A few lines to start with-
how do I protect you from the pain you will suffer?
How do I kiss away those disbelieving words your heart will mutter?
I never doubted you or US,
But the truth will crush OUR dreams, for it is such.
Tell me my love, why do you wish to walk away?
After all that we have gone through, do you still doubt me?
If not then open your heart up and speak fearlessly,
And I will absorb into myself, the pain that makes you sway
Gurmeet, Drashti- TAKE BOWS!!👏👏
Brilliant performances.
The poignancy of your characters' pain was deeply felt..
I don't have words to describe.
The dialogues too- Dev got the best dialogue that summed up the entire thing in a sentence..Barry ji- Great dialogue..that one!
MORE as I go along
The song is APT...IT is her eyes that give insight into her feelings.
Geet's dream is really significant of the kind of life she wants with MAan.
That will be warm, and protected..filled with the fire of their passion and the warmth of their love..and of course..the hotness of Maan..
Geet and Maan both will need to protect this 'dream' home of theirs. Geet's dream stems from all that.
Notice the fire is near Maan's heart. The glow of their love will warm his heart always.
The opposite perhaps to this comes towards the end with Maan extinguishing that warmth.
He is in a cold place where his family is concerned.
HE doesn't go to his dark room, but there is no glow in his heart anymore. It has been extinguished by this Truth .
THAT coldness may be juxtaposed with the warmth of the dream GEET said she has seen for him(friday's epi) (brilliant continuity with dialogue here ) This is the dream that she wants to give him- their love creating an abode for them to stay in- warm and tender.
But Reality intrudes on that dream and it is to be deferred for some time.
The simple love with which Geet looks at Maan confuses him of course and that is Brilliantly portrayed here by GC⭐️
Maan's dialogue
"ek taraf tum mere kareeb aa rahi ho..aur doosri taraf.."
V logical dialogue of his confusion.
He can't bear it...that separation he senses might be coming.
HE asks her the truth- clean and simple.
The way he pushes her to tell him the truth. Physically holding her firmly by her shoulders..
It's pretty obvious that Geet is not going to be let off.
These arms enwrap her in that cozy dream of togetherness that she must shatter unwillingly for him to know the truth
He is obviously saying all those bharosa, vishwaas, vaada dialogues to egg her on to reveal the truth..of what happened.
At this point when he says that she didn't trust him enough, she doesn't let go..She is holding on to those arms for comfort and strength
She gives voice to her hesitation..and he lets her go.
He is hurt here- that she doesn't trust him. That after so much, she is still hesitating.
When Geet moves towards him, the expression on her face is of such painful love..DD-⭐️
Notice that pain is instinctively mirrored on Maan's face.
the theme of him blaming himself for this starts here-
I had mentioned that he will blame himself. For not being there with Geet...He does it even before knowing the truth.
I can't describe how much this hug touched me.
It was full of tenderness, love, longing(of hers to tell him but not giving him pain);(of his to take all the pain away from her), longing to meet but aware of something between them, reminder that he was very nearly taken away from her.
Maan's tender reassurance that he won't go anywhere now
This wonderful conversation of Maan tenderly, once more giving her "himmat" as he promised- himmat to fight and stand up.
he encourages her tenderly, yet firmly.
Bharosa aur vishwaas- they have both- their neev is strong and nothing can shake it anymore.
Geet personifies Truth for him now.
The family of his future- the one he will start(has started) with Geet. Geet herself is more important than anything else.
This is his claim- of standing up for the Truth.
HOW can anyone EVER think he doubted her when she said Dev's name??
HE didn't doubt her.
HE was incredulous...he refused to believe- but he knew she's not a liar. all one has to do is look into his eyes to know the inner turmoil.
The dilemma isn't Maan's choice between brother and family. That is a choice already made by him. he just said it himself.
The dilemma is that he loves his brother. He has to believe, and take responsibility of the fact that the man who ruined the life of the girl who is his life now- is his very own brother.
