Umm... So Naina is no more.
To be honest it didn't shock me to the core. I guessed the fate of the TPOD and Naina(in particular) since beginning.
But my guess and assumptions turned true and it pained me.
Her death didn't hurt me much but her fear made me weep.
I didn't read the update, i was just trolling and my suspicions turned true, after everyone commented about her "Suicide" / Death...
It didn't cross until now that she is indeed an "Escapist" but by force or by her choice is what gnawing me!
I wondered "that" time when she had choosed an ending ...
"I'll think of it all tomorrow, at Tara. I can stand it then. Tomorrow, I'll think of some way to get him back. After all, tomorrow is another day." Geet quoted suddenly, the original concluding lines from the book before Naina had chosen to chase the ending, Gone with the wind.
Smiling Geet looked at Naina.
"Why that book?"
"Just"
Even though Naina didn't say why, with her hands that were tense, and was fidgeting with the bag, Geet knew better to buy that explanation.
"I can see you give that book a happy ending, but I didn't see you have Scarlett die."
Naina still didn't meet Geet's eyes and the soft smile that now on her face was something Geet would never be able to forget.
"Scarlett might not be somebody who would say she would prefer death to separation, but people would."
"Which people are we talking about?" Geet asked, and Naina didn't meet her eyes.
"Characters have a mind of their own Naina. How right is it of us to make them do something just because we ourselves can't?" Geet prodded again.
Naina smiled, knowing that it was just Geet who always looked beyond the surface, and at that moment she was comfortable letting her thoughts out loud for the first time.
"What you say is what a writer should be. I am not a writer Geet. You are. I am somebody else"
"What are you?" Geet wanted to ask, but she hasn't. This part of Naina wasn't something she had ever come across, and she wasn't sure it was the right time yet to let it out.
Naina gave a brief smile before taking her bag and walking out.
"Escapist. I am an escapist" Naina whispered somewhere along the pathways. She wasn't sure if Geet heard it though.
Its not Scarlet, its her..she Was talking about herself when she crafted that ending for her assignment.
Geet got a glimpse of Naina's thought process and even us(readers).
She always dreams about Prince charming and fairy tales but that was just a facade.. to escape from the reality.
I got a glimpse about her father,he is strict and all(those evening calls, where his daughters needs to attend the call. Mandatory)
Naina is a real enigma. What is she.. why is she.. and Who is she .. im still wondering.
So far i always thought Geet is complicated/ enigma.
But Naina, she surprised me with her nuances.
Dance like no one is watching You!! - i love this chapter for various reasons...
I thought this is just a chapter where the meeting and sparkling emotion evokes in one's heart.
Now, i see a gal who is dancing freely, with no inhibitions and Fear!!
She is caged bird, but for that little time.. She is Naina.. the gal who loves to do what her heart calls for.
She is scared little kid, her fears are too strong than her.
She is not an ordinary gal, not at all.
Geet is loved by her dad and bro... but she didn't witness the cruelty of her own Blood!!
But Naina, she witnessed the brutality of her father on her mother.
What worse can happen to anyone?? My heart goes for her.
She writes because its an escape route from reality..she dances because its an escape route.. she comes to home in a different path because .. Escape!!
Her every action can be ignored completely if she had a normal upbringing.. but no. She had what..?? Horrific? I dont know.
It appalls me and worries me.
I dont blame her.. choosing the easiest way.
So now, if she runs away and leaves behind 'her" everything , what do we think of her?
Im sure..ill think of her as selfish... but now when she had taken a decision which is solely in her hands..what are we calling her? Coward?
It Hurts...both the ways.
If she dared and leave her lil world for Sameer.. then the guilt part kicks in immediately ..and settles in.(which is just as worst as grief)
She had choosen what's in her hands... and she accomplished it very gracefully..leaving everyone in grief and...
About her mom... you know... i .. just cant say anything about her mom..and why didnt she stand up for herself and her daughters.. I'm not in a right state of mind to judge her..and give some sort of explanation behind her silence!!
Naina's action surely angered many...but can one know her state of mind?
How tortuous was for her to opt suicide and leave her mother in the hands of the guy..(i dont want to utter his name).
"The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive."
I forgive Naina!!
She took some rest from her fears..and ended it finally.
She is an Escapist for various (un)known reasons!!
"Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody."
"I like the night. Without the dark, we'd never see the stars."
