The alarm clock sounded off at 7am.
Followed by another.
And another.
Geet's Blackberry started beeping.
She sat herself upright in bed like a rocket, widening her eyes.
It was a new day, a new dawn, a new-
"GEET!"
Pinky stormed into the room, her hair a dishevelled mess, wearing her favourite Winnie The Pooh pyjamas.
"Turn those damn things off!"
Geet leapt out of bed & turned the several alarm clocks off, before shutting the alarm on her phone.
"Why on earth did you put 4 alarms on at once?!"
"To wake myself up, my dearest Pinky." Geet grabbed a towel & started heading for her bathroom. "First day today, can't be late!"

He groaned, as he kicked a muscular leg out of his duvet. Maan loved the feeling of sticking a leg out of his duvet.
Burying his head into his pillow, he settled into the comforting warmth when his bedroom door burst open & before he knew it, a pair of hands were dragging him out of bed by his leg.
"Dadima, what the-?"
"Do you know how long me & your father have been waiting for you to come down to breakfast? Do you?!"
Maan got up from the floor, rubbing his eyes.
"It's 7am! You have to start office in half an hour! Get dressed!"
"You know Dadima, I think I feel sick."
"No excuses Mr Khurana. Your presence at the office already lacks as it is. Hurry up."
The formidable Savitri Devi Khurana left the room, leaving Maan to drag himself into the shower.
15 minutes later, he greeted the Khurana dining room with his presence.
Manish looked up from his newspaper at his son & almost choked on his cereal. "What on earth are you wearing?"
Dadima turned around to inspect Maan. The future MD of Khurana Constructions wore jeans which lazily hung halfway down his bottom, a casual white t shirt accompanied by a blazer & his usual kicks.
"Is that the way a future MD should dress?" Manish scolded.
"I don't have any suits Dad," Maan shrugged, biting into a piece of toast.
"Maybe we should spend your lunch break sending out an assistant to help you buy one. By the way, I've arranged for a new secretary for you from today."
"What was wrong with Adi?"
"He was incompetent."
"I don't really need a secretary though."
"Son, I think you'll find in the coming weeks that you do. Now I'm heading off, you finish up & get Nakul to drive you in."
Maan didnt reply, for he was too busy scoffing his breakfast whilst watching the morning news. Manish sought blessings from his mother before leaving the mansion.
Dadima turned to Maan. "You need to be more focused in the company. You know how we all want you to become the successor of KC. Our dreams rest on your shoulders."
"I wish they weren't," he mumbled, finishing off his orange juice. "I better leave before Dad loses it again." Maan patted his Dadima on the back before whistling for Nakul & leaving the mansion.

Geet took one last look at herself in the mirror.
Her curly hair was pinned back into a bun, & she wore a baby blue shirt which was tucked into a pencil skirt which reached her knees, accompanied with black wedges.
"Professional," she nodded to herself in the mirror. "I can so do professional. Pinky, I'm leaving!"
Geet made her way out of the apartment she shared with Pinky when she was stopped by her friend. Geet turned around to see Pinky with a plate full of jalebis - she stuffed one into Geet's mouth.
"For good luck," Pinky grinned.
"Pinky!" Geet complained. "You know I don't like jalebis, I prefer barfi. Mmm, give me barfi anyday! I think I'll buy some on my lunch break. Maybe KC will have an indoor pantry. They should have a pantry, right?"
"And there was me thinking you'd be complaining about not being able to get out of the skirt after your jalebi."
"Who needs a figure when Indian sweetmeats are at your disposal? Ok, I've got my phone, I'll call you when I get there. Bye!"
Geet blew a kiss to her friend before heading out of the door.

It was a rainy day.
Delhi was being blessed with the monsoon rains of the season. Which meant Geet had to strip her blazer off after she got out of the rickshaw, substitute it as an umbrella & run in her heels to the KC office.
What a delightful first day it was turning out to be.
Maan was sat at the back of his chaffeured Mercedes, his earphones in his iPhone, humming along to his full blast music when the car rolled to a stop. He peeked out of the windows & pulled his earphones out to realise he had already reached the office, when he heard a shriek from outside.
"NO WAY!" Geet was fuming. Her best outfit was forever ruined because some jerk in a Mercedes decided to pull up just over a puddle, splashing her bare legs & grey skirt in the process.
Maan opened his door to find a girl shrieking as she examined her skirt. He stepped out, jumping over the puddle.
"Sorry," he mumbled, with no sympathy to his voice at all.
"It's rich ass jerks like you who think they can roll by in their damn stupid cars & ruin the day for everyone!"
Maan simply ignored Geet as he walked to the main entrance of KC, appearing completely unaffected by the rains. Geet scoffed as she shot a dirty look to the car, momentarily scaring Nakul, and tottered inside, grumbling angrily to herself.