That isn't a choice for him. He knows there is no choice.
A dilemma in a character is to do with the inner turmoil of making a decision, which Maan needs to make now.
The dilemma involves agitation and angst, struggle but then taking an action...to resolve that dilemma.
It is not his decision..but his action I think that will resolve the dilemma...And that will be seen when Dadi gets to know the Truth..because Dev won't be sent to jail without Dadi knowing what's happening
Dev-NT scene was good..
their connection is too good..!! bewakoof pati, 😆
Also..I would hate to even compare..but direct contrast shown between the Understanding and LOVE Maan and Geet have; and the perverse understanding Dev and NT have...
Geet sees the pain and anger in Maan's eyes and his voice- yearning to kill that man, whom he doesn't know is his brother.
and the emotions she would be feeling that time, knowing this bitter truth- DD potrayed very well!👏
The dialogue that follows where Geet points out all of that was done to her..Maan is joining the dots.
I LOVED this. I wanted Maan to join the dots himself, but here we got something even better.
Brilliant! There was a mutuality in the 'search for truth'. Geet pointing out, counting the crimes against her, the injustices, and Maan joining dots..FInally, MAAN uttering Dev's name and Geet reaffirming.
👏
and the bomb- Geet says I had come to tell you.
And the puzzle is complete.
"maine use dekha.Dev ko"
the dots joined and the final dot that Geet gives Maan, completes the circle that enables him to understand.
( I have no idea if I am being too hasty here, but this is what it looked like)
Here, MAan puts forth a question- Dev?
A broken man, a shattered man- the truth heard, but registering after some moments..The obvious rejection of it is human- THANKS GUYS for not showing MAan as a GOD...but as a Man, here..
It was a reminder that he's not God..that he's a man- thought he is the 'hero' he has to feel pain...only 'heroes' can feel pain and withstand it, emerge stronger from that pain(I'm talking epic heroes here.)
shock, despair, anger, passion,disbelief..and vulnerability
We see Maan pretty much broken inside here..he is looking for one denial from Geet which he knows inside, won't come..and then the double confirmation- provided by Dev
HE extinguishes the candle.
The happiness that he thought had returned to his home n heart has been extinguished once more.
Khurana house divided and the jyot of peace extinguished
I feel maan holds himself responsible for what happened..cuz he had turned dev out of the house..if he had given the required money, dev won't hv gone to HP n married Geet n destroyed her life.
if he hadn't been in love with her..this pain she was suffering wouldn't have to be borne..
more importantly- HE wasn't there when this happened..he couldn't 'read' Geet's eyes and so that sense of hurting himself..shows that need of punishing himself somehow for not feeling or understanding Geet's unsaid and unshared pain..He could also not understand that day when she told him.
So candle extinguishing highlights the sense of his own despair right now.
Incontrollable like the cold wind of justice, MAan extinguishes the warmth and goes...
BUT THEN, Dev must say something..Dev you dug your own Grave
Although I loved the dialogues he was given
he had the best dialogue
"Mujhe nahi pata tha jis ladki ki zindagi main barbaad kar doonga woh aapki zindagi ban jaayegi"
This reminds Maan of Geet.
For a second, he just wanted to go be alone in his own darkness, but Dev reminded him of Geet..and the wrongs he did to her and so..of course, he got a punch
FINALLY!!Although it sounded like a slap..but hey, no issues today..I loved the punch-slap!
and seriously jhapkisses to all in the team for that!!
The dialogue by Dev reminds Maan of 2 things-
1. his brother did this to her.
2. His brother did this to GEET- the woman that means everything to him now.
The cold justice that Maan wants to mete out to Dev...will extinguish the peace of Khurana family...
aur shuru ho sakti hai tab..
Mahabharat😉
GC-👏👏⭐️ was brilliant..The emoting was perfect. Dialogue delivery perfect!!
11/10!
DD- 👏👏⭐️the pain that comes through foreknowledge- you portrayed that perfectly
