Nutritional significance
Maan and Banana
Bananas can act as mood enhancers or mild sedatives. Mood enhancing foods are those foods that can help keep you in a good mood. Bananas contain tryptophan, one of the 20 amino acids which are building blocks of proteins. Tryptophan helps the body to produce serotonin - which has a calming effect on the brain, creating a stable mood and acts as a mild sedative. Banana also regulates blood glucose levels with the Vitamin B6 and smoothen mood naturally.
What better fruit than the banana then for our Maan who has been irked by Geet's allegation that he does not care or love her when all he has been doing ever since he came to Amritsar was to show how much she means to him. The banana helps him to maintain his cool even in the face of Geet's deliberate provocation in order to catch his attention.
Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose - combined with fibre. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proved that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout.
Considering that all this sulking is to get his due share of placating from his wife and is a lead up to her seduction and his reciprocation of her passion, he will need all the energy he can get. Again what better fruit than banana to give him that much needed energy? He did have at least one banana. So he can have at least an energetic 45-minute workout with Geet, can't he?
Geet and Apple
Apples are easy to digest, since they contain acids that reduce fermentation in the intestines.
Right now Geet cannot digest the fact that Maan can throw attitude at her and give her the royal ignore. She had taken him for granted for way too long. By giving her the apples that she seemed to want, he has only ensure she does not get constipated.
Because apples contain a large amount of water, they are cooling.
After all her anguished lamentation that Maan doesn't seem to care for her, Geet does need to cool, don't you think? Maan's apples will do the needful and make her more pliant in their tryst in the terrace.
When you compare banana to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around.
Considering that Maan ate the banana and Geet, the apple, need I say who will be more energetic as well as strong between the two of them?
Symbolic Significance
Bananas are frequently used as a phallic symbol.
We saw Maan peel the banana before he ate it. His shirt is to come peeling off tomorrow. I'm not saying anything more.
Of all the fruits, the apple is very rich in symbolism. The most obvious one is temptation. According to C. G. Jung, they are the symbol of life, an ancient fertility symbol. In ancient myth the god of intoxication Dionysys was the creator of the apple, which he presented to Aphrodite, goddess of love.
Well, our Maan sure can intoxicate many and here he is presenting the apple (and the bananas too) to his love goddess, tempting her in this game of love. We know that Geet is one who will never shy from a challenge and is sure to rise to the occasion.
Lets wait and see how this match of wit and will plays out tomorrow.
