Geet would not believe my words if I say against Asha but nor can I see her in any problem. Now I would have to think something so could keep you always safe before my eyes Geet, even if, I do not achieve your love in my life''

He brought out her 100 rupees from pocket and kept in an envelope. Maan had keen longing to give this money to her by his own hand but now, he would not go facing her, he had decided. He called his staff and gave envelope to him saying to keep this on Geet desk.

He made prepared himself to leave for meeting.

Geet was still waiting for Asha to leave cabin so she could go inside. She was having unusual anticipation "But what would I ask him?''

"Don't worry Geet just go inside and check, is he alright or not, and then come back instantly. This much only have to do Geet.. just take Babaji name and go!!!''

Taking long breath she pushed door abruptly that hit Maan who was just about to pull it to open.

"Ahh!!'' He groans in anger'

Geet eyes went bigger to find him clutching his head with hands and face all red due to annoyance. She instantly rushed inside chanting sorry and held his head in concern.

"Sir show me''

She was worried for him but Maan would not let her see his hurt, just moved back in annoyance.

"Sir please at least let me check …'' she raised hand to see his head when Maan grabbed her hands in middle. She looked him confused.

"Geet, I'm alright. You don't need to bother for me!!''

Maan words hit her heart. She stared him steadily but Maan ignored her, and left for meeting.
