Is it the mother's fault who did not raise voice against the violence thereby encouraging Rathore?
Even if she couldnt make herself strong she should have imbibed that strength in her daughters. But then Amma had given Naina a last chance ...a chance to flee away.
And so Rathore got to know there was something more powerful in the world .
Death.
His daughter 's death.
So the control freak father couldnt control her daughter's death.
Strange isn't it.She had power to decide whether to live or not. With her death came the biggest defeat of his life.
It must have been hardest blow he had ever known .May be harder than the blows he inflicted on his wife's body and soul whose witness was Naina.
She with her death made sure that he learnt his lesson. And cannot make another Naina out of Meghna.

I cannot digest this thing. You remember you had written an os on a suicide topic. We had a discussion and you had told we have this very short moment when we can decide whether to give up or not. She must have had that moment. Why didnt she live for her mother and sister.
Weren't they worth it? After all the reason of her mother carrying on the relationship with her father must be her daughters.
May be the love that she recieved from Sameer was unmatchable. She must have been very much in love to kill herself. I remember her making a statement which implied that she would prefer death to separation. But what about the ones who loved you Naina.

It shouldn't be called suicide.
It should be called the end of hope.

She lost hope and did not have the faith to endure.

So geet thinks herself to be instrumental of all this havoc in so many lives. The biggest being Naina's death.
She must be thinking she could have stopped all this.
Poor girl.
I am afraid how the story turn up now.

A masterpiece on its way.

Tweesha would have surely put up a fight or ran away.
Geet she would have gone with the marraige but not put an end to her life.
But then this is Tweesha who always knew to fight for herself..this would be tweesha who had learnt to take nonsense from anyone ...if she recieved one and then would give back ten.
And this is the geet who had been always mature being motherless had made her more responsible and wise.
But neither Geet nor Tweesha has Vikram rathore as a father.Had it been the case we would see a different Geet or Tweesha may be similar to Naina.

I want to blame her for taking such a drastic step. But what made her an escapist is the biggest question. All such qualities we acquire as we grow up.It is the surroundings the environment ,our parents , friends playing a pivotal role.

Twisha in Naina's place would be out of character.

Geet also due to her mother's death is hyper sensitive. She would have borne the pain as you pointed out.

Escapist is an interesting term. I think Naina decided to live on her own terms.

Not bending to a father who is worth despising.
Not willing to live without the love she had a brief taste of.
More than escapist, defiant.
More than being pathetic to herself perhaps she thought she was brave.

Don't agree with it but understand it.

Yes Avi that is a better way to put it.
The end of hope.
But nevertheless it was an end of life.
Wasnt she the hope , the cause of living of few people. She took away that with her.
I feel for the mother-sister duo and also for Sameer.
To know that your love is in some part of world is better than knowing that she gave away her life .
He might get to know about it after years still it wouldnt make him feel an iota less.

Yes

That is why in addition to grief, suicide causes a residual anger
The people left behind are mortified with it but also angry that the person gave up. That they did not turn to them.

I am fearing this anger between Tweesha and Geet now.

I found the actions of the mother a pure love.
She let her go. Gave her a chance to escape.
But Naina's overwhelming love for her and the overwhelming fear of the consequences her mother would have to bear made her come back.

Umm... So Naina is no more.
To be honest it didn't shock me to the core. I guessed the fate of the TPOD and Naina(in particular) since beginning.

But my guess and assumptions turned true and it pained me.

Her death didn't hurt me much but her fear made me weep.

I didn't read the update, i was just trolling and my suspicions turned true, after everyone commented about her "Suicide" / Death...

It didn't cross until now that she is indeed an "Escapist" but by force or by her choice is what gnawing me!

I wondered "that" time when she had choosed an ending ...

"I'll think of it all tomorrow, at Tara. I can stand it then. Tomorrow, I'll think of some way to get him back. After all, tomorrow is another day." Geet quoted suddenly, the original concluding lines from the book before Naina had chosen to chase the ending, Gone with the wind.

Smiling Geet looked at Naina.

"Why that book?"

"Just"

Even though Naina didn't say why, with her hands that were tense, and was fidgeting with the bag, Geet knew better to buy that explanation.

"I can see you give that book a happy ending, but I didn't see you have Scarlett die."

Naina still didn't meet Geet's eyes and the soft smile that now on her face was something Geet would never be able to forget.

"Scarlett might not be somebody who would say she would prefer death to separation, but people would."

"Which people are we talking about?" Geet asked, and Naina didn't meet her eyes.

"Characters have a mind of their own Naina. How right is it of us to make them do something just because we ourselves can't?" Geet prodded again.

Naina smiled, knowing that it was just Geet who always looked beyond the surface, and at that moment she was comfortable letting her thoughts out loud for the first time.

"What you say is what a writer should be. I am not a writer Geet. You are. I am somebody else"

"What are you?" Geet wanted to ask, but she hasn't. This part of Naina wasn't something she had ever come across, and she wasn't sure it was the right time yet to let it out.

Naina gave a brief smile before taking her bag and walking out.

"Escapist. I am an escapist" Naina whispered somewhere along the pathways. She wasn't sure if Geet heard it though.

Its not Scarlet, its her..she Was talking about herself when she crafted that ending for her assignment.

Geet got a glimpse of Naina's thought process and even us(readers).

She always dreams about Prince charming and fairy tales but that was just a facade.. to escape from the reality.

I got a glimpse about her father,he is strict and all(those evening calls, where his daughters needs to attend the call. Mandatory)

Naina is a real enigma. What is she.. why is she.. and Who is she .. im still wondering.
So far i always thought Geet is complicated/ enigma.

But Naina, she surprised me with her nuances.

Dance like no one is watching You!! - i love this chapter for various reasons...

I thought this is just a chapter where the meeting and sparkling emotion evokes in one's heart.

Now, i see a gal who is dancing freely, with no inhibitions and Fear!!

She is caged bird, but for that little time.. She is Naina.. the gal who loves to do what her heart calls for.

She is scared little kid, her fears are too strong than her.

She is not an ordinary gal, not at all.

Geet is loved by her dad and bro... but she didn't witness the cruelty of her own Blood!!

But Naina, she witnessed the brutality of her father on her mother.
What worse can happen to anyone?? My heart goes for her.

She writes because its an escape route from reality..she dances because its an escape route.. she comes to home in a different path because .. Escape!!

Her every action can be ignored completely if she had a normal upbringing.. but no. She had what..?? Horrific? I dont know.

It appalls me and worries me.

I dont blame her.. choosing the easiest way.

So now, if she runs away and leaves behind 'her" everything , what do we think of her?

Im sure..ill think of her as selfish... but now when she had taken a decision which is solely in her hands..what are we calling her? Coward?
It Hurts...both the ways.

If she dared and leave her lil world for Sameer.. then the guilt part kicks in immediately ..and settles in.(which is just as worst as grief)

She had choosen what's in her hands... and she accomplished it very gracefully..leaving everyone in grief and...

About her mom... you know... i .. just cant say anything about her mom..and why didnt she stand up for herself and her daughters.. I'm not in a right state of mind to judge her..and give some sort of explanation behind her silence!!

Naina's action surely angered many...but can one know her state of mind?

How tortuous was for her to opt suicide and leave her mother in the hands of the guy..(i dont want to utter his name).

"The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive."
I forgive Naina!!

She took some rest from her fears..and ended it finally.
She is an Escapist for various (un)known reasons!!

"Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody."

"I like the night. Without the dark, we'd never see the stars."
