don't like the idea of maan thinking of he can never take dev's place...yes, he can never take dev's place...for maan will not behave like how dev has behaved in his past...but in geet's life..only imp is of maan and nothing is for dev. So, maan need not feel insecure.
It's just an emotion that he will go through. Quite honestly, it's very natural to feel that way. EVERY guy is possessive, whether it's of his wife's past, ex, and some even of their kids hogging on their quality time. I think it's high time they brought Dev into the picture and did some basic twisting of the story.
Also, in my humble opinion, it makes Maan seem human. EVERY person feels insecure at some point in time. This is Maan's time - they're showing the guy who can fight anything, stand tall and proud in an circumstance, can feel insecure due to two folks so close to him in relationship and blood. He said earlier that he is 'majboor' - that gave him an element of vulnerability. With the insecurity, it brings in more. And I think it would develop and build a deeper bond between Geet and Maan, where she realizes his vulnerability and protects him.
I personally love it when the big macho type show a soft side - specially an insecure side - and the gal gets a chance to smooth the ruffled feathers.
As for the line 'can't take his place' - I think it's very accurate. Maan can never be the child's birth father, he can never be the man that Geet was first infatuated with, he can never be the man that Geet experienced consummation with (excuse me for being blunt here). BUT, that is ALL there is too it. There is no emotion involved, no undying love. Maan is, and will be, Geet's first true love, her strength, and her savior in more ways than one. But that doesn't change the fact that Dev ALSO has a place in their lives, whether they like it or not, whether they want it or not. It doesn't have to be a place Geet even thinks about any more, but it IS a place nevertheless. Dev will ALWAYS be a part of their lives, by way of their child. Always. And it would be unnatural if that didn't make any man feel insecure or see red. Specially if that past shows up in their face and the wife forgives him.
Lastly - For Geet and Maan's sake, for their future and mostly for their child's future - they needed to forgive Dev and move on. It's said that forgiveness is more for the forgiver than for the one being forgiven. And it's true. Now, after the forgiving and the clearing of the air, and Maan feeling insecure only to realize that while Dev has a place in their lives, Maan and Geet ARE the lives and will always be, their lives will be that much simpler, and stress free. With no regrets.
