Maaneet havent had it easy ... and my heart goes out to them.. seeing the two of them equally helpless, equally restless and equally wanting to find peace within themselves and around them !!
Last night, when Maan said "mere liye toh yeh sirf ek kahani hai ... jo kabhi main dadi ma se sunta hoon, toh kabhi Dev se ... " i knew that was the best he could do to put the facts in front of her without mincing words yet, not doing injustice to himself also in the process.. it may not have been easy .. cos he finally had decided to break his silence ...
He had accused Geet earlier, may be not cos he ever doubted her intentions, but more so cos he felt let down by a person who he had begun to grow fond of. To him, she may not have been the wife he had dearly once loved, but she was still that woman who had begun to make a difference in his surroundings.. The fact that his family loved and doted on her, just made it so much easier for him perhaps to believe she cant be a bad person... At the same time, to him, she wasnt what he perhaps had wanted Mrs.Maan Singh Khurana to be like in his minds eye!! We cant forget this is the Maan who is still the man who hadnt gone through the metamorphosis of knowing, loving and accepting Geet for who she is.. This is the Maan who still doesnt know that the same Dev who is now blindly supporting her had once wronged her so bad that he, Maan had turned totally protective towards her and had also abandoned his family ties ... The family has only given him cursory details and I am sure with valid reasons too, that they dont want him to fall in love with her because of the sympathy he has for her...
But Geets maturity as someone who had total faith in love is what moved me the most. She was so shaken, so hurt, almost broke from all the taunts and accusations from the man she loved, that nothing he would say or do would affect her. Through all this she never for once forgot that he had lost his memory and wouldnt do this otherwise!! She chose to put all the bitterness behind her and walked up to him, only for Dadima's sake and tell him, he need not attach any importance to this ritual, since he is doing this not for her, but another woman he loves, that is his grand-mother who means the world to him. She knows and is fully aware of the reality that this man has taken her back as his wife only for the sake of his grandmother and the promise he had made to her.. so what if she loved him to death? So what if he didnt relate to even an inch of her emotions... Geet is fully aware of the reality that Maan knows her state but cant do much, and she chooses to get him be ...!! she leaves it to time ...
The one moment of vulnerability however, came when she actually broke down to tell him how Maan to her was synonymous with Babaji, and how every step, every breath, every second of her life started and ended with Maan and how her life was centered around him though he was oblivious to the reality.. She didnt want to tie him down, but she knew she wouldn't be at peace hadn't she shared it with him. She knew only he would be the person who would ease her heart, so she shared it, without expectations, without any conditions !!! She had very well begun to realise all the little things she did to make him feel a part of the family and his surroundings were only turning him into a further loner... While NT made sure she made him realise his sad state, Geet knowing of the state tried to relieve him of it.. and alleviate it !!!
IT was not until he left that she said to herself that she was not to give up!! But ofcourse he didnt need to know, cos now once again, it has become her own struggle, her own battle and her own life, where though Maan is very much a part of her life he perhaps aint ready to register it and do justice to it!! The greatest form of love perhaps is its unrequited nature... cos despite the lack of reciprocity it still gives, it still cares and it still hopes ...!!
Like Florentino Ariza who always attributed his unrequited love to almonds .. and always continued to till the day Fermina became his 57 years down the line ...
