Samana,
I don't think the PH/Channel and now the no good cvs even knew what a gem of a story they had. They actually underestimated their own show, its characters and their bond with its audience.
Which is why they could easily show a giddy-headed Geet who acts like a bimbette at the drop of a hat.
Like you said, the other show made no bones about what it is all about, that it was a puff pastry story with a truck load of candy floss. And I have to say, they kept to their promise without fail.
Geet, on the other hand, was heavy duty full course meal. With rice, curry, subji and meat for sustenance plus pickle and papad for some spice and fluff.
Now, this full course meal is gone for good and all we have left is a bit of spice and a whole lot of flaky papad.
More food analogies! Yum! Thank you for contributing to the evil mission of this post. 😈
Hunger pangs and sweet cravings for all readers! 😆
You are probably right about the PH/Channel not knowing what a great story they had on their hands and how deeply it was connecting to the audience until it was too late to sustain those feelings.
I was reading an interview of Swati Pandey from last October, and she seemed to have such a clear vision and direction, something that was entirely compromised. In her interview she made assurances that Geet's pregnancy would never be brushed under the rug, a promise that her successors failed to fulfill.
Now that I think back on it, the MC itself was so silly. She fell down the stairs? I hate that that made Geet look clumsy and stupid once again. Instead, with all the complications already present in the pregnancy, they could have easily had her just develop a blinding pain one day and take it from there. The MC didn't have to be a terrible mistake. It's just that MP brushed it under the rug and failed to concentrate on the Maaneet relationship maturing as a result. Instead he showed a stubborn Geet, a grovelling Maan and an impossibly jovial, un-conflicted and and un-tortured Dev, in short, cookies. Yuck.
