i just do my bit by religiously watch Geet on TV. i know for sure that TRPs are gonna be back as before now coz both GC and DD are back😃

See....Star One and its serials are basically aiming for younger viewers. This is noted by DMG, MJHT and Odhani. This is where Star One is going wrong. As it is....younger viewers are is a very small segment of the market. The major tv market for India is for serials which can be watched by the whole family.

Geet is a little bit different in that it has managed to hook some older viewers because of its content - NRI marriages, honor killings and girls being subjugated by their families....events which are still a reality in certain parts of India. And of course...the 'feel good' factor of an intense love story.

Shows like Pratigya, Bidaai, Yeh Rishta, etc are more popular because the whole family can watch these shows. If there is an argument in the family about what to watch...it is still the parents who control the viewing preferences.

So KBC will always over-rule because parents like Big B. Similarly Big Boss will take the majority of 18-35 year segment because of its dramabazzi content.

Star One probably will not change its serials because this will mean that they will be competing with its sister Channel Star Plus. In the old days....this would have been OK. But now they have other channels like Colors and Zee which are also highly competetive. If Star One is going to survive...it has to change its programming content in order to compete effectively with the other channels.
