I think I may be one of the "many people" you are referring to who are discussing whether Maan is modern, is me. I started the thread about the Social Issue. And I just wanted to bring up some points. Firstly, the issue is not "nothing", it is very relevant and controversial all over the world, and the fact that we are discussing it is in no way a negative criticism of the show or the characters. It is just an analysis of some of the issues the show might address and actually is positive because us having so much to discuss means we are being made to think by the possible new directions the show is taking. I find it really funny how people just cannot wait to jump to Maan's defense. Pointing out his flaws as a character does not mean I am bashing him. A character is a literary device usually used to further the plot and/or send a message and I like to discuss how the writers are doing this, that's all. What I tried to say was that his protective attitude, not wanting Geet to struggle etc. is, while very romantic, some what demeaning because it implies that Geet should be totally dependent on him, which, yes, is typical of other serials but also why Geet has been different from the beginning. I also did say that it was a SENSITIVE issue because both sides of the argument are valid. As I have said on all my posts, I love to discuss/argue about my opinions even, actually especially :), with people who disagree but please don't just dismiss peoples' opinions/thoughts off hand and call it "nothing". Thanks for reading. Hope to discuss more with any of you.
