Should Geet have forgiven Dev?
Yes , No. Yes , No.....
And this goes on. Now, see what I had written in one of polls of Verode (Veena di). She asked me to post it as a topic, and I did this. Thanks a lot if you are really going to read it.😆
This is the longest post I am going to write on whether Dev should be forgiven or not. Till now, i have always ended my comments in 6-7 lines conveying my view strongly. But, today I think I need to clarify all the points and the proofs on whose basis I have always advocated the need of punishment to Dev rather than forgiveness.
Firstly,
Dev had done a mistake which is not only a crime but also something which can be called inhuman. He married a girl, for her property, and then left her. Then, what was the need to trap her in his artificial love? Why did he make her feel as if she was going to get all her dreams come true? Why did he make her feel as if she was going to have the best groom in her life, any girl could demand for? He did that where he could have easily married Geet without bringing her in his artificial love. Geet's family, as is totally understood, is the type of one, where love doesn't matter for girls before their marriage.
Now, the next thing. Even if he married her, why did he did something which made Geet's life even more painful? Why did he spend that night in the lounge with her? Some answers may come as - he couldn't control himself. Now, this is not an excuse for making an 18 year old girl pregnant. He did a mistake, a big or rather the biggest mistake.
He used sleeping pills in Geet's coffee to escape. Can a man put up a show of more cowardice than this? My answer is no.
He flew to canada with his the then family. Not even once, he thought of finding out about Geet, though he thought sometimes of her.
A lot of answers say that he must be forgiven because even God gives second chance, then why not we.
Didn't God give a second or rather third chance to him?
Haven't you many a times heard from the mouth of his actual wife, that he had lost all his money in playing 'jua'. He borrowed huge sums of money from people. Even after that, Maan forgave him and accpepted him so easily. And what had he done?Ditched a girl from a small town.
Many answers have also come that he did so because he was in the influence of his actual wife. Really? An about 23-24 year ld person doesn't have his thoughts? He doesn't have the mind or the brain to think what is wrong and what is right? He doesn't see the misery of the girl whom he was going to deceive for mere rupees. And if his soul didn't tell him this was wrong, then do you think he is worth forgiveness?I say, NO.
Now, the next excuse or rather say reason after forgiving Dev put forward is that he is repenting. Do you really think he is repenting?
No. He is not. Just decorating a room, taking the girl whom he deceived to some random place (helping her), and doing some more sorts like taking things out for her in the kitchen, never makes what we call repentance. No ways. If he really wanted to repent he must have himself surrendered to the court. Though, I dunno much about the judicial system of our country, I can tell that if a person surrenders himself in front of judiciary, his crime is always excepted and there is no need of proof for that except in some special cases which are not applicable here.
Now, coming to the next point; Saying that the girl whom he had deceived should forgive him because she has to move on in her life, is totally undesirable. What ever he did, did not only affect her but also a lot of people around her. And now, she forgives him because she doesn't want to be the reason of someone's guilt? This is not fair.
Secondly, This is a serial. I am emphasizing, a serial. this means that it is an artificial world, which has to remain in the cameras and TVs. But, don't forget in this process that it reaches to a number of people from all over the world. Now, do you think by forgiving him, the serial is giving a right message to the people?
If this had to be the reality, then all the judicial systems and institutions should be shut up as I think most of the criminals, after doing the crime, repent on it. but, this doesn't happen that they are left away.
Shrimadbhagwadgeeta, a holy Hindu epic, says in the form of Lord Krishna that 'what goes comes along again'.That exactly means, at some stage of time, we have to be punished for our sins. Even , the ancient and purest books tell this. Then who are we to forgive people?
I am not saying that Dev should remain in same way all his life-time. But, then I also favour the thing that he should be punished as stated by law and that is the way he can repent a little bit on his sins. There's no other way.
I am sorry if I hurt someone's feelings.
No offence intended to anyone.
No pun intended except in the title🤣.; this is a total serious post.😊
