Samana,

I don't think the PH/Channel and now the no good cvs even knew what a gem of a story they had. They actually underestimated their own show, its characters and their bond with its audience.

Which is why they could easily show a giddy-headed Geet who acts like a bimbette at the drop of a hat.

Like you said, the other show made no bones about what it is all about, that it was a puff pastry story with a truck load of candy floss. And I have to say, they kept to their promise without fail.

Geet, on the other hand, was heavy duty full course meal. With rice, curry, subji and meat for sustenance plus pickle and papad for some spice and fluff.

Now, this full course meal is gone for good and all we have left is a bit of spice and a whole lot of flaky papad.

Ya me too felt the baby track was much needed one . Since then the story line got disturbed in a badway. Geet suffered all the pain for the baby.Unfortunately that was made a base to excuse dev then U know the mess of AA.happened.POOR GUESTS!!Really messed big time.

More food analogies! Yum! Thank you for contributing to the evil mission of this post. 😈

Hunger pangs and sweet cravings for all readers! 😆

You are probably right about the PH/Channel not knowing what a great story they had on their hands and how deeply it was connecting to the audience until it was too late to sustain those feelings.

I was reading an interview of Swati Pandey from last October, and she seemed to have such a clear vision and direction, something that was entirely compromised. In her interview she made assurances that Geet's pregnancy would never be brushed under the rug, a promise that her successors failed to fulfill.

Now that I think back on it, the MC itself was so silly. She fell down the stairs? I hate that that made Geet look clumsy and stupid once again. Instead, with all the complications already present in the pregnancy, they could have easily had her just develop a blinding pain one day and take it from there. The MC didn't have to be a terrible mistake. It's just that MP brushed it under the rug and failed to concentrate on the Maaneet relationship maturing as a result. Instead he showed a stubborn Geet, a grovelling Maan and an impossibly jovial, un-conflicted and and un-tortured Dev, in short, cookies. Yuck.

I agree, the PH are not doing right by this show, when some members of the team, especially the two lead actors are so committed through the entire compromise period.

To be honest, I think they cut open the golden goose long ago, when they killed the baby. They must have thought, if the love story is so successful with the baby coming in, let's kill the baby and cash in on the love story but they failed to realise the baby track was a big part of the whole attachment to the show. It put this love story on a higher level than your average romance novel. And I think every writer before Mahesh Pandey recognised and respected the baby as a crucial part of not just the story but the love story.

Maan was not just a dream guy, but a guy you could point to and wish for other men to emulate, with his principles and his essential kindness despite the rough exterior.

No offense to anyone but the other show, while entertaining is nothing more than a Mills and Boon romance. But at least over there they never made any bones about the fact and are following through with that premise. Here, the love story was woven around the story of a girl, who had her entire life and value system yanked out from under her feet, so we could all relate better.

It is a known fact that when women watch or read, the associate themselves with the female characters. That is why we love the strong, sensible, intelligent Geet (even though she may have a rural background, essentially she is not silly and fights for what she wants and needs, and I relate to that) and get angry when Geet acts silly, because we feel disconnected. Unfortunately the girl on the other show, while maybe relatable to other girls, does not provide me with any connection, which is why I can never be so deeply invested in that show.

Nice way to trap people to read your post😈😆😆😆
Yes the baby was integral to the story👍🏼 Thats what made the story differentClap However, I do think the baby had to go sometime bc they cant really have a baby on the sets That was the main problem...I think half the CV's wanted the baby but sets are so unclean..DD and GC get sick because of the environment on the sets. If they can get sick, than what about the baby?
If this was a film, then I would totally support that😃
No offense to anyone, but the other show does not have a story😳 Its just a regular love saga with some complications thrown in😕 I cant wait till they turn Shyam into a positive character, let him marry Khushi and end all the complications🤣 and boom go onto the next show😆😆 Since being positive is so damn IN🤣🤣
Yes I agree with you on the connection. I felt that instant connection with Geet since I am girl. The reasons why she did things were logical to some extent.👍🏼 In the other show, there is no consistency in the characterisation😕😆

I have more of a problem with how the baby went than its going. I wish they had made the MC relevant to the story and at least shown it bringing a new seriousness and gravity to the Maaneet relationship. This was not just any baby. This was THE baby and the way they just disposed of it, it was like it never meant anything. 😭 I mean that baby redefined the course Geet's life! And she lost it falling down some stairs? That just trivialised it so much.

I wish that Maan had mentioned it in his Amritsar reunion letter to give it closure and acknowledge that that grief, and their resulting distance, was part of the reason Geet left the house.

Because it wasn't written I like to imagine a scene happened right after Maan says "main papa banna chahta hoon" on the roof in Amritsar where he tells Geet that why he wants to be a father again: he says the baby taught him love and acceptance because it accepted Maan as its father despite not being his "ansh" and taught him that love can overcome anything. He says he misses baby and even though no baby will ever replace it, he wants to feel that overwhelming love again. Geet looks at Maan, incredulous that any man can be so wonderful and then looks up at the sky and thanks the baby for helping taqdeer unite mummy and papa, thanks it for doing so much for her even in its short life. Maan follows Geet's gaze and says, haan, baby without you your mother would have never known what a brave, strong, intelligent beautiful person she is and then he looks down at Geet and says "thank you. "

Then Geet rests her head on Maan's shoulder and they hold hands and just remember together, ie we get flashbacks of all the happy baby times.

Thank you!

We are all hopeless cases Zaara, that is one thing that is undeniable. 😆

I get shouted at every day by my mother for watching Geet nowadays (she used to watch it too). She says it is such a waste of time and I should be doing something productive instead of forcefeeding myself cookies and passing snide comments as I do so. And as much as I know deep down that she is right, I keep holding out for that one scene, that one touch, that one dialogue of Maaneet that gives me a whiff of those cupcakes and they give me just enough to keep me coming back with renewed hope.

I hope your wish for cupcakes with all the toppings comes true because it would satiate a whole lot of dejected, hopeless cases, including yours truly!
