Gouri, I agree with you that Maan is more wrong than Geet because her supposed mistakes stem from misunderstanding. And what is wrong in the girl wanting to come out of his shadow? After all he himself has repeatedly told her to be independent and self sufficient. Now that he is at the receiving end he does not like it. He has more or less taken her helplessness and his response to it in the form of being the protective shield for granted. He loves the adulation he was getting from her and could not digest the fact that she is quite capable of fending for herself. In fact it is he who now seems helpless without her around and that irks him no end.
Maan is intentionally hurting her whereas Geet had hurt Maan unintentional and had also taken steps for some sort of reconciliation but he rebuffed her.
No matter what her flaws are Geet is not vindictive. She basically believes in the goodness in people, especially Maan's inspite of calling him dusht Dhanav, dus sirwalla raavan etc. She may have her outbursts but always tries to move on and look beyond it.
Maan on the other hand is highly vindictive. He basically does not believe in the goodness in people. He is always suspicious of their motives. Geet was the only exception but it does not take him long to doubt her goodness too.
Both are shaped by the circumstances and experiences of their lives but their approaches to life and people are poles apart.
I always held that it is Geet who would save Maan's soul and redeem him. Hope they show that.
