Part 8
Brij Handa, Geet's bro, is a person who can do anything for his sister. He was surprised that instead of being happy to get her Nokia 6600 back, she had fainted. She looked drained.
While she was still unconscious he phoned his wife who was at home, equally worried, and asked her to bring Geet's Nokia 6600, her E6 and her laptop to the hospital
He was sure that there was something in that cell of hers that has caused this.
His wife, Sonia was there in record 25 mins.
He asked her to go through the laptop, and find what she has synced in there from her 6600. While he took her E6 and looked at the last dialed number, the number seemed familiar, it was fed as Sir. He pressed his memory but failed, than he checked the contacts to find more information about the number, as he read the address he recognized it, it as a address in Jalandhar, the house was now owned by Bakshi's and previously the owners were Khurana's. Was it possible that Geet was trying to contact the elder Khurana, who helped her study while his stay as their neighbor.
Sonia showed him the images and videos that have been copied and his doubts were clear, his sister was looking for Maan Singh Khurana. And she would have fainted because not many people know about Khurana's whereabouts at Jalandhar.
He did not understand what link his little sister had with Maan, he tried to concentrate if he had missed something that the two shared.
2005-06
As always Maan came at 6:45 pm and Geet was always ready with his coffee, the two would talk of nothing but studies. Maan was a very studious boy, with no non sense approach. He was always straight forward and sometimes painstakingly rude.
Yes, this is what I never noticed, but I clearly remember that only after his arrival did Geet started dressing in salwaar suits.
When she went for the first time with mother to get some suits stitched Maan had accompanied them as he himself was out of station.
And Geet has brought many colors which she was not so fond off, may be they were Maan's choice.
As I tried harder I also remember that after every dinner, Maan would secretly wipe his hands with Geet's duppatta and his sister would always blush. How did he miss this all those years back.
And that day when we all went to the fort, I was so busy with Sonia that I did not see the comfort level they shared, Maan who usually was not easy discussing his family, easily told Geet about his father and family.
And when he had left Geet was very quiet for several days, and I thought she was mourning the loss of her mobile which she lost the very next day he left.
She was sad about her mobile but was more disturbed about missing his number and him.
After Maan left, father also got transferred, and I too opted for transfer, While Geet readily went to hostel.
When we got the news of Maan's accident Geet was not with us, so we never got to tell her. And later we forgot about telling her.
I never knew that Maan had any importance in her life, else I would have told her everything.
2012
Before I could tell this to my parents I have to confirm from her.
She was conscious and the doctor said I could meet her
I went inside and her sad, drained out face welcomed me
"Geet, how are you feeling now?"
"Not good" she said, her eyes puffy due to crying
"You called at Maan's old house"
"Maan, who Maan?"
I was surprised but then asked again "I mean you called at your Sir's number"
"Yes, is his name Maan? I never asked him his name" she said sobbing
"You love him" I asked in the way Maan would have asked her, straight to the point
She simply nodded
"You never told us" I felt defeated
"He said he would come at the right time and ask my hand in marriage. But he never came" she started crying bitterly
"Geet, he is very much alive"
"Sachchi"
"Muchchi"
She wiped her tears, "you know where he is?"
"Yes, he is in Delhi"
"Bro, has he married someone?" I could see the paleness of her eyes
"No, he is still a bachelor"
She was relieved, "but then why did he not come? Is there some problem"
I just took her hand in mine and said, "we will talk once we are home"
She simply nodded.
I had to ask her so I did, "did he propose you?"
She blushed and nodded
"When"
She blushed more, "the day before he left. He said he would come and officially ask our parents"
"and what else he said"
"He gave me this" she extracted a chain well hidden in her kurti, instead of pendent it had a male ring, "he said that it was his ring and as soon as he is able to buy he will give me a proper ring of my size"
I took the ring from her and studied it, it had a photo frame space and it had his as well as Geet's photo in it. As I had a closer look I found "Maan Ki Geet" words inscribed on the under surface, they were very minute.
Now I would do something about my sister and help her get her love and make these words a reality. I showed the words to Geet, she was surprised, she never knew they existed. My sister she was really very simple.
