Episode 82
I loved this war between Maan-Geet and Maan's brain and his heart. I think this is the first time that Maan physically loses all senses and expresses his attraction to Geet, and what is more, her feeling sort of emerge in her reaction. She feels totally comfortable with him, enough so that she comes out of the bathroom wearing pretty much nothing. And Maan thinks he can take it but how wrong he is! I loved how the scene with the hair was sort of a loop closure for so many scenes like the first night in the outhouse. There, when he shut Geet up he sort of wanted to brush her face with his hands. Similarly in the first day at the office he wanted to do something similar but stopped himself. I guess this time he feels emboldened by the fact that Geet takes initiative and comes in front of him. And that plants her even more firmly in his mind!
I love how they both lament their fate and then decide to change it themselves and that in turn leads them further towards their destiny, sigh.
It is kind of uncanny how similar Maan and NT's effect is on the employees of KC. I feel bad for her. She was a much more capable administrator but she sold herself short by trying to get to success through marriage. This was her weakness.
Dadi is such a smarty pants! She always finds a way to bring these two together, dealing with problems on their own. And her silence makes Maan say much more than he intended to.
Episode 83
I think these episodes are probably the worst that Maan's manhandling got in the whole series other than that awful farmhouse sequence. But what is refreshing to see is that Geet is not scared of him, neither of his shouting nor of his threats and not even of his physical actions. Because somewhere I think she still has that deep trust that he won't cross the line. Of course that is to be broken soon enough when he does, but I think Maan is in that irrational anger mode right not where he is blind to everything but his own rage. And from these episodes we see that Geet is the only one who can handle it and give back, and even turn the situation from one of anger and seriousness to one of fun and games!
The kitchen dialogue is one of the funniest on the show! I loved Maan's sarcastic dialogues, "Aloo ke hi paratha banana"
And like you all mentioned, it was this moment when Maan erased the bad memories associated with pasta for Geet. In the heat of their argument, while Maan forgets his anger and his aloofness, Geet forgets her past and the trauma it has caused her.
@Jyo: Even I always wondered how MSK cooked the pasta without water!
Ah the toothpaste scene is one of my favourites in terms of GC's eyes. They make me melt and I love the way Geet goes on innocently applying her toothpaste on his hand while she applies balm on his bitter heart at the same time. There is a moment of such apnapan between the two here where you would never be able to tell they weren't husband and wife.
Ah and the pre-Geet MSK thinks contract and technicalities! It is ironic that he uses this same excuse later to get her to stay.
@Paro: I loved your puns!
@Pennu: Your minute to minute analysis was too good!
Episode 84
This was a tough episode to watch. This is one of the times that Maan is truly at his worst in the series. But thankfully once he goes to that place, he has the fighter Geet and Dadi to bring him back. Where one fails, the other comes in to handle the situation.
I feel like mostly this was bad timing for Geet. While Maan did repent what he did to her in terms of hurting her, he was also back in his indifferent MSK mode where he was disgusted with himself as much for letting his emotions get away with him as he was for actually hurting Geet. He wanted to once again be that cool-headed guy who would help a girl in need but not get to close or affected by her. Geet read this all wrong and sort of didn't understand the switch that had happened in Maan.
The Maan from a few moments ago would have taken her "natak" as part of the game and fought back but by this time Maan is thinking like himself and opening up to Geet as himself, if that makes sense. That is what makes him go even crazier when he realises she is faking. Unfortunately, their inability to understand each other makes this difficult scene happen. Finally Geet actually gets scared of Maan because she senses something unfair in his behaviour which has just not happened till now.
SAMEERAAA!!!! You know, there are shows which drag on and on after the initial story is over but in Geet they never even finished the original story. That is why I think there was such an uproar when it ended. We never got to know so many things! Dadima says that Sameera didn't just commit a galati but a "gunaah". I have always wondered what could be that bad...
Ah! Dadi's first fake illness. I love how Maan calls to Geet and Geet goes and suddenly she has nothing but concern in her voice and I just melt for Geet's character when I see her being so understanding and forgiving of Maan because of Dadi's illness. Finally I kind of adore how Dadi is Maan's proxy in this situation. She says what he is not allowing himself to. Don't leave us, Geet!
Episode 85
I love episodes like these that sort of bring the tension to a culmination point before a min-resolution that will be the dargah episode. For the first time we see Geet questioning herself as to why Maan has such an effect on her and Maan starting to curb his impulsive, angry outbursts and understand sooner when he does something awful. It is sort of a vicious cycle for the two of them because they never seem to match in their moods. When Geet is understanding, Maan crosses all limits with his anger and when Maan is apologetic, Geet steels herself to protect her self-respect. It is pretty clear that that is what she did, when he came to talk to her at the window, judging by the pain she felt when he actually walked away. (Distraction: Maan's ASSets as he is walking away towards the door...hmm ☺️).
You know in the scene where Dadi asks for the Nizamuddin halwa, she reminded me a lot of Geet and Maan's reaction reminded me of how he gets when he indulged Geet later on in their relationship. They do say you marry your mother and Maan's mother-figure is truly Dadi and in Geet he finds a woman who lives up to her in every respect and the best part is that Dadi is the first one to see that!
I loved Geet's venting session with Dadi, the first sign of real apnapan she has got from anyone since Pinky's dad. And I feel this is on a different level altogether because Dadi is a woman and has that "mamta" for Geet who can talk to her about her feelings, which was not possible with Pinky's dad. But most importantly, Dadi knows Maan really well and so somehow Geet feels safe talking to her. With everyone else, Geet is always defensive of Maan and very loyal but I think she trusts Dadi not to hold her feelings against Maan, subconsciously.
Another thing I found really interesting was the fact that Geet was talking to herself about all the torture that Maan inflicted on her but the flashbacks seem to be predominantly showing the times he has come through for her. To me this showed the difference between what was in her heart and what was in her mind. It was almost as though she was trying to convince herself
@Jyo: I think it's hilarious that you thought Maan was going to die! 😲😆 But they did show all the classic signs. Eek what a disaster that would have been. Again, I have to say no matter how much they did mess up the show, I am very glad indeed that they never did any such lafda with the Maaneet aspect. It remained pure.
To me this was a sign of the state that Maan was dropping into, of complete darkness. I do think that if Geet had not gone to the dargah and given his heart and soul some small hope, he would have "died" in a way, where the kadvahat would have claimed him entirely. To me that is why it was essential that Geet go after him and why she felt so strongly that he was in danger; his soul was in danger and as they are connected, she felt that too. And I loved the dupatta symbolism. The dupatta in some way signified Geet's connection to Maan and I think it tearing showed that the dupatta protector was in danger.
Now I can't wait for the dargah sequence after all this analysis!
I will be much more regular now. We had a guest at home last week and had to cater to her whims every evening so I had no time but now I am back, full force!
