Why does Maan feel guilty for having chosen Geet over the baby? This is why I think he feels guilty.

He knows what Geet had to go through to keep the baby. He had witnessed first hand the attempt on her life in HP and later learnt why it happened. It was a tough choice for him. He was damned either way, if he chooses her or the baby. But what he lacked at that moment when the doctor posed him that question was faith.


When he prayed to God he did not pray that both mother and baby should be safe. Instead he prayed that he should not be faced with this difficult choice to make and if possible the question should not arise in the first place. Although it indirectly amounts to the same, his thoughts first went to his own precarious position with respect to that question. If his faith in their love was strong enough, he should have not ever doubted that Geet will pull through for both of them.

He realised his blunder the minute he blurted out Geet's name to the doctor. As though to make things worse, Geet goes on and on about how important that baby is to her, making him all the more guilty.

Now he realises that had he chosen the baby (try saving the baby even if Geet's life is at risk), he would have still got them both back. How? The baby is Geet's life. Geet knows that she has to survive if the baby has to survive. So even in her unconscious state, she would have willed herself to live on for the baby.

His faith in her ability to survive for her baby was shaken. One can't blame him for he is just beginning to relearn the whole process of placing his faith in something beyond him. He is just beginning to learn to take baby steps in his journey towards faith and is bound to falter in his steps. He faced his first hurdle, a big one at that. So he stumbled but did not really fall because he realised his blunder soon after and repented his haste whole heartedly even before he knew that both of them are well.


I guess when Geet comes to know of the truth, this is where she will question him. 'Why did you not have enough faith in our love?Why did you not have enough faith in my love for my baby?" He knows that these would be her questions and frankly he has no answer to them. I don't think Geet will hold this against him for far too long though. She too had time and time again failed to have enough faith. Once she knows the whole truth, she will be the first to make peace with him and give him the support he needs.

@ Jyo: If Brij or NT die, they kill the characters portrayed by the talented actors on the show. They should show that NES was the biggest villain and show her death ... they are yet to give us her back story ... and, we'll definitely buy such a back story if it can give us respite.
